Westman moves to the stairs, shouting for Brianna to get up and though she's unconscious, his voice gets through to her. Then he swings his arm high in attempt to get K1 with his shield, to no avail.
Brianna uses a surge to heal 10 points.
From behind his mask, the kobold commands "Si tepoha wer little ir. Itrewic wer turalisj iri." Then, he shouts "Tiamat!" and the other two kobolds seem refreshed and they quickly shift. The masked kobold then stabs again at Brianna on the ground, sending up a small fountain of halfling blood.
Brianna is hit for 4 points.
Kava's turn, followed by Brianna. Don't worry too much about delaying the game at this point, Prankster. I think that after this encounter, I may pause the game at least until you get your internet up and running. And hopefully Amelia will turn up.
ghettowedge
I think Amelia is done with this game. I checked her post activity and she's still active in another pbp. So, until either she shows up or the end of the encounter we'll play it as if Brianna is asleep.
Kava's attack is deflected by the kobold's heavy armor. As she steps to the top of the ledge the kobold moves with her.
Now flanking Kava, K1 and K2 do not manage to strike her.
A rock strikes the wall by A'loran's feet.
Anmuspi is up, then A'loran and Westman.
Anmuspi
Anmuspi steps to get a better angle, looses a careful shot and then takes a few more measured steps toward the main combat.
Minor: Hunter's Quarry on K1.
Move: Shift to AU24.
Standard: Nimble Strike on K1 (+6 to hit, 1d10+5+1d8 damage), shift to AV24.
"Only a couple left standing...the battle is ours!"
ghettowedge
A'loran pleads for help and then sends forth another magical dart. For once it results in a squeal of pain.
A'loran hits S1 for 10 points of damage and S1 is dead.
As Block moves up the stairs he ducks low against the ledge, avoiding K1's sword thrust. Standing over Brianna's limp form, Westman shouts in defiance as he stabs the masked kobold.
Westman hit KP for 18 points and KP is bloodied. Kava, A'loran, and Brianna gain a +1 to all defenses and gain 7 temporary hit points.
The kobold, his mask split by Block's savage attack, stabs back in fear, but misses.
Kava's turn.

ahh poop! Sorry gang
"Nicly done Seargent!" Kava strikes out at the kobold before her. Off balancing him she spins backwards, draws in a big breath and engulfs the other 2 in flames
I take it K1 is still div challenged by me so
(standard) Holy Strike + an extra 1 (wis) damage on K1
(move) I'll shift to BB29
(minor) i'll breathe fire on Kp and k2 (encounter power dragon breath). If K1 is still around he'll have to bring it 'cause he is challenged - woot! ;^)
Hope I got all that right
ghettowedge
Kava's flail hits with enough force to crush K1's armor.
Kava hits for 10 points and K1 is dead.
She then steps closer to the other two kobolds and with a roar, exhales burning flames.
K2 and KP are both hit for 6 points of fire damage.
After the burninating, K2 opens his eyes.
K2 is awake, but still prone.
Anmupsi is next. Then A'loran and Block.

I guess with that ugly string of misses you deserve some self congratulations.
Anmuspi
Anmuspi darts to the corner and fires off two more shots, targeting KP with bad intent.
Move: Darts to AY26.
Minor: Hunter's Quarry on KP
Standard: Twin shot on KP (extra arrow on K2 if KP drops from the first). +6/+6 -- 1d10+1+1d8/1d10+1
A'loran, can you see any more enemies from your position?
ghettowedge
Anmuspi takes cover behind the north face of the building and fires an arrow into the masked kobold's ribs. The kobold gasps a couple times before falling off the ledge.
Anmuspi hit KP for 15 and KP is dead.
Anmuspi's second arrow archs over Kava and lands in K2's eye.
Anmuspi crit K2 for 11 points.
A'loran fires off another magic missile and almost loses his footing in the process, causing the missile to erringly strike the ledge.
Block slices at the prone kobold, positioning himself to protect Kava.
Block hits K2 for 11 points and K2 is bloodied. Kava gains a +3 power bonus to AC against K2
Kava's turn.
ghettowedge
The kobold tries to put up his hands to shield himself, but Kava's flail connects mercilessly. His hands still twitch.
Kava hit for 12 points and K2 is dead. We are are of combat. Among the kobolds' mostly worthless gear you can find small silver key in the chief ’s belt pouch, along with a piece of parchment that describes the location of a secret door in the alcove to the north. His staff is also of importance, as it is a +1 staff of the war mage.
+1 Staff of the War Mage: This staff provides its user with a +1 enhancement bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls. On a critical hit, it deals an extra 1d8 +1 damage. In addition, once per day as a free action, the user can increase the size of a blast or a burst by 1.
Take a short rest and use some surges, then decide how you'd like to proceed. Also head over to the discussion thread to voice your opinion on the Brianna situation.
ghettowedge
I've posted in Amelia's other game thread to see if she'll confirm one way or the other. I've also posted for a new player. Right now you guys should let me know how many surges you'll be using, and decide if you'll be continuing or taking an extended rest. I also need each of you to post another batch of 50 d20 rolls over in the discussion thread.

