I'm very pleased to announce the new hardcover monster book for the Pathfinder RPG:
The greatest monsters of fantasy gaming come alive in the very first hardcover release for Paizo’s new Pathfinder Roleplaying Game! Backward-compatible with the 3.5 fantasy rules but packed with new solutions and options that place it firmly on the cutting edge, the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is the culmination of the largest open playtest in tabletop RPG history.
This lavishly illustrated, full-color tome contains new takes on more than 250 of the best-loved, most popular monsters of fantasy ready for instant use in your Pathfinder or 3.5 campaign! From the comedic-but-deadly goblin to the world-killing Tarrasque, The Pathfinder Bestiary contains a wide range of foes suitable for battles with characters of all experience levels.
The book’s innovative design and presentation—each monster receives either a full page or two-page spread—makes for an easy reference book that is also fun to read and delightful to flip through and enjoy as a gallery of the industry’s strongest fantasy art. With a cover by fan-favorite Wayne Reynolds and new takes on classic monsters from the best of Paizo’s in-house and freelance designers and artists, The Pathfinder Bestiary will set a new standard for RPG monster books in a way that only Paizo can deliver.
Click on the product's title to preorder! The cover on the page is a mock-up. WAYNE REYNOLDS is currently sketching the final cover.
WOOT!

Look forward to seeing this.
Edit:
I seriously hope you guys consider some uiversally useful templates for inclusion in this book. Such as regional templates (egs - artic, arid) as well as cultural templates (egs - nomadic, cultured, educated), as well as "touched" (planes, outsiders, undead, cheese-biscuits).
Heck, these templates could be rolled into 3 core ones, with a table that the region/cultural/touched effect is selected from.
And substitution levels. Why not have one class racial subsitition levels as well.
And weapons....
Stopping before I start contemplating what a cheese-biscuit Kender would use in combat...

Will the stat blocks be the same? What can we expect in terms of subheadings for the monsters (e.g., ecology)? Will there be knowledge checks for info?
We are working on the best format for presentation of the info. I imagine we'll be posting something to the blog within a month or so that will show off what we're thinking.
The answer right now is "not quite sure, ask again soon."
The goal is to include more ecological information and "fun stuff" than what's in the 3.5 SRD, that's for sure.

I have faith it will be packed with awesome. Can't wait to hear more on the blog.
Can I sleep soundly at night knowing that this will automatically be included in one of my subscriptions?

My guess is that the PF Bestiary is NOT part of any subscription, just like the PF Game book is not. However, that is just a guess.

Right now, no.
Of course, the Pathfinder Advantage will apply to this item.
Truth be told, we will probably set up a NEW subscription for rulebooks in the Pathfinder RPG line, but that's a bit off in the distance.
No offense Erik, but don't we have enough subscriptions? Just asking.
Edit - As in count me in as a NO for that kind of subscription. Sorry.

I'd be happy with a subscription, only because it makes things cheaper to get shipped to me. I'll preorder it anyway and hope you guys are awesome and ship it with my subscription going out that month anyway. :)

Well, I got fascinated by meaningless titles in the Army ...sue me.
Superscriber means you're subscribed to all the Pathfinder subscriptions. Charter means you subscribed to Pathfinder (APs) before Burnt Offerings shipped. From there each subscription has it's own Subscriber tag (like Planet Stories) if you only subscribe for just it.

Basically a 'superscriber' subscibes to every subscription possible. The 'charter' refers to being one of the people who shelled out for a subscription to Pathfinder right after the traumatic Dungeon and Dragon magazine extinction of '07.

[rant on soapbox]
My one problem with having too many subscriptions is that I am on a budget. That means that I have only so much gaming money to spent. If something gets behind over at Paizo, then my budget suffers. Now I have a built in safeguard to protect against such overatures, but that means I have to be careful in other areas. If Paizo could guarantee a REGULAR day of the month that everything ships and no delays, then I might be ok with another subscription. If not, then nix that idea and I will buy the stuff when I can. Sorry Paizo, but until I am debt free, that is the way things are.

Sell plasma.
~gives an evil grin~ Well, poodle boy, maybe I will use yours.
I admit, I could swing another subscription without too much hassle, but right now I am subscription leery. Sorry for the rant earlier, but it is a valid issue. ~thinks~ All I would have to do is work two hours overtime and that puppy is paid for with a little extra left over, but overtime is always iffy.

I feel ya, Sharoth. I had to cancel my subs to pay for med. care :(
And even if I hadn't, I'd have to cut back or stop anyway. Just too much awesome stuff coming out at once.
Wishes for Paizo Lay-A-Way plan :)

I do miss my sub. though. Gave me something to read. I miss my Charter and supersciber tag though more, heh.

Please seriously consider adding a brief relevant knowledge table for each monster or broad group of monsters. Also consider keying the difficulties not to HD but to rarity.
And, obviously, bring back rarity!
We won't be adding knowledge tables to each monster. Those tables take up too much room and basically just parrot information we've already said elsewhere on the same page. Far better to give better guidance in the PF RPG about how to reveal information about monsters in the Knowledge skill check section.

Yes, please. So I can place the preorder for my subscription...hay, wait a minute. Oh well preordered until the wallet vampire Rulebook Subscription is available.
I am in as long as a subscription includes the PDFs. I am not even sure why I get the print versions anymore, the other day I realized I had finished running the first 3 APs and none of their bindings were cracked. I run off a laptop and put all my visual aids on the titanic HDTV but for some reason I like to have the books on the shelf, each AP in its own magazine file. How are we expected to use these books, they look so good who would want to crack one? ;)
