[Frog God Games] Any plans to re-release Bard's Gate?

Product Discussion

Liberty's Edge

The question is in the title.

So a question for the FGG folks, do you guys have any plans to update and re-release Bard's Gate? I'm thinking in the same vein as Stoneheart Valley, Rappan Athuk, Lost City of Barakus, etc.?

It seems logical to do so with it being a fairly central location to the Lost Lands and I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet. So will we be seeing it any time soon?

Yes. :)

Its big--target is a June Kickstarter--its being revised, edited and having a ton of new material added, well, right now.

Liberty's Edge

Well holy crap! Awesome news, thank you. :D

Out of curiosity, if it hits Kickstarter in June how long until it goes through the whole process and reaches wholesalers like ACD?

Pathfinder Creative Director, Frog God Games

Bard's Gate Complete should be KS in June 2016. So it should be available outside the KS a few months later after it is distributed to the KS backers. Not sure about ACD. I don't know that they carry wholesale FGG stuff, though I could be wrong on that.

Liberty's Edge

ACD started carrying FFG products some time this spring. It's how I got my hands on Slumbering Tsar and Rappan Athuk so relatively inexpensive. Both fantastic books by the way. As a store owner ACD is how I get my personal game books so knowing when it will become available for non-backers tells me if I want to nab it there or jump on board the Kickstarter.

Thanks for the answers guys, I appreciate it. One other question though. I assume the book will be released for Swords & Wizardry and Pathfinder as per usual, but will it also get the 5e treatment?

Layout and Design, Frog God Games

Whether or not it gets the 5E treatment depends entirely on how well Borderland Provinces does, I think.

Bill, Matt, or Greg can answer that question better than I can.

Joshua, simple solution: convince them to back the KS. There are retailer only pledge levels available most of the time...

Liberty's Edge

Cool, good to know. I assumed 5e support would depend on previous sales but I wasn't sure how well Quests of Doom et all sold.

Layout and Design, Frog God Games

The adventures books seem to be selling well enough. That's what led us to attempt doing a Lost Lands setting book to test the waters for that type.

People are also asking for the older properties to also be converted, again, that depends on overall demand.

Liberty's Edge

Awesomesauce. Thanks for the info. I'll be keeping an eye on the projects and eagerly waiting to see how it all turns out.

And to weigh in. I cannot wait for the new version of Bard's Gate.

Me too, it will be nice to have a pdf with good bookmarks for navigation.

Is it going to be that much different than the 3.x version?

Pathfinder Creative Director, Frog God Games

It will have all the info of the original plus a lot more. So it will actually be significantly different but will not leave out any of the prior information.

Sounds like I would at least need the updated pdf.

I hope 5E does well enough on Borderland Provinces! The success of Kobold's monster book says the 5E support is out there :D

Hi mach1.9pants,

We know that there is 5e support out there. The question is if it is there for campaign materials and adventure paths or not. The Kobold's monster book is just that, a monster book. Our own monster book, Fifth Edition Foes, sold very well. But Borderland Provinces is a campaign setting book, and WotC has been focusing a lot of attention on their own setting of the Forgotten Realms, so it's not an unfilled niche like additional monster books are.

We're not testing to see if there is 5e support (we know there is). We're testing to see if there's 5e support for a product like Borderland Provinces.

And I'm with you, I hope there's a ton of support. I'd love to see Rappan Athuk, Slumbering Tsar, Barakus, etc. emerge with 5e versions to terrify and abuse a whole new edition of gamers. :-)

Oh yeah me too, I have all those in S&W and PFRPG versions (some beautiful leather too!) but I now game 5E so would buy them all again in a flash!

Fingers crossed

Wish you all well and good luck with the 5e stuff, but as I have no interest in it I will not buying any of it.

I'd love to see the book in 5e and I hope the support is there, but I'll be just as happy to see the book in S&W and PF. The rules system isn't as important to me as the adventure content.

@Joshua: Agreed! (i am getting it in PF)
