With the Pathfinder RPG Core book a little over a week away at the time of this posting, I'm now musing what 3.x stuff to actually get rid of from my 3.x library. I've narrowed the list so far to:
Any 3.0 stuff -- I believe I have the Psionics, Deities and Demigods, and Planar(?) book, and possibly even more. I never played that version of the game. The "completionist" in me prompted their discounted purchase. Exception: That Oriental Adventure book and its supplements.
3.5 Dungeon Masters Guide -- No need.
3.x Epic -- Never reached that level and, to be honest, have no interest in it.
3.5 MM -- after the Pathfinder Bestiary's released.
I'm still debating about my PHs. I may want to keep them in case any DM gets nostalgic and wants to run a "old school" session.
More to follow. What about y'all?

Yeah, I don't plan to get rid of any of my 3.5 stuff. If I can manage it I will actually attempt to get the stuff I don't have yet (not much...couple of Eberron books and a couple of things like Elder Evils and one of the "Expedition to" books). I want a complete set for my kids to find some day and explore. :)

I only own the PHB for 4e. Doubt I will get much else.
There are so many past supplements that can easily be used for "X" game, but modified. Whatever one owns or not, what can beat a little elbow grease and some imagination anyway?
I have never run a canned adventure, but have been in them. Either way is good if the GM makes it fun!
It is great to use past products as an idea mine :)

3.5 Dungeon Masters Guide -- No need.
3.x Epic -- Never reached that level and, to be honest, have no interest in it.
DMG might have some advice sections that would still be useful.
But definitely keep the Epic book - some nice Open content monsters in there that might get referenced. Plenty are just over 20 CR (or even under). Most have nice write-ups that the SRD version lacks.

I've kept all the "Complete" series, "Races of" series and some others but I'm not too sure I'll be allowing any of them in my games for some time.
With the final book's arrival, I think I'll need time to absorb all the new stuff, decide what I'll be house-ruling on, and then maybe look at the older stuff later.
I want balance and I'm not convinced that 3.5 material will be balanced with PF. I'm not saying that as a negative thing but I don't want all the 3.5 brokenness returning to ruin any future games.

I dont plan on tossing any of my old books. Much of the point of me going for pathfinder is I can still use alot of it. I did however get a bigger bookshelf, but that isn't just for pathfinder. I keep my miniature gaming books in the same shelf as well as books for other systems, I really needed more space. One should never have to stack books next to a bookshelf.

i am getting rid of nothing... just reorganiced my space and forced novels in 2 rows... that opened some space for the new stuff :D
i have still space... but i am unorganiced and need that was is nice be visible (second hand book are not always in their prime, and not every book looks as well, but I have no complains in general)
i am still unable to udenrstand how the CR transforms in XP in pathfinder... so i keep using what my 3.0 DMG chart tells me, it works well, same with experience to jump levels

I would get rid of 4E stuff if you have it but other than that.....
Interesting you should mention that:
Due to a change in direction in my campaign, I'll be getting rid of most of my Dungeon and Dragons supps, both from WotC (i.e. the Power books, etc.) and various 3PP (i.e., Quintessential Fighter (4E) by Mongoose, etc.).

Never ever ever get rid of books..... I always ended up regreting selling a book. I can't remember what I bought with the paltry money I got in exchange for it but I can remember thinking...."geesh, kinda could use that book right now..." I sold my mint copy (including the dice) of the expert boxed set back in 93....still missing that one..... oh and my collection of Palladium Robotech books back in 94..... wish I had those....I used the money to take a girl to a fancy restaurant. Can't remember the girl's name. I can almost still tell you the M.D.C. stats for a veritech however.... not to mention the Middle Earth Role Playing books I sold in 96.... ahhh... never ever sell books. Horde. Shelve. Box em. Save em. Ten years from now you'll thank me.

I got rid of my 4E set already. Hope they play with it more than I did. Got about what I paid for it back too.
As for my 3E stuff, you can never have enough PHBs. Yes, they are different from PF, but it's good to have extra references. Beyond that, I don't know what I might get rid of. I know I have a lot of useless things on my shelves...

I'm not getting rid of anything. I actually hope to work on completing my collection of 3.5 books.
As for finding space for Pathfinder, I have to say, it's a HUGE book. I just got it today, and the bloody thing is MASSIVE. They said it was big, but I didn't realize just how big. The thing is the width of two 3.5 books, at least. Finding space on the shelf is difficult, indeed...
