<p>We've just announced the first three volumes of Pathfinder's fourth Adventure Path, Legacy of Fire.
In February, James Jacobs kicks it off with "Howl of the Carrion King" in Pathfinder #19.
In March, Tim Hitchcock presents "House of the Beast."
And in April, we've got "The Jackal's Price," which probably won't really be by James Jacobs, but we needed a name to put on the cover, and he was standing there.
All the covers are mockup images.
As usual, there are 6 parts to this Adventure Path—we'll be announcing the details of the final three chapters in a few months.

Fixed the last two links.
EDIT: and . . . you fixed it before I did.
AP4 looks good.

Damn it!!!... If only I was standing there at that time!!!

Set in and around Osirion, eh? I've never been a fan of Al Quadim or desert adventures in general, but I liked Entombed with the Pharoahs. So I'm willing to let you all impress me.
Oh, and can we please let James write both 19 and 21? Sanity is highly overrated!
Katapesh according to James on the chat.

While the first two adventures are indeed set on the border between Osirion and Katapesh... the adventure path itself is much more Katapesh than Osirion. On the other hand, Elaine's Pathfinder Journals go right up into Osirion, so there should be something for everyone! :)
Please tell me Eando goes through #18 though, right?

Does this AP have more of an Egyptian feel, or Arabian feel?
I'm seeing references to Osirion (which I assume is Egyptian-like), but then a later one is also talking about genies.
(Just planning where in FR I'm going to put this one! Sounds like the border between Mulhorand and Semphar, so far.)
This AP is more Arabian Nights feeling... but there will be Egyptian elements as well. Ancient Osirion did extend down into Katapesh, after all... there are Osirion ruins IN Katapesh, and some of those ruins will play a big role in "Legacy of Fire."
Calimshan would actually be the best place to set this one, though. Katapesh is the 2nd largest city in the Inner Sea region and Calimport would be a great stand in for it. Also... there's gonna be a lot of genie stuff in this Adventure Path...

I'm not so sure... ancient Mulhorand did extend over into Semphar, after all. ;) And Semphar is 'arabian' influenced (including genies) along with quite large cities (such as Dhantazar) - though I would use an unmapped/undetailed Semphari city, because I want to use Katapesh in all it's glory (especially if the city book is as cool as it sounds. While I care little for Golarion, the city books, OTOTH, are good stuff).
In any case, cool beans for this AP. The kind of feel hinted at so far is definitely the kind of stuff I particularly like. It's certainly added to my purchase list so far.

Alright. Would it also work outside of a "Fantasy" type setting? :)

As in, as a campaign for Mutants & Masterminds or d20 Modern or Traveler or Spycraft? As well as any Pathfinder Adventure Path, I suppose... which is to say... "Sure, but you'll be doing a LOT of modification." It's a more exotic location than Varisia... but it's still VERY firmly rooted in the D&D style world.

Well, the reason I ask, is that I was seeing that the RotRL AP* would have work quite well in some other genres. (*- link contains Spoilers!)
Of course Mr. Logues Cold Black will also be out soon. :)

HUZZAH! Thanks James, finally someone has taken up the Al-Qadim mantle!

I somehow missed this. I wanted to say, this statement and everything I heard on the recording of the seminar makes me very excited about this AP.

... but I am *such* a Gnoll fanboi...
Curse you, purveyors of high-quality irresistable goods!
That makes two of us.
Having come to the Pathfinder party a little late, its been an expensive month (what with buying of all the back-issues).Now I have the agony of deciding whether to fork out of the subscription or buying from my LFGS later when I've actually been paid again..
(I live in the UK, so with postage, the price works out exactly the same ,even with discount...).
Still, looking forward to it.
Orcs? Drow? Pah!
Gimme Gnolls.

James:
Will Legacy of Fire present multi-tiered genies, similar to Al-Qadim's handling of them? Having every genie be just one single level limits their possible involvement to higher levels within the Adventure Path. I'd much rather see a continuum of genie power, enabling them to be used in a variety of situations and CRs.

There'll absolutely be different levels of genie in the adventure, but we'll probably achieve that by simply giving genies class levels or advancing their hit dice.

Thanks, James! REALLY looking forward to this. Arabian Nights have been a woefully underserved genre in D&D since the demise of Al-Qadim. Appreciate Paizo undertaking this task!

I ran an all-gnoll campaign recently, so I don't think I can do that again so soon for LoF. Sadly, I don't think that my all-mercane party will fly with my players (much though it would fit with the setting), so maybe I need to go another route.
Fire is fun. I ran an all-azer campaign once, and people didn't advance very far. Maybe I could run another one of those, and let people import their old azer PCs. Roleplaying a person who never has to eat or sleep proved more challenging than I think people had expected.

Thats Gnolls for you - always breeding :-)
Listening to the audio preview wotsit, my only disappointment is that Gnolls are apparently only part of the arc. I'd have liked to have seen an entirely-beastmen-related adventure path.

The main villain theme in Legacy of Fire is "genies." Genies aren't really something you can throw at low level PCs, though, so for the earlier levels we needed something less cruel for them to fight; and the answer there is gnolls, because gnolls are pretty cool and they're already established as a "bad-guy" race in Katapesh.
That all said... you can expect gnolls and gnoll-related things to keep happening now and then throughout Legacy of Fire. I'm relatively sure we'll be seeing at least one or two high-level gnoll bad guys, in other words...

I had a feeling Hitch was working on something for you guys when he mentioned his latest wordcount. Can't wait to read whatever he comes up with. He's bent.

I like the lady on the mockup for Jackal's Price. Hope she's not just filler art. ^_^
Unfortunately, she is. :(
But you can find her in W3 Flight of the Red Raven. :)

Hey, is there any info on which authors will write LoF #3 - #6? Any chance to see something from Rich Pett again? That would be awesome!
We just came up with a bunch of new titles for mid-year 2009's solicitations, so you can expect to hear some news on that front soon, but not quite yet. Not to give anything away, but rest assured that we're keeping Rich busy.
