Back in February, I recruited for a PBP here, but real life issues forced me to hand over the reins to another DM before things could get off the ground (thanks to Steve Geddes/Monty Haul for doing a stellar job with that, by the way!) In any case, things have settled down now, and I'm ready to try again.
I'd like to run a group of five PCs through Beyond the Vault of Souls. I'd run this with PFRPG rules, so we're still a couple of weeks away from character creation. But, I thought I'd get out and see how much interest there would be in a 9th level planar adventure. It should be terrific good fun, Colin McComb has written a real gem for us! I'd really like to run a fairly fast-paced game, and I am very into good characterization and storytelling. Prospective players should feel the same. If this sounds like fun to you, throw your hat in the ring! It won't be first-come, first served, so don't be shy even if you're not one of the first to notice this announcement. I'll do a random draw for five players if we get more interest than that.
Now, who wants to do a little plane-hopping?

Apologies for posting here - I'd prefer to use a pm facility, but this will have to do...
Welcome back. I dont know that my performance is that stellar actually - I have just had to bow out of that game due to RL pressures.
In a desperate attempt to assuage my guilt - I dont suppose you'd be prepared to take over the J1 game as DM in addition to this one? Joanna, Nevynxxx and Lynora have been joined by Joanna's husband and they are still going strong (and are a terrific group of players) - I expect they would all welcome the chance to continue.

Steve,
Well, I've followed the game on and off, and it seemed like things had been going quite well. But I can certainly identify with real life getting in the way! It's quite ironic that I make my return on the same day that you had to bow out...at least for a while. I'll consider trying to retake the reins on the Osirion campaign, but frankly, I'm not sure if I can do as well as you did. With so much water under the bridge, it just seemed better to try something new. But, I will give it serious thought.

Well if you do decide to run this module, I'm in. I'm a frequent poster, I'm familiar with the rules, and Golarion and the Great Beyond, and I am definately into roleplaying, I like to tell stories in games.
Please consider my hat thrown in.
Welcome to the thread, vagrant-poet! You have a great resume, and look like exactly what I'd hope for in my players. Now, to hope that there are a few others who'd like to join you.
I realize it may be premature to ask, since we're still waiting on the rules, but do you have any preliminary thoughts on a character concept?

Jumping in under the circumstances mentioned by Steve above. For my background, you can see my info in the Osirion adventure thread except that I have some PbP experience now. I was in three, but all of them seem in at least some danger of not continuing. Haven't given any thought to character yet and am on the way out the door at the moment, but I'll be back later today. I just wanted to put myself in consideration.

Hi everyone, it's great to see so many interested folks!
As I said above, the game isn't full yet by any means. I'll probably announce the cast of 5-6 players sometime next week. I'm happy to see that there's plenty of interest, so this game will definitely get off the ground. There's no reason to be in a hurry to announce the players, though, since the rules for character creation aren't even available yet. ;)
In the meantime, if anybody wants to talk ideas, I'm all for it.

Early character thoughts: either a dark, crackling, dangerous cleric of Nethys or a halfling paladin of Shelyn.
I have to admit, the only planar experience I have was playing Planescape: Torment, and I never got out of Sigil.
Both of your ideas are cool, Joana. I could very easily see either one as a good fit for this adventure.
Oh, and don't worry about a lack of planar adventuring experience. That's no barrier whatsoever. (As an aside, I LOVE Planescape: Torment! Great reference!)

I was in one of Steve's other PbP games and now would like to join another one while Steve is tied up. I could play my character that I was using in Steve's Bastion PbP, or I could create a new character.
Either way let me know.
Thanks.
Doug, I'm pretty sure I'd want you to create something new for this game, if you get selected. FYI.

