I'm Here! I'm here!
Just busy as all !@#$,
Worked 30 hours this weekend, and I do NOT get paid hourly anymore! :P plus my kids were sick all weekend, and they shared with me. :P
BUT, I'm here! I'll play a caster of some sort, (Naturally) Let me get caught up on work and other PbP games, and I'll start generating asap. (Hopefully tonight)
Never played Saltmarsh or related modules, and never been to greyhawk. No no worries here!
Thanks HEathy!

Happy B-day Wolf-boy!
So let's get a list together of who is playing who and what.
Fake Healer is playing- Riese Townser, Human Paragon/Evoker-to-be.
Kruelaid is playing- Stigwold Mech'Hammer, Dwarven Fighter(with his dog Tenser).
Mothman is playing- Beldan Vale, Human Rogue who despises combat.
Vattnisse is playing- Altai Iscarni, Human Wizard (generalist).
Aubrey the Malformed is playing- Gittik, Halfling Barbarian raised by goblins.
Alex Martin is probably playing- A cleric of Pelor.
Daigle is probably playing- A fighter/rogue.
Ragadolf is probably playing- A caster.
So we have a Fighter, Barbarian, and a Fighter/rogue for melee.
The Fighter/Rogue and the straight rogue give us the skills that rogues are needed for.
We have a general wizard and a Soon-to-be Evoker for Arcane.
We have a cleric of pelor* for healing and spiritual guidance.
And we have an undecided caster that will either add to the Arcane or Divine aspect of the party.
Good group! The roles are distributed well with some good overlap in critical areas.
I deem this party- Good.

Ummm I can't even get invisible castle stats to link here it keeps going to paizo page, I'm very baffled having done it 10 times...
If Heathy has too many characters that's cool, I'm open...

Aaah, f#!& it. I'm a pushover. Tobus is in, Alex is in. Ragadolf is in; I couldn't hose a guy that worked 30 hours over the weekend. Daigle's in. We're closed at nine characters. (let me count that again).
I have the alternates down on my "dm heathy" roster.
Let me divvy out exp's for the minibattle and make a post; I'll be in and out tonight; birthday stuff. Again, I can't post much at work nowadays; I have a new work project I have to get cracking on or some such frivolity. I'll try to keep the action rolling though, best I can.
Again, when you get your character rolling, feel free to just show up on the scene.

Ragadolf |

Wow. I'm out for a weekend and you guys write 5 pages!!!
I'm gonna have to catch up later tonight or tomorrow, but will start working on character tonite. (I hope.)
WIll definitely play an arcane caster. Since we already have a 'generalist' and a soon-to-be evoker for firepower, I'll probably try a specialist. I've never gotten to play one before and I'd like to try out the possibilities/limitations involved with that.
Hm,... maybe a conjurer who thinks all others exist to serve him, (Supreme ego) or maybe a non-evil but creepy Necromancer. Hm,...
I shall contemplate. Any thoughts on the matter?
Just looking for opinions this time, not build advice.
(Tho if you have any cool race/specialist/feat combos that you are aware of that are interesting, please let me know! I'm not a powergamer so I don't have all the options memorized!)
:D

Kruelaid |

This isn't a suggestion Rags. Just an "if it were me": I'd do up a really spaced out diviner - who totally can't get a grasp on reality.
I love playing spellcasters but actually I play them all the time in my real life campaign because they tend to be too complex for the people I play with, who are all operating in their second language.

...Daigle's in....
Umm...I hate to do this on your Birthday, but I emailed you yesterday. I'll post it here since it involves these fine fellows as well.
Hey man. I'm afraid I will be unable to commit to your game. I greatly appreciate the invite and seriously some of my favorite folks on the boards are involved, but I'm already behind and the amount of food on my plate doesn't look as if it will diminish anytime soon. I thank you again for the slot, but I think another eager player will fit your game better than I will. Again, sorry to disappoint y'all.

I suck. Sorry.

Sorry to hear that man, would have been cool to jam with you. But you have to do what you have to do, I respect that.

8 players, 1 healer......I wonder what spells the Healbot is gonna be able to use.....
I guess I could switch to a cleric or druid since Alex deserves to be more than just a healing wand to the party...

Nah man, Riese is well established now, he should stay a wizard - he works as a wizard.
We'll roll with it. The ranger can use CLW wands if needs be, and Beldan is taking ranks in UMD.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I just feel bad for a guy tryin' to play the lone cleric in a party of eight because they never get to do any really cool cleric spells for fear of needing healing. I been there and it can suck. I really thought we would have a bard, druid, or another cleric in a party this size.
Oh well.

