Cordal Mhoy wrote:

Cordal Mhoy started life as the scion of a wealthy Duros shipping family. That all changed when the Empire came to power and seized their ships and business for the "war effort." Cordal managed to escape being pressed into service and fled to the Outer Rim. Since that day he's been plying his trade as a freelance tech specialist and pilot in the service of any crime lord, shady smuggler or citizen with cash who would have him. Along the way he's earned the ire of the Imperials by generally out-manuevering them at every opportunity. Though he's often been suspected of smuggling or other illicit activities, he's never been caught at it and an ISP agent named Yivvkin Reys has made it her personal mission to discover his wrongdoing and see him behind bars for it.

Unfortunately his far deadlier foe is Asterin Vax, a bounty hunter that Mhoy has had run ins with repeatedly. Vax is a very by the books, always get your man type who hates that Mhoy always seems to weasel his way out of any charge. With Mhoy's constant disregard for the law and general attitude of scumliness, Vax is ready to see Mhoy pay the final price for his sins, one way or another.

Not a bad start, But I wanted at least 1 paragraph for each level :)

Okay, I've updated Ithaka to level 6. I also didn't see that it was max starting cash times two. I thought it was average, so I gave her a few more goodies. Here she is:

Spoiler:
IT-04 “Ithaka”
Destiny 3 Force Points 8 Dark Side 0
Small Droid (IT-0) Noble 6

Defenses: Reflex 20; Fortitude 16; Will 21
Hit Points 41; Threshold 16
----------------------
Spd 6 squares (Hover)
Melee +3 Electroshock probe 1d8+3 ion
Ranged +5 Blaster 3d6+3
Base Attack +4; Grapple -2
----------------------
Abilities STR 8 DEX 12 CON – INT 16 WIS 16 CHA 16

Possessions: Original Equipment: tool appendage (electroprobe), tool appendage (blaster), tool appendage (medpac), tool appendage (audio recorder), tool appendage (video recorder), claw, locked access, hovering locomotion, basic processor, vocabulator

Newly Installed Equipment: heuristic processor (5 kg, 2000 cr), tool appendage (can operate med/surgery kit) (2 kg, 20 cr), 4 medpacs (4 kg 400 cr), 1 kg load left

Owned Equipment, not carried on person: Repulsor Pad (200 cr, Force Unleashed 102), Medical Kit (600 cr), Surgery Kit (1000 cr), 35 medpacs (3500 cr)

Credits: 1880

Math:
Starting Abilities: STR 8 DEX 11 CON – INT 16 WIS 15 CHA 16, put +1 in DEX and WIS
Used average roll of 3.5 for HD (18 + (3.5 x 5) +6 = 41)
Credits (3 x 4 x 400 x 2 = 9600)
I kept all skills, feats and languages assigned in NPC stats, but this left me with 2 unused skills and 3 unused languages based upon the basic abilities and the Linguistics feat, which I then assigned myself.

I'll check out 46 in depth later but I don't think anything looks unplayable.

Ah ha! I missed that part... Doh! I'll work on it and post it later today or tomorrow morning.

Okay, my background is in the Spoilers under my profile. IF they character background is approved, I'll finish with the skills and feats this weekend.

Actually, I think I'll bow out on this opportunity, but thanks for the chance! It has inspired me to dust off my SW DM shoes and I might be putting out a PbP myself in the future. Have a great game!

Looks good, if you want the slot it's yours.

I know the feeling, GMing can be very fun. Thanks for the interest, and have fun in your games.

Sorry, just wanted to chime in and let you know I'm here still. Family obligations have decided to crop up suddenly and fiercely this weekend. I'll have my character ready, but it probably won't be until tomorrow night(I'll try and get it done in the morning if at all possible). I'll weave my background around the others as necessary, if you two who I am connected to need me to be involved somehow in your backstory, feel free to write it in and I'll include it in my write-up.

Thanks,

-Tarlane

Character finished in my profile. Let me know if there are any problems. Looking forward to the start and seeing who else we get in our party.

I can pop you into my background, but what were you thinking of playing? Are you still going for the soldier/bodyguard type?

And nice to have a slicer with us, mordulin! I'm sure Ithaka would appreciate a few "modifications" at some point. >:D

Greetings, I seek passage out of this system.

I have another question for you, splinterleaf. I just noticed that the IT-0 is listed as a 2nd degree droid in the Force Unleashed Campaign Guide. It looks like they should have been 1st degree, considering their function is a little closer to medical or scientific than a technical droid. Also, they start with 16 Charisma, which doesn't add up well with a -2 penalty for being 2nd degree. I'm wondering if you will let me choose talents and such as if IT-046 was 1st degree instead of 2nd degree. The medical droid talent on page 102 of Force Unleashed looks to be useful at some point...

