Well, the Panthers shot at making the playoffs is pretty much toast at this point. I seriously doubt they can run the table and finish at 9-7, which would be their only hope.
Lots of injuries to key players, worst of all Luke Keuchly. Time to put them on injured reserve and use the rest of the games as scrimmages to get the rookies some in-game experience.
Maybe we can pick up some good draft picks and spend all that cap money sitting in the till.

While I have actively been rooting against Carolina this year (like most), Kuechly's reaction to his injury had me scared. His presence for the rest of that game, and the most recent one, may have been enough to change things for 'em. But they'll be back next season. If, by some near-miracle, they make the playoffs, they'd wind up facing Atlanta or Det/GB/Minn (still too close for me to call NFC North), and I think they'd lose 3 of those 4 matchups, honestly.

I *used* to 'feel' for the Patriots after the Bears beat them in XX. But after certain political events and the feeling they were being shoved down my throat as 'America's New Team' during their Superball Supremacy years (not to mention the antics of Darth Belichex and the questionable ethics of their entire organization) my empathy for them evaporated.
Worry about the players there, even the worst miscreants.
I like Green Bay's external organization (I mean, seriously, a share-holder organization that routinely offers shares for sale? What's not to like??) but some of their personnel choices in the past have lacked character and integrity.
I've started flip-flopping on the Bronx. HATE with a passion that they have an unfair competitive edge (don't tell me having a near mile of altitude over most other cities is *not*) and couldn't stand Elway as a player, but they were willing to give Manning a chance after the Colts dumped him, and Kubiak has always had this imagery of the 'scrappy underdog' with me for some reason...
However, locally? Da Beers need to be put back in the fridge, they're not nearly cold enough for drinking and not nearly warm enough to use to water the local plant life.
I hope Jay's surgery works out for him, but Chicago definitely needs a new direction. Perhaps even something retro-esque. Y'know, solid running backed by chain-moving passing with deep threats?

Cutler's gotta go. Time to move on.
I hope Gronk's okay, too; Brady's best weapon is out, though -- too bad.
Questionable ethics?? Pfft. I have yet to see anything that convinces me the Patriots are an exception to the general practices of most organizations -- Goodell and Co. just seized a flimsy opportunity to leverage the CBA. The other "scandals" might have a little more traction, but Deflategate was nothing but a joke -- the proof lies in the second half of the AFC Championship game against the Colts.
Anyhow.
How do y'all see the playoff picture coming together?

DISCLAIMER: This is *very* tongue-in-cheek, but pertinent to impending responses --
inb4 Cole goes an an epic anti-Patriot rant...
However, the Saints are still alive! As much as I'd like them to just fully tank at some point and get some picks they manage to string me along pretty much each season with hope.
Wait, -- what??!! You mean Bountygate hasn't ruled them out yet? Surely those conniving Aints don't merit high regard . . . .

Just so they stay out of L.A. I'd hate to have to drop them just as they're getting good.
Playoff-wise, I live in dread of a Cowboys/Patriots final, but the NFC seems to be doing its best to contribute their half of that dreaded equation. The AFC... Well, the AFC West is exciting, the East is the Belicheat Variety Hour, and the north and south are in full-bore "who cares?" status.
So I'm basically gonna stay glued to the happenings in the AFC West, 'cause everywhere else seems locked up or irrelevant.

I'm thinking last night there were some Gator fans who actually thought Florida might pull off the upset win over Bama - for about 5 minutes. Then Bama did there thing.
Well, I guess it's going to be another National Championship game with Bama steam-rolling over whatever other poor saps get thrown into their meat-grinder.
I hope I'm wrong. I'd love to see them lose.

So yesterday I faced my brother in a fantasy playoff match. All our players went Sunday. I was done with the afternoon games and he had the final player, Dez Bryant, in the NYG vs. Dallas game. He was up by half a point with a player to go; I thought I was done. I stopped watching the games and did some chores.
Later on, I came into the living room and my ol lady was watching SNF. She said, "its forth quarter and Dez doesn't have a single catch!" It was a nice gesture, but I told her, "babe he has me by half a point Dez would have to.........WTF JUST HAPPENED!?" Yeap, Dez fumbles his catch, the first time he has done so in like 3 seasons, putting me up by half a point advancing me in the playoffs. The league is a buzz and my bro is pissed, but such is fantasy life.

I stopped paying attention to football weeks ago.
If there was a less exciting season, I don't remember it.
Alright! Fine! The season the Ravens won the super bowl was pretty f!&$ing not exciting.
This season is pretty exciting down here in North Texas, but that's because the Cowboys fans (I'm Packers man myself) haven't had any reason to be happy in quite a while.

Even though G-men had their number twice, I don't think they can make it thrice.
Packers making a comeback, but I'm hoping it wont last (going against Rogers this week :)

I'm betting you're not thinking Goodell is the prime candidate for said pillory . . . .
Goodell doesn't need one- he hasn't got blindly loyal jersey-buyers in his corner the way team organizations do.
Case in point: Comments about how boring this season has been, to say nothing of a CLEARLY uneven approach to discipline. Blame the Presidential election, blame "unknown factors," blame ANYTHING but the fact that the product I suffering under his inept leadership.
He doesn't need a pillory because no one I know thinks he's handling things properly.

Regardless of how well the remainder of the season goes (I have high hopes given that the receiving core has finally remembered how to catch a ball), I'd bet decent money that this is McCarthy's last season in GB.

Clearly, after losing to the Rams(of ALL teams!) repeatedly, they resorted to PsyOps, choosing a color that causes cerebral hemorrhage in un-inocuated humans... ugh.
Also, what a travesty, that the 9-4-1 team locks up its division before anyone else, even the high-flying Patriots or Cowboys... God, the NFC West is a trainwreck.
