Players, please indicate your acceptance and provide a link to your character stats.

Play will begin once I have acceptances from all players.

Also, please indicate how familiar you are with the Golarion world. This could save me a lot of typing!

I'm in, playing Torillan Ellandilas, Half-elf Rogue level 1. I'll be editing the stats during the day.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

I'll be Ralf Pennywhistle, halfling paladin.

So I have a few questions:

-I guess we have to roll our level 1 hit points and double it. So if I roll a "1", that means I'll start with 2 hp, right?

-How much money do we start with?

No, you don't roll. It's double your hit die maximum, plus your CON bonus, plus other bonuses.

So for a paladin, it's 20 + bonuses.

Starting gold is the maximum from Table 7.1 in the PFRPG Beta book, i.e. 300 for a Paladin.

Keep in mind that in return for this DM generosity, the monsters will play smart...!

I would recommend the RotR Player's Guide to all players. It has a lot of useful fluff, a few extra rules, and a cool map. It can be obtained for the price of a cheeseburger from here, or might even be free if you've bought certain other things.

That said, it's no biggie if you can't/don't want to get it. Just let me know.

Oh, thank goodness. I have terrible luck with hit points...

Another question: are we using Jason's additional rules for paladins? I'll find the thread where he posted them; basically it's some tweaks for smiting and laying on hands.

Here's the thread where Jason listed the changes:

Yes, good catch. The PFRPG is still a work in progress so we'll deal with things like this on a case to case basis. But these are approved.

If there are any other "Beta 2" rules that affect your characters, please bring them to my attention here.

I'm in as Poh Twice-Burned, Shoanti Barbarian. Finishing up character sheet in my profile right now.

I'm pretty familar with Golarion as well. Not a lore master by any stretch though.

Oh, and I am familiar with Golarion. :-)

As far as Golarian familiarity, I have the Campaign Setting and I've looked through it a number of times.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human

Hey there i'll go ahead and make an avatar for the gnome sorcerer.

i'm not very familiar with Golarion as a whole, I know some bits and pieces, but i'll make sure to spend some time with that players guide

Female Elf Witch/2nd

Heres a little abberant gnome sorcerer...gnomes can have skin/hair color of any color found in nature, right?

also, i wanted to ask DM apporoval on something, abberant sorcerers get acidic ray as their 1st lvl bloodline power, and i was wondering if i could say he fires aforementioned ray from his mouth, for RP effect.

I see no reason why not.

Ralf Pennywhistle is mostly done; I just need to buy a few more things and add some background to his sheet.

Let me know if you see any errors.

The game thread is now open, for a bit of roleplay while everyone gets their characters finished up.

Quick question: Do we get to choose one of the feats in the PG for free? It suggests that possibility, but I wanted to run it by you first before I chose.

No, you can't have them for free, but you can choose them normally.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Alright, Poh's sheet is done. I'll be posting in the RP thread soon.

Thank you. The rules in the player's guide are rather vague on the subject of barbarian chew. Unless someone can point to a clarification from another source, we'll assume that a 15gp purchase gets you 10 'doses'. Eating some is a provoking standard action (assuming you have the pouch to hand), the effects happen immediately. Same as drinking a potion, basically.

Nice, I get an answer to a question I didn't even get to ask yet. ;)

Alright; I think Torillan's character sheet is done. His money is spread out in his clothes, so no more than 20 gp are in one spot (boots, sleeves, inside pockets...)

I've had a quick look over your character sheets, and I've found a few littel tweaks required:

Torillian

Spoiler:
Is missing either one hitpoint or one skill rank assuming that he has chosen Rogue as his favoured class.

Poh

Spoiler:
Is missing at least one skill rank (4 for barbarian, +1 for human, -1 for INT).

Is missing either one hitpoint or one skill rank assuming that he has chosen Barbarian as his favoured class.

Davven

Spoiler:
Hitpoints are 14, not 16. Only the hitdie is doubled, not any bonuses, so it is (2x6)+2

Male Human

ah i see..you are correct

Liberty's Edge

Male Human

is it just the 3 of us?

what happened to stegger?

