Sebastion's Thread in the Website Feedback arena makes me wonder how many new folks we have lurking on the Paizo boards. I would guess there are quite a few considering the number of disgruntled gamers there are with WotC's recent decisions but I really don't know.
I wouldn't mind seeing how many folks are out there that have only started visiting Paizo.com, say, within the last couple of months -- and what you think about the Messageboard atmosphere and value.
Well consider it an invitation; if you want, just add a post saying you're new. And, if you'd like to rant, feel free.

PS. No need to opine on the Werecabbage.

I've only been reading these boards since the Pathfinder announcement, and have only posted a couple times, so I guess I count as new! I played in one of the arena battles over the summer, and joined a PbP but that ended up not working out once school got into full swing.
It's a good community here with a bunch of interesting posters, plus some actual feedbacks from the designers of the products that I buy, which is certainly a plus.
Also, this is a great place to get all sorts of ideas for the campaign that I'm currently running (Shackled City) and ideas for campaigns that I WILL run in the future (Savage Tide, Pathfinder).
This has become one of my most frequently checked sites, as well.

No need to opine on the Werecabbage.
Come on guys, bringing up werecabbagery on a "new to" thread is just so alienating. I came out of lurk in March (I think), lurked months before, and you guys were tossing that joke around when I first browsed the forums--AND I STILL DON'T GET IT!
Probably because it's not really funny.... Besides, it's all about pirates and ninjas these days, and take notice that I mentioned pirates first, Mike, and lets not have and pirate-cabbagery or ninja-cabbagery... NO! NO! NO!
Anyway... hi Nameless, hi other Noobs! Greetings and salutations. It's time to stand up and be counted.

I've been browsing for the last couple months.
I'm a regular on a couple other boards, but haven't posted on WotC's board in some time.
The atmosphere here seems decent enough (for the most part), but I'm not with a (RPG) game at the moment so RPG discussion aren't generally very interesting. And while I love the idea of Pathfinder it's a bit rich for my blood (and, like I said, I'm between games).
I doubt that I'll post much until Paizo launches its own line of prepainted plastic minis. Then you won't be able to shut me up.

I can't help but read your post as if you were yelling every word. Love the avatar.

I have been reading the boards occasionally since the Pathfinder announcement, but I started reading more regularly when I actually began running the RotRL AP. I have posted a couple times, in places where I thought I could contribute something.
The number of polite and articulate posters here seems greater than in most places, especially gaming forums. The thing that most surprises me is the age and maturity of many of the posters - I have had numerous nostalgic trips thanks to some of the comments I have seen here. I honestly was not aware that so many OD&D and 1E'ers still played.

I've only been posting for a couple of months, but been lurking for about 2 years. Been a subscriber for, like, ever. :)
Started posting basically as one way of showing my support for Paizo - the other of course being to buy some stuff from them that I would usually get through my FLGS. Paizo is special. They generate top notch product while seeming to be plain old good people.
I like the boards here. They feel welcoming, and while I'll never be a chatterbox, I'll throw in my opinion from lurkers corner periodically.

I used to check the site out every couple of weeks ..... but now, in the wake of the loss of Dungeon and Dragon magazines, the wonderfulness that is Pathfinder and the Gamemastery Modules, and WOTC's switch tob4th Ed., I come to the Paizo site almost ever single day.
And I love it.

Greetings!
Yeah, I'm fairly new myself. I first started coming here a few months ago (early summer I believe) while I was checking out 3rd party OGL publishers and looking for back issues of Dungeon and Dragon. I started lurking because the thread topics seemed pretty interesting and now I have become a little addicted to reading the boards.
I have found these boards to be not only one of most intelligent, polite, and welcoming boards but also hilarious as well. This is due not only to the people who post here but also to the wonderful staff here at Paizo who do such a fantastic job creating a civil and honest environment. You guys and gals are doing a great job and as soon as I can squeeze some extra money out of my budget you'll have another subscription coming your way.
I don't want to play favorites but there are a few people I want to give a shout-out to:
Sebastian, you are a hilarious snarky bastard, keep it coming
Lilith, my wife loves the all of the baking and cookie references
Aubrey, thanks for running an immensely entertaining and intriguing Eberron PBP.
The Great Eye of Gary, your god-like powers are a little spooky sometimes but you run a tight ship and paizo.com is easily one of the best looking and easy to navigate sites I have come across. Good job!
To the rest of the staff, contributors, and fellow board members: you guys and gals are excellent and thanks for having me.
Aaron