I'm interested.
*throws ring in hat*
If I get picked, I'd like to try an awakened animal, probably a druidic owl or a bat(the tiny one or the dire one).
I am also willing to try a bard/paladin or bard/cleric/MST, but I can always play what the party needs. But I would only have Beta PFRPG rules.
Well, to be honest, this isn't really planned as a Beta game, and I don't know yet how compatible the Beta will be with the full PFRPG release. We shall see. However, I'm pretty sure I read that there are plans for an online SRD, a la the 3.5 ones. So, it may be possible to play just fine without the full rules. Can anyone confirm this?
Archon Adept
I'm willing to play anything, but I have a cool idea for a Ranger/Mounted Archer. I'm wondering, is this going to be core PfRPG only, or are 3.5 splatbooks allowed? I'm mainly thinking of the Complete series.
It's a 'no' on the WOTC splatbooks, sorry. It will be tricky enough to DM a new rules set at 9th level just using the core rules. I can't open that can of worms.

Oh, why thank you!
I'm thinking of playing a sorcerer, with an ascendant bent. Probably Infernal bloodline, unless that conflicts with the module, otherwise I'd love to play a draconic sorcerer .
By ascendant bent I mean that he/she seeks to grow in power through influence and connections with extraplanar powers and become one with their bloodline. I'll get more in-depth when I get a go ahead on which bloodlines are cool.

Oh, actually, he will be a collector, a noble man who likes to collect wierd things.
I keep coming up with ideas, he should be fun and interesting to play, a very charming LE/LN who places absolute importance on gentlemanly behaviour, so he would never betray the party or his word to them, etc. But he is ruthless in pursuit of what he wants.

No problem, I totally understand. I hope I get a chance to play! I'm thinking a scruffy camel-riding ranger.

Not a problem, I'll be thinking of what I'd like to play. Off the top of my head I'd like to play a rogue as I haven't played one yet using the Pathfinder RPG rules, but I can play what ever is needed for the party.
Here's hopin' that I win the lottery!

Okay, Lord Kaldanis Asendror
-Born the youngest child of three to a wealthy pair of noble Chelaxian diabolists.
-His brother left the family to become a Mendevian crusader
-Kaldonis convinced his sister to abandon the family to marry the man she loved, and got her disinherited.
-He then ingratiated himself to his scheming parents, and sold out their plots to a group of adventurers leaving him the sole heir of the estate.
He has since honed his sorcererous talents, and charm and is ever seeking some path to immortality, that won't cost him his soul, whether through the devils or otherwise.

Everyone, I'll probably hold things open through tomorrow, and then cut off any other name from being submitted.
Crosses fingers! I'm excited about this game, I hope I get in! I adore the planes!!!

9TH LEVEL...that will be fun, Wizard or Cleric most likely for me then...got the "shipping next week" notice for my PFRPG book, so I'm excited!!! (I just had another of my PbP games go belly up with Zelannia...)
Which from the standpoint of my workload is good, but I like role-playing...Gambril was a fun character who cared for his mum, and disliked his drunkard of a father...
Archon Adept
All right, the moment is at hand!
I went ahead and drew six names from the hat, so here are the lucky winners!
Xaaon of Xen'Drik
Doug Greer
vagrant-poet
Joana
Zalania Sapphros (stardust)
Javell DeLeon
Sorry to the rest of you who didn't get pulled, but please hang around long enough to see whether anyone bows out early, because I will them pull a new name from the hat as a replacement.
For those who are in, let's start talking characters! I know the rules aren't quite available yet, but from the Beta and the previews, I hope that each of you can at least think of a good concept, and start writing up a background. Frankly, I prefer to have this done before we start working on any stats anyway.
And, I'd like it if you six could coordinate your efforts to come up with a fairly balanced party. I'll have a Discussion thread live in a moment, so we can work on the characters over there.
Thanks to all of you for your time and interest!
Archon Adept
Well done guys!
If a player bows out are you going to post in this thread or should we look in the discussion thread?
I would do so here, but it looks like all six have shown up in the discussion. Still, things can change so you never know. Anyway, thanks for being understanding. If I do need an alt, I'll ressurrect this thread.
