Anyone not able to afford the print version of PFRPG?

Don't descend on me like locusts, but, I accidentally bought a 2nd copy that I'd like to give as a gift to someone.

Only a few preconditions: you must live in the U.S. (since I'll spring for the postage); I'd strongly prefer if I "know" you from the boards here (sorry lurkers!); and I have a few of you in mind already.

My 2nd copy has a few creased pages (about 17 pages w/ 2 creases, about 15 pages w/ 1 crease); though this is not the reason I'm giving it away. Just want to be upfront about that. Nothing that interferes w/ legibility by any means; it's only an aesthetic consideration.

I'll check in on this thread later tonight, and again tomorrow after work (Pacific Standard Time). If there's an easy way for me to choose (like rolling a D20, for example), that might be more fair than 1st come, 1st served.

When I pick the winner, I'll do so here and post my email address so we can confirm the details.

Good luck.

I'm not throwing my name out for this, but I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for being awesome! It's really cool that you are giving this away to someone who can't get a copy of their own.

I don't know if you know me or not, but I have not been able to afford the print version of PFRPG, due to not having a job. I would much appreciate it if you would pick me (or you know, even just consider me).

Scarab Sages

You are a saint. Right now I have it on pdf and am fine with that. Go ahead and send it to the guy ahead of me.

I think it should go to Lord Zack. He does seem to be the first to ask for it, and most of us that could not get to print version for various reason already have the pdf version.

Well I was at least able to get the PDF version (and the PDF of Tome of Secrets as well). But it would make me very happy to get a print version. I might be able to get it if I get a job soon, but I'm not sure if will be able to. If you want the book, feel free to put you're name up for consideration if you want, I can make due with the PDF for a while.

This is cool... I am fine but I was going to suggest someone. Paizo boards folks are good people.

Scarab Sages

I would like to have a chance to win the hard cover version that you are willing to give away. My friends and I would be appreciative

Well, I'm off to bed for the night, but so far looks like I won't be needing that D20 to make a decision after all! LOL

I'll check back tomorrow night and make the call then so as not to drag this out.

Sovereign Court

I have a copy of the book, but I thought I'd throw in a request for one of my gamers, he doesn't use the boards but he is currently unemployed, and can't really afford to throw the extra money for the PDFs [he's missed games because he couldn't afford gas to get to my house the next town over (yes we've solved that with a car pooling solution) so saying shell out what should be gas money even on a reasonably priced PDF is kinda mean IMO]. I'll understand coming in late and having my own copy if you want to give it to others, but I would be remiss if I didn't ask on his behalf..

Sovereign Court

Regardless of who gets it, You are awesome BenS for doing this

Hey Ben ... Nothing against Zack, but would like to put my name out there, too. Been hit hard with economic collapse and some family matters over the last two years. Won't post personal sob story here, but can share privately if you desire. Thanks for considering ... Rez

I would like to add mine too. Actually had to give up my charter subscription last week do to having to go back to school after getting laid off from a job I was at for 14 years. Thank you for the chance. BY the way this was great idea.

Ok, 5 potential winners, so a percentile roll coming up; the only way to be impartial about this:

lordzack (1-20)
Ramses (21-40)
lastknightleft (41-60)
Rezdave (61-80)
brentnorton (81-100)

Drumroll...(rolls a 10). Congratulations lordzack! Now the tough part, having to say sorry to the others; wish I could afford copies for everyone who couldn't! :(

lordzack,

Spoiler:
send me an email @ benstowell at mac.com.

My special sympathies for those of you who might be currently unemployed. Hang in there!

BenS that was a nice thing you just did.

I have to second Seeker's sentiment. Very cool.

Thank you for the chance.

I really hope the rest of you guys that are also in financial trouble get out of it soon.

Paizo-fan folks are just the best!

When I had to cancel my AP subscription due to loosing a job, several people chipped in and kept it going a while.

Now this.

I'm doing better now and have a job scheduled to start next week... but really this is awesome.

Well I can't manage to pitch in a print version but if your friend has an account I will throw down for the PDF if that is possible. (Have to check with customer service.)

I have had part of the community hook me up. So I figure I can repay the favor.

If there is anyone else who can't purchase the PDF I can put in enough for two total. Let me know and I will try getting in contact with customer service.

