With all this 4E nonsense it's pretty easy to get agitated these days.
So, for the sake of all our nerves I have created this thread for you to come and relax quietly. Feel free to just sit and bask in the simple glory of emptiness, or to visualize bunnies hugging and butterflies... ummm... butterflying. Post nothing, take a bong hit, sip a beer, write a haiku, or do none or all of these.
Above all. Be mellow.

We've been to the top, we've been to the bottom
We've known everything and forgotten, yeah
You've kicked me around, you've wrapped me in cotton
You've carried our load, and you've shot 'em
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
We've argued on the messageboards
We've accepted and we've laid blame
We've drank Sangthip in monsoonal rain
We've felt separate and felt the same
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
We've shared joy and we've shared pain
We've shared guilt and we've shared shame
We've bought into the stupid games
We've freed each other and we laid claim
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Because we came from the same cocoon

The Jade's primer on concepts that might assist one in finding inner peace; trapping and then killing it.
OM - the sound of the Universe (vibration of all living things)
Close your eyes and repeat, "That vibration is sounding from her sock drawer... this isn't living..."
Sat Nam - Truth
Close your eyes and repeat, "Truthfully I've never sat in Nam, but I've sat through 60 films that took place there and 5 of them starred Michael Dudikoff..."
So Ham - Life/Death, light/shadow, inhalation/exhalation - the yin and yang - the integration of opposites (this is a beautiful and powerful mantra, honoring both the light and the shadow)
Close your eyes and repeat, "Cream in my coffee... lightswitch left in the halfway position... Vanilla Ice..."
Om Namah Shivaya - the phoenix rising, creation born of change, TRANSFORMATION
Close your eyes and repeat, "If only the already shelf-cracking The Howling werewolf film franchise had more lousy sequels..."
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya - I surrender to/join with the divine will
Close your eyes and repeat, "Because I'm too much of a pussy to stand up and defend myself against the divine will..."
Aham Brahmasmi - I am the creative force
Close your eyes and repeat, "And that is why I wear this full body condom, so as to not let my provocative thoughts seed in your brain and birth messily from your gaping and tortured earholes..."
Tat Tuan Asmi - I am that I am
Close your eyes and repeat, "I'm Popeye the sailor man... toot toot..."
And the one that will surely calm even the most restless spirit:
Shanti, Shanti, Shanti - Peace, peace, peace
Close your eyes and repeat, "Of ass... of ass... of ass..."
May your 4th edition confusion
Give way to LovingKindness

::mimes an invisible tree falling upon him.::
I'm likely the only ex-mime here and I'm not the least bit offended by traditional mime hate in comedy, but I do wonder on its origins.
I was a actually a working mime between the ages of 8-9. Never quite understood the stigma... except for the fact that mimes often mimick passersby, and some people can't handle mimickry. I'd suspect anyone who wished pain upon Robert Shields or Marcel Marceau bears equal intolerance for mynah birds.

Tao; something to contemplate; verse one
The Tao that can be told
is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named
is not the eternal name.
Tao is both named and nameless
As nameless it is the origin of all things
as named it is the Mother of 10000 things
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery;
ever desiring, one sees on the manifestations.
and the mystery itself is the doorway
to all understanding.
so...consider how as you name and label things in your life; how your persective of such things changes, can you still see a thing for the mystery of what it is or does the label corrupt your sight. Well, this is something I sometimes meditate on.

The little river twittering in the twilight,
The wan, wondering look of the pale sky,
This is almost bliss.
And everything shut up and gone to sleep,
All the troubles and anxieties and pain
Gone under the twilight.
Only the twilight now, and the soft "Sh!" of the river
That will last for ever.
And at last I know my love for you is here;
I can see it all, it is whole like the twilight,
It is large, so large, I could not see it before,
Because of the little lights and flickers and interruptions,
Troubles, anxieties and pains.
You are the call and I am the answer,
You are the wish, and I the fulfilment,
You are the night, and I the day.
What else - it is perfect enough.
It is perfectly complete,
You and I,
What more--?
Strange, how we suffer in spite of this.

Anger will lead you to the dark side, Darth Canis.

My least favorite thing about meditating:
Hitting my head on the ceiling.
Sure... my Third Eye can gaze upon its Oneness with Everything, but can it look up when bringing a sublime lightness upon my being?!? NO.
Annoying.
Astral projection is a b!tch. I got my ankle tied in my silver cord once and my toes went blue before I could unknot myself.
My favorite part when legs going numb after about 10 minutes of sitting cross-legged. Then when I get up I have to dance around in agony for a little bit.
Lotus translates to "lower extremity neuralgia" in Hindi. Weird name for a flower.

well, my legs dont go numb; try to meditate in a position of say the horse stance where you get very tired and it hurts; use meditation tecniques to block the sensation; try to be in a good horse stance for 3 minutes; 5 if you can.
typically, when I meditate say in lotus; it is simple focus excersize; just concentrate on one thing in your inner mind and block out all other thought or input; pure concentration and breathing.
i also like to meditate going through Tai Chi; the slow repetatie motions with my eyes closed as if moving in water; very relaxing and refreshing.