Sorry. If the book lists it as 2nd degree, it's 2nd degree. You can however create a custom droid and see if you can build it around the concept you want though. I bet you can come just as close building the same droid mechanically that way and still keep your back story.

Stock droids are as is, including stats, which may sometimes be better than a custom droid would allow etc.

Got it, just wanted to check. I think I'll leave her as is. :)

So we have a jedi, a scoundrel and a droid. Who did I miss?

Currently:

1.) IT-046 "Ithaka" - Droid, Noble(5) - Approved
2.) Synystr - Human, Scoundral(6) - Approved
3.) Master Riddle - Human Jedi(6) - Approved

Open Slots [3]

Other possible characters:
Tarlane - ?
Cordal Mhoy - Bowed out.

So, a droid, a slicer and a jedi walk into a bar....

You'd think one of them would have ducked.

Master Synystr, I have this big load of cash that I need to launder and place in several identities, can you help me?

To be honest, my skills are most effective in the art of information gathering. Though I suppose if the price is right, I could be convinced to handle more illicit transactions.

I'd be interested if you're still looking for players. I'd like to use this character, from another Pbp that died an early death. I'll probably recast her background to be a mercenary/more generic resistance fighter if the Rebellion hasn't really taken off yet. Might kick her up to 6th level, as well, and sub out her medic skills for Survival or something.

Your welcome to join.

If you convert that character to my generation methods near the top of the thread, and add the back story requirements in per level as needed, I see no problems giving Veeta a second shot at life.

Even though this is planned on being alternate history, I psuedo matched the time line right before open hostilities arise against the Empire. So secretly, things are already in motion.

Max HP, BTW?

Master Riddle wrote:

Ya, max HP is fine, easier to keep track of.

Booyah!

I do not have the proper physiology to duck. I suggest you choose another metaphor. I'm sure I can select one for you.

Are we ready to proceed to the IC thread?

We only have 3 players done, I don't think that we're ready to start the IC thread just yet. We have 2 interested working on characters, so I will give them time to submit and see if we have one more interested party.

I believe Veeta has been brought up to spec. Let me know if there's anything else that needs modification.

Veeta looks good, but what does being a near human do? Not familiar with that. Is that a race in itself?

I'm interested in playing & the game I was in kind of evaporated.

I don't have a concept off the top of my head, but I'm running a Saga edition game myself & there's plenty of NPC concepts that I can flesh out into a PC.

Do up a character, I have 2 open slots still only 1 other in progress.

Statistically it's just a human, only a little different flavor. Some races, like Arkanians, are described as specific types of near-humans with different abilities, but others are just vanilla homo sapiens with the serial numbers filed off and a new paint-job. All Veeta has is the standard bonus feat and extra skill - and the the mutant ability to shoot Death Star lasers out of her eyes, but I thought I'd wait until the game gets started before bringing that up ;)

Okay, I have a character half-written up... Human Scout 3/Soldier 3. The background is getting overly long for this time of night, so I will stop for now & get back to it tomorrow.

The tone is Western, and the character is mostly inspired by gunfighters and cowboys of that era.

He's not out of place in polite company, and he's studied philosophy & psychology (somewhere, but that's not in the backstory yet)... but as the gunmen of the West often were, Cuss Wilvern is a wolf amongst civilized men.

Here's the background so far...

Spoiler:

Clement "Cuss" Wilvern grew up on a moisture farm on Tatooine, the youngest of three sons. His parents were long-time descendants of Human outlaws, driven out to the fringes of space to scrape out a humble agrarian existence. While Cuss' parents were well-meaning and gentle folk, Cuss always had the outlaw streak in him (like his ancestors)... but it was tempered by the kindness and devotion that his parents gave to him as their youngest child.

Tatooine wasn't a kind or gentle place for a Human boy, however. Their closest neighbors (discounting the Tusken Raiders) were a band of spice-smuggling gangsters who owed allegiance to the local Hutts. Two other moisture farmers also had spreads within speeder distance of the Wilvern homestead. His closest friends were Maslow Wren (the bastard son of a spice smuggler) and Ruth Turner (the pretty daughter of one of the nearby moisture farmers). Maslow, Ruth, and the young Cuss were all equally adept at "borrowing" their family speeder in order to spend time together as friends in the harsh outlands of Tatooine.

Friendship with someone from a gang of bandits and smugglers would not end well for Cuss. When childhood ended and young adulthood began, Cuss and Maslow soon developed a rivalry for their friend Ruth's blossoming womanly charms. While Cuss was a clever and daring boy, born of outlaw stock, Maslow was raised amongst outlaws & had little moral guidance in his upbringing to moderate his wanton and criminal urges.

