It's decided. The elections are over, can we please get back to rolling some freakin' dice? The Off Topic section has been positively annoying lately and I can't wait to get back to good ol' absurdity. I'll give you a few weeks to get it all out of your system.
Have fun and bubblezoid, wooly goldfish mannequin flesh monkey!

God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of his own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players, to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.

...and did Obama thank Dungeons & Dragons crowd for disparaging a fellow countryman's memory of war? No, he didn't. He didn't even address a rift between 3rd and 4th edition...I am disappointed.
Yeah, but that's where his "Change we can believe in" slogan comes into play. The One will thank us by bringing back all the mythological creatures, just so live action role playing can be more realisitc. Why, just this morning I swear I saw a unicorn on the side of the road...

He didn't thank all the gnomes who voted for him...
Rawr !
I heard that most gnomes didn't vote, because they were busy looking for their badger minions.

Really? I thought it was because they're monsters now. Monsters aren't allowed to vote.

You should just be glad I suspended my campaign to deal with the economy of action crisis. I think I really could have won over the electorate with my anti-family, mandatory gay marraige platform.

I frankly came to Paizo done.
For three years, in just about any area of the board, I'd have to intermittently hear Bush bashing, or Christian bashing, or Conservative bashing, or U.S. bashing, and it was not only tolerated, it was "business as usual."
What did it have to do with anything? F$!$ if I know.
So, I really doubt it will end. It's always been that way.

Even though I'm on the other side of the coin, I'm with ya Heathy. So tired of this us vs. them mentality thats pervasive. It's not going to help and is hurting us way more. And I don't know if it will make ya feel better, but I'm sorry that the 'other team' makes you sad. Hugs? Pizza? Friends?
I think my motto for the election was WHY CAN'T WE JUST BE FRIENDS YOU JERKS?!

The politics of division. The business of hate. The freedom of having your opinion stifled. The enlightenment of those who close their minds to other people's right to have their own mind.
Ain't our modern society just grand?

Daigle FTW. I could not agree more, and I'm really glad someone else said it. Every single day there's been a new politics thread, usually with an unnecessarily inflammatory title, which goes into the same b%*+#%#@ with the same players. It's ridiculous. Gaming is bigger than editions, bigger than systems, and a hell of a lot bigger than politics. If you want to talk about politics, go find a forum dedicated to that topic - I suspect there are at least one or two sites out there for that purpose on the intratubes.

I would suggest it's as much perspective as it is reality, but then again, that might just be my perspective. I find that I encounter the opposite of the opinions you outline above more often than not, but I would guess that it's because I'm more sensitized to them. The edition wars were the same way - members on each side would claim attacks from the other side were more common or accepted. I believe this is the same thing - you notice the posts with which you disagree and have a stronger emotional reaction than the ones with which you agree.
In any event, I apologize for contributing to your angst. I've been generally avoiding the politics threads in any substantive kind of way and I intend to continue to do so. I'm happy to discuss politics with reasonable people such as yourself, but those aren't the type that frequent politics discussions on the internet. Don't let the fanatics and morons taint your view of this community or those who share the views they purport to represent.

Thanks Daigle. I've found I've been posting far less than normal just because it has been getting tedious sifting through so much that I truly don't care about.
And Heathy -- I agree with you, but I think it has gotten more so over the last three years than just the same. It really feels to me like people much more have their opinion that is "right" (about most anything) and anyone that doesn't agree with them is "wrong". Politics this year have been truly painful -- but I think my biggest fear is that it won't stop with the election.

You'd better damn well have been assimilated by the Cult of Jack and had your blood replaced with a liquid capable of boiling, or I will literally hunt you down and make you eat this post.
And given that the post is electronic, I think this will require a trip to Paizo HQ to consume their server.
Or, to put it another way: ROAD TRIP!

You actually haven't. When you posted "wow, the troop buildup actually worked," instead of twiddling your thumbs and hoping nobody noticed that Bush was.......*right*........ you were somewhat of a rolemodel to me and whatnot. I stopped considering you a sheep, if I ever had.

What's the point of sending narcoleptics to the US?
They'd be better off down your way; you have siesta!
the "siesta" depends on the state or the city :P where i cam from originally have no such thing :P that is something for small towns... or big towns who believe they are cities :P like Hermosillo :P where i currently live :P
i do not believe in siesta :P if i sleep more than 5hours i feel i am lossing my life in useless time :P
and we send narcoleptics so we don't have to deal with them :P

Right, because intellectual humor has no place here.
Let's get back to things how they are suppose to be. Somebody start barfing. We need a dead horse here. And for smurf's sake everyone start replacing every other smurf with smurf. This is Smurfo for smurf's sake.

Better yet, let's go back to random vehement outbursts about Bush, Conservativism, Christianity, the U.S.A., followed by either
1)ignoring it and hoping it will go away, or
2)retorting, to be followed by 1d20 random people telling us not to talk about politics;
rinse and repeat;
that was just so homey.