Catching her breath "The staff looks like something you might benifit from elf. Now you can thunder far and wide" Kava manages a smile that has been so rare of late. "But what of this secret door? I'm sure little Baker would be at it in a flash but with her injured form in our care I wonder if we can risk another ambush. Thoughts?" She looks around from the ranger to the town seargent to the eladrin mage.
Anmuspi
Anmuspi recovers arrows and heads where available and strides over to the rest of the group when done, confident in their ability to care for the downed baker.
"My suggestion would be to press on rather than giving them time to regroup. Their shaman is brought low, their drakes are slain, they cannot have much left. Even if there are a few more, best to move on cautiously rather than have them ambush us while we rest, or reset traps. I also suggest leaving the secret door until we've secured the other access points."
Anmuspi uses 1 surge.
A'loran Longstride
two surges for me I believe if more is needed I'll use three
"I think we've secured all the other known passages. Looks like the secret door would be the only choice."
A'loran picks up the staff "hhmmm this is nice cept it stinks of shaman pooh" prestidigitation on the staff to clean it
"aahhh much better. And Kava I'm Eladrin. Lets finish chopping the heads off these dragonborn eerrr kolbolds and get moving"

Brianna appears alive, but she won't wake up, despite your best efforts. The halfing has been struck mysteriously comatose by A'loran's spell.
Your attention is suddenly drawn to the sound of heavy boots on stone coming from the entrance. Around the corner appears a dwarf. Wild eyes and unkept black hair combined with a messy moustache and beard make him an almost comical sight. But there is also an underlying fury supressed and ready to explode bright and peircing grey eyes.
Rolf:
Behind her stands a grey-haired human wearing the uniform of a city guard. (W)
Barely visible in the corner stands a slender humanoid in blue and silver robes. (A'l)
And at the base of the stairs stands another human, younger and more rugged in appearance, his bow trained on your position. (An)

A'loran is kneeling next to Brianna "I don't know what went wrong... This is bad. Kava, can you carry her?"
A'loran stands and ready's his new staff as the dwarf approaches. "Hail friend dwarf, You should be carefull there are nasty kolbolds down here."

"Hail" Kava waves at the new addition to the room "I think that you've missed the excitement, the little bandits are no more. Well except for sleeping beauty here, but she is one of ours."
Kava turns to Sergeant West "I hope that secret door opens to an underground inn. Soon the Fallcrest will be deserted."
Kava turns back to Brianna helping West in his healing assessment.
Rolf Unterhen
Rolf scours the scene and looks guenuinly sad he missed out on the battle, he looks at the majestic Dragonborn, and then to the Bow trained at him, he instictively places a hand on a huge and wicked axe that hangs from his back, but eases his motion. Ha! Hail to you and I hope your strength is well. I see you have blessed my arrival with a scene of battle, Kord praise you all!" Rolf slowly pulls out a holy symbol dedicated to the God of strength. "Name's Rolf, some say I'm am not all there up in me head knocks on the top of his skull with his knuckles, I guess they are right, with me scouring this area alone." Rolf flashes a gapped tooth smile, "I have adventurer skills, I am blessed by the power of Kord himself, he has choosen me to work through". Rolf looks off to the side as if he is talking to someone who can not be seen, he mutters "Oh battle father you bless me so..., but to make me arrive late for a battle and with my axe so hungry, how so have I offended thee" With a guenuine sad expression, "I can make myself useful, if ye'll have me as a member of yer charter"

Atop the ledge lies a young female halfling. She has many wounds, though none of them are life threatening. She is also soundly asleep.
Rolf, you can find no physical source for her state. And despite all attempts to wake her, from shaking to splashes of water, she continues to sleep.
At this point it's ok to metagame. Brianna is asleep because Amelia dissappeared from game. I was and still am reluctant to have her die, and I also didn't want her to just get up and leave. If you decide to hide her here, she'll be ok. Or you can trek the 15 miles back to town.