When Ruth declared her preference for the young Cuss instead of Maslow, that began the final ending for Cuss' childhood innocence. Maslow set a plan in motion, planting rumors of hidden wealth at the Wilvern homestead. These rumors did not fall on deaf ears in the company of smugglers and bandits, the people whom Maslow had grown up with for all of his life. A group of murderous outlaws fell upon the Wilvern homestead and killed Cuss' entire family.

As fate would have it, Cuss was out in the wilderness at the time, looking up at the stars in the company of Ruth Turner. Cuss and Ruth dreamed of escaping the hardscrabble life on Tatooine, and making it to a big important planet like Coruscant... but it was not to be. Maslow knew the place where Cuss and Ruth were stargazing, having spent much of their childhood there together as a trio.

Maslow, armed with a pistol, confronted Cuss - whose blaster rifle lay nearby. At close range, the man with the pistol always wins. Maslow shot Cuss and watched him fall off the rock where they were standing. Believing Cuss to be dead, Maslow turned his brutish intentions towards the object of his desires - Ruth Turner. When she again denied Maslow's advances, and vowed never to speak with him again, Maslow threatened her with violence... and his pistol accidentally went off, killing young Ruth where she stood.

Cursing Cuss Wilvern for spoiling his would-be romance with Ruth Turner & believing Cuss to be dead, Maslow returned to the gang of smugglers & bandits.

Cuss was not dead, however. While seriously injured, Cuss survived the pistol shot and the fall. Ruth Turner's kin found him and the dead Ruth, and nursed Cuss back to health.

?To be continued*******

Welcome,Cuss.

I'm familiar with the offshots, which have their own species write up etc, but mechanically if you doing the same as a human I have no prob with a light fluff of near human then.

Sounds interesting, I look forward to seeing him role play. I'd say he'd fit in pretty good.

Character concepts Currently Approved:

1.) IT-046 "Ithaka" - Droid, Noble(5) - Approved
2.) Synystr - Human, Scoundral(6) - Approved
3.) Master Riddle - Human Jedi(6) - Approved
4.) Vetta - Human(ish) - Scout(3)/Soldier(3) - Approved
5.) Cuss - Human(ish) - Scout(3)/Soldier(3) - Approved

6.) reserved a few more days for Tarlane if he's still interested.

As long as no glaring math errors, or overpowered illegal builds are done, you should all be set to play these guys.

It looks like we have 2 potential Bounty Hunters in the midst, which will be interesting as well. I'll 'probably' be ready to kick off the game this weekend. SO fine tune any story elements you want to develop and I'll get some story goodness cooked up for the start that sets the current games atmosphere, or lack thereof if I decide to hull breach you.

OK, I wouldn't do that game 1, but that may be fun.

Ha, I filled up the text box in the Profile & it won't take any more. This is problematic since Cuss currently has no inventory, no physical description, etc. I'll probably just bullet point a lot of the background & move a full story onto a wiki or Google doc.

As for being on the road to becoming a Bounty Hunter or similar... Yep. It was either this or a Jedi.

Cuss is a shootist and pistolero in the tradition & spirit of the American West. Hopefully there isn't too much overlap between Cuss and the other, though the Western isn't quite as popular a genre as it used to be.

Condense those thoughts and you should be fine, though honestly it doesn't look like you have a heck of a lot of text there.

Greetings, Cuss. Should you find need of medical assistance, I am able to oblige.

Oh, splinterleaf, Ithaka has been updated to level 6, just so you know.

I would be interested in joining your game if your sixth player doesn't show up. I'll look at the rules and come up with a character concept and post tonight or tomorrow night. I haven't yet played Star Wars Saga, but have looked through the books some.

Your welcome to join, and newbies to the game are welcome. If you want to try it i'll let you in as the last, and just let tarlane join when he is ready. 7 wont be too large for a mid level game.

Didn't get time to wrap up Cuss last night because the kids were both having trouble getting to sleep. I've moved what I needed off to google docs and I'll work on Cuss' info later today.

I see Veeta heading more towards Elite Trooper, kind of a no-nonsense professional type, so I think there's plenty to distinguish her from Cuss (who sounds like fun - maybe they know each other from Veeta's time marooned on Tattooine?). Honestly, I built her as kind of a Duracell (takes a licking, keeps on ticking). I'm interested to see how much punishment she can take with her talents (Evasion, Indomitable) and feats (Improved Damage Threshold, Improved Defenses, Shake It Off).

Ket is greenlighted.

I'll see if I can get an "opening crawl at least" for the tomorrow or Saturday while I check out the characters more in depth this weekend. I expect to get some short intro scenarios for each characters going soon.

Sorry, another question. Is it too late to switch my gear a bit? I think I found a better use of 20 of my medpacs. I'd like to swap them for the +2 STR droid upgrade, so I can actually carry some of my medical supplies. Both cost 2000 cr, so I have enough.

I haven't even looked at gear yet, so until we start your safe to swap.