Memento Mori wrote:

There are four, but I couldn't find anything wrong with Ralph's stats!

Nothing from Stegger after his initial post agreeing to play a cleric. We'll carry on for the moment and readvertise if necessary.

Spoiler:
Taking 1 Skill Point for Barbarian Favored class should bring my total to 5 Skill Ranks at 1st. (4 for Barbarian, +1 for Human, +1 for Favored Class, -1 for Int.)

I have 3 Ranks in Intimidate, 1 Rank in Ride, and 1 Rank in Survival.

Ah, you're still in 3.5 mode. Pathfinder skills work slightly differently. You can't put more ranks into a skill than you have levels, so you can't buy more than one rank at first level. However, any skills that you have ranks in that are also class skills get a +3 bonus.

This is good - it means you have better skills than you thought you did, and more skill points to spend!

Yeah, after I posted that I went and looked at skills again and just read the new changes. My goof. Correcting it now.

Actually, its Torillan, no "i" after the "L's"... :-)

Anyhoo, I took the one extra skill point. And the Skill Monkey flips the switch.... ;-)

Male Human Ranger 1

Hey all, I'll be you cleric for this adventure. Just letting you all know that I will be an active poster, but I won't have the sheet done when I had expected. It should be done by this evening though.

male human oracle 5 (lore mystery, stargazer archetype, words of power)

Welcome to the club, buddy! Clerics rock, but I've kind of maxed myself out on clerics lately...

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I realise that people's lives are still in flux because of New Year, but once that it out of the way, I'd like to chivvy things along a bit, as the game has been somewhat slow so far. Can everyone commit to at least 3 posts a week on average?

Male Human Ranger 1

Normally, I can do a post a day, at the very least. However, I will be on vacation starting the 12 of January and won't be back until around the 9th of February. While it doesn't mean I will disappear from the boards. It does mean that I won't be on nearly as much. If during this time, I am holding up the rest of the party, feel free to NPC Borden so that the story is not being held up.

I should be able to keep up 3 posts a week.

I should be good with 3 posts per week (or even more). I should note, however, that a play-by-post game sometimes benefits from a DM who isn't afraid to move the action along. For instance, waiting for a unanimous consensus on every decision is not usually necessary.

Who are we waiting for before we proceed further with the game?

hogarth wrote:

The barbarian - "Poh Only-Posted-Twice". Still, I am calling time and will autopilot him. I'll have the next post up in about an hour.

Actually, no I won't. It's 2am here, and my brain refuses to work. I'll do it in the morning.

Apologies for that. I woke up in the morning to find that, in a 'famous last words' way, my internet connection had died.

I'm now back at work, so as soon as the boss goes for lunch a post will be forthcoming.

That was me. This is also me.

Post up.

None of you speak goblin - please correct me if I'm wrong.

Davven - unless I've missed something, casting Mage Armour and Acid Ray are both standard actions, so you can't do both in the same round.

Midnight Dancer wrote:

I know Ralf doesn't. He's just yelling at them in Common.

Well, we appear to have ground to a halt. Is anyone out there?

I am, but you probably know that. :-)

Male Human Ranger 1

I'm here, just waiting on everyone else

Well, hogarth and dathom, what shall we do?

Give up?

Look for new players? "Meanwhile, in another part of Sandpoint..."

Suggestions please.

I'd suggest just recruiting new players and starting again from scratch (since we didn't really get rolling).

If we reboot, I might try something different. Maybe a druid...

I'm all for starting over with new recruits, but I must warn you that as I had posted earlier, I won't be able to post regularly until February and might have to be NPCed if I can't get online for a period of time. That said, if you get new recruits, it would be better to start over as I have been in games where people came in after the start but still early in the game and strangely each seems to have died. If you give the feeling of having started from the very beginning, I think there is a better chance of keeping people around. Also, if we start over, I was thinking about coming in with maybe a Ranger or a rogue, especially if holdrath switchs to a druid. However, if we do start over, and you think the group would need the extra divine might, then I will stay with the cleric.