How was your birthday Heath?
It was allright; the first few hours of work were the type of day wherupon you say to yourself, "I can't believe I came to work on my birthday for this b!@%!%!~." Then the dreary portents cleared up, and I got pizza....and cake at home. I even took a little nap, which is a rare enough delicacy with three goblins about in my house.

Maybe Ragadolf wants to step up to the bardic plate. No pressure, but I was kind of looking forward to having a bard.

Yeah I agree. I think option b, c, or d would be better than another wizard.

Kruelaid |

I saw a biography of Franz Kafka last weekend and tried to put together a Kafkaesque situation on the edge of the Hool Marshes.
Then along comes Kruelaid with his drunken absurd existentialist hero,...you got Camus in my Kafka!
Tasty!!!
Tryin' to railroad us, eh?
Serves ya right!

Ragadolf |

Hey guys, I made it! (It's 12:30 AM here, but I made it!)
And NOW I find that the party is already started! :P
OK, I see we can still use some healing, and I AM playing a couple of crazy (or at least off-center) casters in other PbP's,..... (Though the space-case Diviner sounds RIGHT up my alley!)
So,... Used to think that Bards were cool, but I have never gotten into the hang of playing one, at least not and having as much fun with them as I do casters.
HOWever, I am open to the Druid schtick.
Let's see, decent spells, healing spells, trade mem'd spells for summon critters, Animal companion to cover my low HP @$$, AND Shapeshifting, one of my favorite Wiz spells anyhoo,... wilderness survivability,...
OK, I'll try it! (What the h@#$, I'll try anything once, THAT'S what gets me in trouble!)
I'll start the character in the morning, and catch up in the IC thread, and jump in ASAP.
Thanks for letting me stay in, my job gets like this. (Stoopid overbooked college auditorium,... nickle-frickle,...)
Any off-center ideas for druids, let me have 'em! With this group I do NOT want to play the generic tree-hugger druid. (I will miss proving Reise how wrong he is about his mental superiority, but this will be fun too!)
Hm,... Now where did I put that info on the SHifter prestige class?
;D
Oh, and WHERE is everybody getting this 'Paragon' info? what is the sourcebook? I don't see it on the SRD.

Kruelaid |

Paragons:
Unearthed Arcana I do believe. It's like taking a level in personal development from Timothy Robbins.
Any off-center ideas for druids, let me have 'em!

Druid is good - maybe base your character around the animal companion, at least it terms of flavour. I always thought a dire rat aminal companion would be good, especially in a dungeon environment - and kinda funny at higher levels when it would have 15HD or something. Then go for something a bit feral and nasty to go with the rat - maybe brought up on a dunghill or something. A dunghill hugger.
Maybe try a gnome, before they go extinct in 4e. Also good is an elven druid - a bit tree-huggy, sure, but you get proficiency with bows which really rocks as a drood.

Ragadolf |

OK, (It's after 1am here, I REALLY should go to bed soon!)
Searching HERE I see there is a shapeshifter Druid variant from the PH2.
If you are not big on familiars/animal companions, (Some players/DM's aren't, I think of a familiar as an opportunity to play TWO characters!) THEN I would like to play the shapeshifter variant.
Hm, now for an off-beat personality,.... a druid with alergies?, Naw, I'd just be miserable ALL the time,...
OK,... I go bed now,...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,...
EDIT- Hm, good ideas too, Thanks Aub!

![]() |

Yeah, I hadn't really put the two together, but it is kind of twisted - an elf brought up in a human slum, answering the inherent call of the wild by nuggling up to a dire rat. Though with the freaks currently on show in this party that should be fairly low key by comparison.

If the druid is a local, he might be a swamp druid ... complete with hillbilly (swamp-billy?) accent and viper animal companion, or even better maybe crocodile.
Or he could be a sea druid, play him like a crusty old sea captain. His animal companion could be a parrot, or a turtle (named Shelly).

There is a good variant for druids in the PHB2, Shapeshift. There is also some other cool variants in the SRD. I am playing a Shapeshift/Spontaneous Rejuvenating Druid in a PBP set in the Savage Tide on the boards and he is pretty fun.
EDIT___Although Spontaneous Rejuvenation is turning out to be semi-useless.
