It had some potential - the religion thread has (with a few exceptions) remained both civil and interesting. And the political thread hasn't gotten as rude as some of the previous political outings or a couple of the 4ed threads. It could have worked.

Wow, man, I didn't realize he was that much of an unbearable jackass.

The funniest part is I've got him hurling nasty personal remarks at me without making any such remarks about him, although I did gross everyone out at his expense, which is not to admit that I was trolling, but it was a nice side benefit of what I was doing there (I was just defending a reasonable view posted by Kirth and I).

I've had a run-in or two with him also, and I gotta agree with your opinion of Mr. Weiss. I never even insulted him, just disagreed with a bit of snark and he was ranting about my low parentage, class, intellect, etc.

The shame of it is that the internet makes people feel like they can say anything they want to anyone without any issues. In real life if he had stood in front of me, I really doubt he would say stuff like that, just because face-to-face people usually show more respect to people and also because if he said those things to my face.........
Well let's just say I'd probably get locked up.
The whole 'edition war' crap has brought a lot of posters to Paizo and I am glad for that but unfortunately there seems to be a lot of WOTC cast-offs mixed in. Sebastian looks like a kitten compared to some of the newbs around here.
Oh well.

I get along with most folks, but yeah, I saw it all.

And what is up with that 'growing hostility towards Paizo' thread? Good comment, BTW, Heathy.

Liberty's Edge

Manwolf Werewoof testing upper middle class twit 5

Which one?

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

The relatively early one about the amazing lack of widespread anti-Paizo sentiments. One would have thought that it would have punctured the OP's argument, but noooooo...

Liberty's Edge

He kinda just stirs it up now and again. It's pointless to argue with him, I think.

I think it's funny that it HAS to BE OUTSIDE THE 4E FORUM.

I don’t think anyone wins those threads.

I haven’t looked at it in a day or two (since the Kruel, Sebastian, Sam, and Dingo four way action) but it looked like it was degenerating nicely.

Yeah … I enjoy Sam’s opinion and point of views on some topics, but sometime he can be a real … well, I won’t say anything I might regret. Ok, to be fair Kruel, you were very much baiting him at one point, but he’d already steered the discussion waaay into the irrational argument avenue … and if you’re going to take such obvious bait …

That reminds my of something; someone did win that thread, it was Shiny with “here fishy, fishy, fishy” and “but I can’t come to bed yet honey. Something is wrong on the internet!”

Love it.

I really don’t understand the OP of that thread. He starts numerous threads with inflammatory titles or subjects (most of them variations on the same theme), then gets very (seemingly genuinely) upset when people question his motives or accuse him of trolling. Thing is, I kinda don’t think he is (trolling) but if not I really don’t understand his motive.

Anyway, that thread hasn’t gotten as bad (so far) as it could have, and one genuinely amazing thing has come out of it; someone was accused (probably unfairly) of being a jerk (normal so far) … they responded by being a jerk (still on track) … then actually genuinely and unreservedly apologised without any hint of sarcasm or contrariness that I could detect. That’s got to be pretty much an internet first.

Oh, and I couldn't tell if he was joking or not - does he really not know you? ;-)

Some guy came within a hair’s width of calling me racist in a thread the other day … I had to walk away. Even cancelled my “I’m walking away” post, it wasn’t worth it. I think that’s how you have to think in these threads sometimes (no matter how f%+*ing mad the ignorant a%!$%!% bastard d%@!~ead m~**~@%*+#%$ makes you).

Liberty's Edge

Manwolf Werewoof testing upper middle class twit 5

Yeh; I think I know the thread and I don't post on it, or read much of it for that matter...
My only response was I was going to put you all up against a bald black dude with an iron golem arm. And he's GAY!!!

He has a lot of really insightful posts under his belt and I respect him for that, especially his rules lawyering. I just don't understand why he gets so insulting.

That gay thing with dingo really broke it. I swear to God when I posted that I was grinning like the Cheshire cat and I wanted to scratch a notch in my monitor.

I love this game.
Like, let's hire a lawyer, and get this house deeded to us or something.
Feckin brilliant!

Heh, I wish buying a house in RL was this easy! The $#!^ I'm going through right now,... sheesh!

:)

Liberty's Edge

Don't know if anyone has mentioned the lawyering thing to Beldan (he hates lawyers) but he found a copy of the deed in the house too if that helps.

So, before I waste gobs of time fleshing out,

I ask you, my gentle players:

gnome tinkerers: deal breaker or okay 'trope?

They are a staple of sorts, so I say go with it. Just don't give them ridiculous five-page long Dragonlance-style names.

Liberty's Edge

Male Mothman Expert 5

I'm all for them.

I'm cool with it. Sounds like something I might like to play if I wasn't such a caster/magic lover!

Man, I probably shouldn't bring this up at a time like this ... but

Spoiler:
You need to be making spellcraft checks to cast those fire spells underwater!

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Yoips!

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

My spellcraft check is +13, so it should be a piece of cake to cast low-level spells. I'll keep that in mind from the next turn onwards, though.

Man I just dropped an anvil on my one of my player's PC's head. I love D&D! The funniest part is that they are terrified of cookware, they were frightened of a giant anvil/altar and now I got to drop an anvil on his head.
Priceless!
And I can claim totally sanity because the module writer included this stuff! I love it!

Liberty's Edge

How'd the anvil trap (I assume trap) work? what's th' damage?

They just did this:

Effect-Attack +5 melee(1d6, debris;multiple targets (drops 1d4 pieces of debris on each target in the room)
It describes the trap as a 'net strung up by the ceiling with a number of stones and a small metal anvil, rigged to fall' when the tripwire is tripped. Dude got hit with 2 stones and an anvil for 3d6 damage total.

lol! I had to go get my car inspected;
there was a Reader's Digest magazine; 16 foot great white attacked a surfer; 5 dolphins came to his rescue; beat the great white away with their noses.

Heh. Art imitates life? Or is it vice-versa? ;P