Are you guys trying to make me look bad in front of the new guy?
que? It's all I can do to stop myself looking bad in front of anyone :) No need to Meta too much for me... I'll bump it along post haste (and I'm guessing that we are pretty keen to press on)
"You are right of course o' great mage. She will be safer in the fort. Especially if Anmuspi camoflages her. There is nothing dangerous behind us and only one way forward." Kava carrys the tiny form of Briana down to the central compound and blahblahblahhiding, safety etc edges down the tiny corridor after Seargent Block.AZ21/22
"I am guessing Rolf blessed of Kord, that your preference is in the front of the line of skirmish" Kava smiles genuinely "As you can guess, I'm sworn to Bahamut which would make us together the axe and shield."
"Appologies for the lax introductions. I am Kava Argentine, before us is Sergeant Westman Block hero of Fallcrest's garrison, the archer is Anmuspi - a ranger so deadly a shot that he could knock an apple off the head of a baby kobold at 100 paces - and the Eladrin arcanist is A'loran Longstride - who has more magic tricks than a pocket full of brownies. The sleeping infant is Brianna; usually our chef - and fine butcher too - but she has developed a mighty allergy to A'loran's sleeping spell. Perhaps she but needs a kiss from a hansome dwarf to wake her up." Kava grins wildly obviously finding her dragonborn humour ludicrously funny

A'loran rolls his eyes at Kava. Nods at the dwarf and silently follows along too distracted by brianna's condition to offer much conversation. But as he passes by Anmuspi he enchancts one of his arrows with light
Rolf Unterhen
Rolf provides a mighty belly laugh at Kava's joke "Aye a kiss from me and my stinky breath would wake the dead from its deepest slumber, but this poor lass has suffered enough without an assault from my tonsils, plus once ya went stout, well...I aint be finishing that phrase with ladies about. Aye, I can stand next to ye and take the brunt of an attack, wont wreak my pretty face. So I assume I am hired?"

With a bit of feeling around you find the secret door in the alcove. The small silver key fits in the lock on it. Beyond, stairs lead deeper into the earth...
You follow a long, winding passage from the kobold chieftain’s throne room down and down into the earth. Eventually, the finely worked stone tunnels give way to natural passages. Finally, you come upon a large cavern. The air is unnaturally cold in here. In the center of the room is a large pool of frozen dark water. The cavern is quiet.
Choose squares to be in, no further into the room than AR12.

Uh Oh! Call me paranoid but ...
I'd love Kava to have a go a knowledge skill.
The bad feeling ACTUALLY involves a religeon check (but whatev's GM :)
a)Shrine to Tiamat
b)Kobold shaman with cold breath
c)Map to Secret passageway into the depths on shaman
d)Unaturally freezing cold tunnel
e)Kava says ...
"I have a bad feeling about this" Whispers Kava. "This is a bad time to have lost our sneaky little baker."
Turning her head to Anmuspi (trying not to move any part of her noisy scaled armour) she breathes "Any signs of what might exist here. It seems too cold to be natural. I fear the vishe svitran veditoa frahraek - Shaman's freezing breath is no coincidence."
Images of Remorhaz, white dragons and other nasty fridgid wyrms of Tiamat dance through Kava's imagination.

Kava, you recall that Tiamat has servants that take advantage of each energy type, but nothing specific.
Once Anmuspi posts there will be more.

Anmuspi finally comes to his senses (after a terrible week) and decides AS15 is a good square.
"I could do with a pocketful of brownies right now!. Thanks for the intro Kava -- hail Rolf"
Knowledge check to see what likely could be rooming in this chamber, especially since we've come across guardian drakes and a small dragon already?

Anmuspi -
The first creature that comes to mind is a white dragon. They are highly adaptable, but prefer to dwell in cold places. A white dragon's breath weapon is a bone-numbing blast of elemental frost.
Kava, Anmuspi, Westman, Rolf:
There is a surprise round now. The four of you and the creature each get a single action (minor, move, or standard). Here's the order:
- Anmuspi - 20
- Kava - 16
- Dragon - 13
- Block - 10
- Rolf - 9
So Anmuspi and Kava are up.