Heh, I'll ask him during the game wednesday, I'm pretty sure he got an account to download the BETA rules, and for all I know he did something stupid like buy the PDF anyways (I know I would have, but I aparently like going without food lol). So I'll ask him when we game and if he doesn't have it after all (which honestly considering he's missed games over not having gas money I'd hope he knew we would let him use our print outs of the PDFs rather than buy it, but like I said I know if I were in his situation I'd own the PDF anyways and rent be damned :D ) and let you know thursday. And even if it winds up being unneccessary, thank you so much for your kindness. Paizo people ROXs!

Hear hear! I, too, am fine (besides, I live in Northern Europe), but just thought to pop in say that this is really, really cool!

This is why I love these boards! :)

I had a similar situation when I got rid of alot of gaming books (I live in a 16 square foot room-don't ask). I gave them to a hospital that treats wounded soliders. Those guys are all gamers. Just an idea.

No problem I will check back Thursday after work. Just trying to do a little something for the Paizo Community.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2009 Top 8

I love this community. Nice one, BenS.

The Exchange

The wife and I are getting ours from the book store in the next couple of weeks, but I just wanted to chime in with You Rock!

Paizo people are the best people on earth I'm coming to think.*

(*I know, what am I doing here then, right?)

BTW, Barnes and Noble and Borders are supposed to be putting up the game on their shelves tomorrow (19th). Thus, if you have a membership or coupon (or both).... ^_^

Liberty's Edge

Way to go BenS! Congrats Lordzack!

I knew there was a reason I switched to these boards. What a great community!

Liberty's Edge

BenS you restore a person's faith in Humankind!

Highest regards bro,
S.

I'm not elegible, as I'm a bit like Erasmus ("When I have a little money, I buy books. If any is left over, I buy food and clothes."), I just want to praise you for your laudable endeavour.

<pats BenS on back>
Well done sir- a class act.

The Exchange

Well done BenS! Makes one feel good to "pay forward" some gaming fun.

Sovereign Court

Very nice thread. Thank you for your generosity. I don't need it, but you've inspired me to do the same for someone I know. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

lordzack, if by any chance you're still following this thread

Spoiler:
my email server is strangely down, so I'll just tell you here: mailed today Priority Mail, so I'm thinking you should have it Saturday. Delivery confirmation # 0307 0020 0001 5462 0950. Enjoy, man!

Awesome, BenS! This is one of the threads I'll point to when someone asks why I like the Paizo message boards.

I'll chime in again that I can spring for a PDF or two if there is anyone interested and couldn't get one themselves.

Sovereign Court

Well my guy didn't show up to yet another game (not because of money, he had a different reason) so I won't know till at least next week. If others come in and take him up on his offer before me, I'm fine with it. Seeing as how this is the third week in a row.

To DamnItAll ...

Spoiler:
Now that it's been a couple days and no one else seems to have responded, as someone who didn't win the hardcover I'll be happy to appreciatively take you up on your offer for a PDF.

damnitall22 wrote:

If you feel this is best so that you know it goes to the right place, that is fine. Otherwise, you could PayPal me $10 if you trust me to use it to actually buy the PDF :-)

I think I can spring for the sales tax myself :-) since I live in an expensive state. Just send to my Paizo name <@aol.com>

However you feel is best. Personally, in THIS post from Vic it seems a revised PDF is forthcoming, and I'd rather be sure to get that one, if possible, without looking a gift-horse in the mouth.

Anyway, your call, and offer much appreciated.

Well since you are still unsure and the player couldn't make it I am going to see about getting the PDF for Rezdave and brent norton.

Thank you very much. With all the problems my family and I have had since being laid off in April this is a very welcome thought of generosity.

Thank you very much.

I also think it is sad there is a whole thread about people being upset about how their PDF is screwed up, when I am just happy to get one and having to rely on others to have it. Thank you Damnitall22.

not a problem brent.

Those people need to chill they will update the pdf soon enough. I may even pick it up at that point. For now I have enough to go through with the book. I don't even want to look at the PDF right now and by the time I get to it will probably be updated already.

If any of the bigwigs (lisa, Eric, etc.) are reading this, maybe you could make BenS some sort of tag along the lines of superscriber or something? I dno't know how that works, but its worth a shot right?

Philanthropist, perhaps?

Thanks, too, DiA ...

I now have the book. Thank you very much.

Rezdave and brent norton! I cannot actually purchase the pdf for you guys. However, if you guys have paypal accounts I can send the funds there. Let me know.

Whoa! Only took 2 days to mail from coast to coast, that's awesome. I'm glad you have it for the weekend.

And a special thanks to damnitall22 for offering to pony up for a few pdfs. That's the spirit.
