I'm fairly certain that Beldan is now the highest level character I have played in 3rd edition. Exciting!
Same here. I hardly ever play. And I like the idea of converting when the books get to me from Amazon. Rather have the books than the constant ads every three days for 4E stuff.
I'm glad that the Pathfinder DMG doesn't come out until Feb otherwise I would be getting a fair amount of aggro from the Missus. She is good but not that good.
Cheers

Rags there is one item I found in the Complete Champion book, (page 141).
Ring of the Beast allows a druid (even in wildshape) to cast Summon Natures Ally as if it was the next spell level up. So SNA I is cast as SNA II, and so on. The druid cannot cast a spell above his maximum so a 7th druid cannot upgrade beyond SNA IV.
Whaddaya think?
Unfortunately it costs 8K.
That's the one. I think Heathy OKed it for wizards as well, which would make my summonings even better. Don't worry about the money - I've got plenty.

Me too, now I think on it. I've DM'ed higher level characters but not as a player.

Hey, I'm back!
(Well,... mostly!) ;P
SOrry I haven't updated yet, I'll do it as soon as I can, next day or so. Meanwhile I'll just try to keep up as best I can.
I THINK I MAY have played a higher level character ONCE.But he was sort of a cross between 1E and 2E with a LOT of stuff we made up ourselves, and I'm not actually sure he counts for anything except fun!
9th lvl is definitely the highest I have ever played LEGALLY/Officially.
See yaz soon!

Hey all, I started the leveling process, most of the numbers are done (HP, skills, etc,) But I need to choose a feat, and a couple of new spells. (I get 5th lvl, woohoo!)
ANy recommendations on a feat for a 9th lvl druid?!? I've never played a Druid before, much less a character this high, trying to get a feel for what might be useful. MAybe one of those feats that augment summoning? I do seem to do an awful lot of that!

Somewhere I saw a Paizo monster with the feat Master Summoner. I cannot remember where but it effectively quickened the casting time to a standard action.
Elgan doesn't have Augment Summoning nd that is always good for druids, but you will need Spell Focus Conjuration first.
Other than that maybe Empower? since it increases the variables by 1.5 that could increase the number that you summon.
Cheers

Damn. I need that Master Summoner Feat. Next level, I guess.
Doesn't Empower Spell just add damage? It's still a nice feat, though, with all those lightning storms and whatnot Elgan likes to use.

From D20srd
Empower Spell [Metamagic]
Benefit
All variable, numeric effects of an empowered spell are increased by one-half.
Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables. An empowered spell uses up a spell slot two levels higher than the spell’s actual level.
I'd say it works although a two level hike is fairly severe.
As for the Master Summoner feat, I have no idea where it was. If I get a bolt from the blue I'll let you know. Too much stuff around these days, grumble grumble. Back in the day.....
Cheers

Ogay.....
just to get me straight...
Altai, Riese, Gittik, Oso and Beldan leveled.
Stiggy is ?
Pip and Elgan need to level;
does anybody still need to buy stuff, and
Altai; do you know offhand what Stiggy's cut is? I'll track it for whenever.
Alzo...
Riese is gone a week
Gittik's gone a week starting tomorrow
Stiggy is ?

Elgan is (mostly) lvl'd.
Still need a feat, and the newest spells.
Altai, just a note. For 500gp (I think) you can get a Charmof the chronomancer, usable 1/day, quickens ANY full round casting time to a standard action.
ONly usuable 1/day, but at 500GP, you can afford to buy more than one!
And so can Elgan come to think of it,...

As much as I like to think my own wedding was nicer, I'd be hard pressed to think of anything to improve on hers. They live in an old historic town, so they got married in the old 17th century church at the local fort, complete with 12-gun salute afterwards (her hubby is active in the local reenactment society, so they had cannons and uniformed guards and all sorts of fun extras). In short, it was great.

But then wouldn't you always be getting pummeled by big sweaty guys dressed in sport gear? :P

Is that a problem, ducky?
Actually, the game is named after the place, rather than the other way round.
I know, just being a little snarky :P
(I actually had an old copy of Tom Brown's Schooldays when I was a young lad, and I can remember thinking Rugby School would be real fun to go to, kind of the ur-Hogwarts without the magic.)
EDIT: It also in later years lead me to read the screamingly funny adventures of Flashman the bully of Rugby, who goes on to become drenched in glory despite being one of the worst cads ever portrayed in a novel. Highly recommended for a satirical sendup of Imperial British society.

Hello all, I don't know if anyone still remembers, but I was playing as Becton awhile ago here in Heathy's game.
This is really my first chance to get on the boards, and I'm not sure what the status of the game is right now. I cannot apologize enough for falling off the face of the Earth to everyone, especially to Heathy who gave me chance to play in this game.
I don't know if particulars are essential to know, but for those who might have wondered, my sudden departure was health-related mostly. I was in an automobile accident, which did some serious damage to my right hand. It took some months of healing and rehab (plus frustration), but it looks like I'm OK. I made for a lousy lefty, by the way.
There were other issues, related to family and work in the current economy that didn't help. All of this has pretty much kept me away from these boards for most of the past year. Things are finally starting to get back to relatively normal for me, maybe getting back into a game or chatting at least. I'm still catching up on all that's been going on.
In any case, I just wanted to say hello again more than anything right now. I have missed the wacky and sometimes overly chaotic adventures of the Saltmarsh gang, but also I wanted to thank Heathy for running a great, fun game. I'm sorry for any kind of mess I might have left in your plans. Thanks for your attention.

Hey dude!
I'm glad you're still okay! Good to hear from you!
You wanna pop back in some time? It's up to you.
Oh, and the game's a whole lot slower than it used to be. Tween the new PF coming out, Kruely's been real busy for a month, fakey's been busy for a few weeks; it's nowhere near the frenetic pace it used to be.

Yeah, Alex, sorry to hear about your problems and glad you re coming through them. I'm sure we could use another cleric - the one we got was rubbish.
By the way, Heathy - are we converting to PFRPG in your game?
I'm waiting on two things....
make sure everybody has the book or whatever, pdf, whatnot, and
make sure I know what I'm doing; which isn't too important cos I halfass know what I'm doing in 3.5 anyhows.

I don't have the book; didn't order it, and my LGS sold out in one day. But I've got the PDF.
