Spoiler:
Born on the Outer Rim planet of Nishr into the family of a minor feudal lord, Veeta Senn's childhood was a pleasant one until the Emperor's Order 66 threw it into disarray. Her younger brother, Vrakis, was deemed to have potential as a Jedi and began training with the Jedi Watchman assigned to the system, a kindly man who did his best to calm Nishr's violent clan rivalries. Veeta had no talent in the Force, training instead with her father's sworn warriors (Soldier 1), but visited her brother often. Then the Empire's hunters arrived. Veeta, present on one of her monthly visits, managed to escape with her brother in the slain Jedi's space transport. Plotting a random course with the ship's hyperdrive, the pair emerged in Hutt space near Nar Shadaa. Before Veeta could try to land, the crippled ship fell prey to pirates. Although she fought valiantly to protect her brother, killing two of the pirates in the twisting passages of the damaged ship (Soldier 2), Veeta eventually was subdued by the villains, who sold the siblings into slavery on the Smuggler's Moon. Bought by a Hutt crime lord, Veeta's brother was forced into service as a house-slave, while the comely young woman was given over to one of the Hutt's human lieutenants as a concubine. Her career as a pleasure slave lasted a grand total of 36 seconds. After Veeta killed one of the lieutenant's bodyguards and blinded another with her bare hands, her Hutt master - amused by the bloodshed - entered her into the local gladiator circuit, where she earned him a considerable stack of credits over the next two years (Solder 3). Her slavery ended in 6 BBY, during the chaos created by another Imperial Jedi-hunting exercise. The explosive distraction allowed Veeta to escape her quarters near the arena and gain entry into her Hutt master's estate. Killing several guards along the way, she found her brother and escaped, but not before facing down the Hutt's lieutenant, Lukas Fesh, in single combat. Her victory marked the second time Veeta had humiliated the man, and Fesh (who left the Hutt's service shortly thereafter to start his own pirate crew) has sworn to take revenge on the violet-eyed warrior. Seeking to lose themselves among the backwater planets of the Outer Rim (Scout 1), Veeta and her brother used the dilapidated freighter they'd stolen to make a living as freelance couriers. But her brother's developing powers made it difficult to stay under the radar - constantly picking fights, Vrakis gained a perverse thrill from cowing his opponents with flashy displays of the Force. It wasn't long before the Empire's inquisitors took notice. The pair were ambushed during a cargo run to Tatooine. Left for dead by the attackers, Veeta regained consciousness to find her brother gone and her transport in flames. Sure he somehow had survived, she spent the next six months searching for clues across the galaxy (Scout 2). She eventually ran out of money, and began hiring herself out as a mercenary enforcer, where her tolerance for punishment and knack for surviving against the odds served her well (Scout 3). Willing to take almost any job if the price was right, she refused to work for the Empire and frequently offered her services at a discount if the job might damage the Empire in some way. It was through such work that she developed a number of contacts with various nascent resistance groups. Unwilling to give up the search for her brother, she has not signed up full time with any rebel force, instead making do with odd jobs and the occasional pro bono assignment.
GM NOTES: Spoiler:
The Hutt lord who once owned Veeta likely is a minor antagonist - although he feels the need to exact punishment for her escape, he's always been amused by her ingenuity and vigor, tempering his motivation to track her down. Lukas Fesh, the Hutt's former lieutenant, is another matter - only Veeta's death, preferably at his own hands, will satisfy his thirst for vengeance and restore his pride. Now a minor pirate-lord in his own right, he keeps feelers out for any news of Veeta's location. Finally, Veeta's brother, Vrakis, is another potential antagonist. I've left it open what actually happened, but he might have been captured by the Empire and recruited as one of Vader's or the Emperor's apprentices/inquisitors. Veeta will try to rescue and redeem him, but he may not welcome her help.