Up until a couple of months ago, I pretty much only came to Paizo to get my hands on scans of classic modules from yesteryear. I didn't really think about the Dragon and Dungeon magazine stuff because, well, I guess I figured they would force too much of a niche gaming experience, overloaded with easter eggs from past issues and such. I was looking for material that in my mind would appeal to the general gamer.
I should have come here sooner.
When I saw Demogorgon on the cover of Dungeon 150, it really piqued my interest. Other depictions were too abstract for my tastes. That cover shows him the way I think he should actually appear. Plus the idea of an adventure path that culminated with fighting him really interested me. I wanted to see what kind of material leads up to it. So, I ordered the 6 latest issues, and while they were on their way, I purchased the first PDF for the series. I was surprised how well it seemed the material would appeal to just about anyone, not just people who have been following Dungeon for years.
It was after that that I realized James Jacobs was involved with Red Hand of Doom, and Erik Mona was involved with Ruins of Castle Greyhawk, both campaigns that I really liked reading as a DM. Glancing at other Paizo products, I wished I had taken a more serious look before now!
Lately I spend most of my time in the Savage Tide message board, just to see what people are saying about it, plus contributing a few things of my own. I'm sure the GameMastery modules and Pathfinder adventures are just as good, given how involved the people at Paizo are in providing quality material.
It's certainly an active, friendly and passionate community here! Many times, when you ask a question about the material, someone on the Paizo staff or a contributing author answers you directly! I haven't experienced that elsewhere (I haven't visited any other OGL publishers, but still, it's something). It makes the company and products all the more accessible.

I've been lurking since the emergence of Pathfinder (awesome stuff!) and occasionally posting. Being an old schooler myself, I enjoy the mentality on the boards (even though I don't seem to be as hyped up or down about 4e as some). In addition to the quality of posters, the talent and involvement of the staff is quite amazing.

...lurking on the Paizo boards..
Not necessarily new, been around these boards for over a year or more but I don't tend to post much.
Of all my experience in dealing with various companies Paizo has been by far the best.
Heck, even at Gen Con they were great I must of visited their booth several times each day and usually left with something new each time.

Salutations. I am new to Paizo, and relatively new to D & D compared to many of you. I have been roleplaying for almost two decades now, but I never played D & D before 3.0. Needless to say, most other roleplaying games have fallen by the wayside. I first discovered Paizo when I googled "list of character classes" for D & D, and was wondering where I could find Jester, Death Master, Battle Dancer and the like. Got the Dragon Compendium, love it, and while I was here started checking out the message boards. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of civility and depth of knowledge displayed herein, and decided to throw in.

I guess I qualify as one of the new guys here. I have bought a few things over the last year or so from Paizo, but until October I never really looked at the messageboards. Now that I have subscribed to Pathfinder, bought the Dragon Compendium, and considering buying some of the GameMastery modules/accessories, I guess I might be here for awhile.

I’m very new to these boards. I just started strolling through the rooms here less than a week ago.
My friends and I started gaming back in 1978 when I was in high school. I used to take the buss to the downtown library where a number of gamers gathered for D&D. I believe that was just as the first edition hardbacks were being published. I still remember my first game with my mage. I had no idea what I was doing. I took the shield spell and tried to hide behind it by backing up against the closest wall when the fighting began. Then, to my horror, we entered a room where all the walls were full of large holes! Ahh, those were the days.
Over the years we have played all kinds of games. But we keep coming back to D&D. Of late, one of my friends from that original gaming group has been GMing all our games. A couple of weeks ago he started telling me about this incredible new game he wants to start running at the beginning of the year. And he gave me a copy of the Pathfinder Player’s Guide to read. Now I’m completely hooked. Whether at work or at home I find myself thinking about the character I’m going to be playing and making mental notes about his past and his personality. From what I read in the Player’s Guide I think we are all in for a grand adventure.
As for the message boards themselves, I have a bit of a problem. I’m afraid to read them. I have a grand adventure awaiting me and I don’t want to spoil it by reading something I shouldn’t. So I’ve been tiptoeing through the posts as though through landmines. I don’t want to trigger any explosions, but I find myself drawn here nonetheless.
But I must say I’m very impressed with the posts that I’ve read thus far. Everyone has been polite, helpful and often very entertaining. And I cannot begin to express how pleased I am that employees of Paizo also take the time to hobnob with the commoners. *smiles* Few companies these days seem willing to be so sociable, and that means a lot to me. My friend has a very high opinion of Paizo and I can certainly understand why.

Well it's starting to die off -- any other new lurkers want to take the plunge and post?
No.
