[Paladin] Lay-on-hands - Semantics change?

Classes: Cleric, Druid, and Paladin

Right now, the Paladin can exchange uses of Lay On Hands to fuel other abilties, such as Channel and Remove Disease. This makes sense, and helps manage resources.

The trouble is the wording. Channel Energy consumes two 'Lay on Hands uses'. That's clunky. The Monk, who got a similar makeover of his spell-like abilities, uses Ki points.

I suggest that the Paladin be given a pool of 'Faith points' which are otherwise identical to the current functionality. Lay on Hands would consume one faith point.

I realize I'm a bit late on this one.

Comments?

Actually, that sounds like a good idea to me. Goes right along with a Barbarian's Rage points, and a Monk's Ki points. (Now if we could do something to fix the lay on hands ability itself...)

Have you already looked at this thread? IMHO, Lay on Hands has taken a boost, with this new alternate system (both in usefulness and in power)...

One of the group I'm currently playing with has no Cleric, but a Paladin as a Healer and tank - and is quite effective, I must add.

At the time of my post, I had not. I've read it since and am now looking forward to seeing the revised Lay on Hands ability in action.

nitpicking, but yeah. '2 lay on hands uses' does sound odd.

It might make things more confusing to put everything in the context of faith points, though.

If you changed it to faith points, then smite evil can cost faith points as well, unifying all of the paladin's abilities. It will also help out players who want more of a protective non-smitey character and those who want to be a holy avenger and not heal.
