Guide to templates?

Is there one? I know they're not meant for PCs perse, but if one has been made that rates and discusses the template for both PC and NPC use, I'd love to view it.

I'm currently playing a character that will eventually be getting one wish and was thinking of taking a template or two if the DM allows it, and it seems like he probably will. Odds are he won't let it go past +2 or +3, which is perfectly fair of course, but I'm not sure which might be the best, thus why I'm looking for a potential guide to them.

Alacritious seems pretty excellent. Doesn't have immunities (which I generally love), but constant freedom of movement and major speed boost seem awesome.

Nightmare seems awfully enticing for a +1 template. Regeneration, DR and some nasty abilities are pretty cool.

Mutant seems like it has huge potential due to the spell-like ability, fast healing, DR and such, although I'm not sure I like the idea of my character looking mutated. I especially like the immunity to mind affecting stuff one can get.

Not sure he'd allow it, but maybe I could be an Eldritch Humanoid. Build a template as it were.

Anyways, I digress... a lot. Might there be such a guide?

If you have to ask whether or not it's too strong, it probably is. XD

The best templates for PCs tend to have minimal ability boosts and focus on a straightforward selection of abilities. The Psychic templates are a pretty good example of this, offering new powers based around a central theme as you get stronger.

Honestly, the best thing to do is probably talk to your GM and ask which template(s) they think are thematically appropriate for your character. They can help ensure you get something fun without breaking the game too much. XD
