I need cat names asap!!!

Off-Topic Discussions

My fiancée and I just inherited two brand new absolutely adorable kittens. They are about twelve or thirteen weeks old and presently being rambunctious and causing havoc throughout our house and reminding me that I have not cat proofed anything…oh well. I simply cannot think of a name for them. I have a weakness names from the classics e.g. a cocker-spaniel named Dante, but I’m just at a loss. Help!!! I will tell you about them. The boy is gray and white with the markings of a tabby. He is the smaller of the two but clearly the leader. The girl is a tawny color with some tabby markings and some calico. She is extremely shy but playful once she’s comfortable. They are so affectionate with each other I don’t know if I can separate them as I had originally planned. We’ll just have to be a two cat home! They both need names asap!!! Suggestions?

Hastur?
Meepo?
Frodo Cattins?

My suggestion is to try calling whatever you want to name it aloud three or four times and consider whether or not its something that'll be humiliating to call when company is around
I've always been partial to Sollembaum or Bast.

Phobos and Demios is good, but there's also Dante's guides, Beatrice and Virgil.

Just asked my boss what she named her cats: Tristan and Paige.

Personally, I would go with Cat and Dog.

Hecate.

Bast.

Circe.

Isis.

I know an artist, freemason and gamer that called his cat "Hitler Apocalypse" because he knows none of his Chinese neighbours know what it means. What an incurably dumb name for a cat.

When I was young, we had a black cat called Bagheera and a striped called Shere Khan, after the panther and tiger from the Jungle book.

It would help to have a picture of your kittens as names often suggest themselves.

Tristan and Isolde would be a cute combo. I have a weakness for Arthurian legend and Shakespeare, so I would definitely suggest names from those two great legacies of literature. Lots of names, many of them coming in pairs. *Loves her parents' two cats named Martin and Merlin* Not exactly a matched pair of names, but VERY fitting.

Also, to note your two cat household idea, it's worth it. They'll keep each other company when you're not around, and they'll help balance each other.

You could name them after atom bombs. "Fat Man" and "Little Boy" would work, at least, if both of your cats were male.

For small dogs and cats, I like really butch names like "Moose".

Napoleon?

and that would make the female Josephine? (or Dynamite?)

Kid Mojo, Slowbox Rob or Shadowfax for the boy

Nynaeve, Folehar or Cymoril for the girl

I have three cats called Moogy, Keiko and Pixelle. My sister (Who loves Final Fantasy) called her cat Kupo (pronounced Koo-po).

"Pushkin" and "Tolstoi" if you go down the literary road once more ?

"Hugin" and "Munin" ( Odin's Ravens ) ? ok, their colour schemes don't fit

"Chaos" and "Mayhem" .... if you feel prophetic ?

"Punch" and "Judy" ?

"this" and "that" (for redundancy...)

"Mi" an "Uh"... ok, too much "Rush Hour 3" I guess

some legalistic friends named theirs ( first on, then the other ) "hearsay" and "rumours".... perhaps "Chit" and "Chat" works in the same vein ?

The one my family had was named "Monster", which proved to be aptly fitting... Personally I would use that one again.

What about

Fist and Antilus?

How abou Remus and Romulus?
Zues and Athena?
Isis and Osiris?

I had a fish named Optimus Prime.

He died.

You can have the name for your cat. Go ahead.

Try it out.

"Heeerrree Optimus. Heeeeeereee Optimus. Here kitty kitty - Optimus Prime, where are you?"

That's one of the most twisted naming ideas I've ever heard.

I like it.

Thank you all. The names are now officially Asmodeous (aka Asmo) and Tosca.

Thanks all

Most cats do.

A woman I used to know had two cats: Lancelot and Guinivere.

Also, my uncle had three cats named Gryphon, Demon, and Dragon.

Yes he does, he jumped off a high book self and he must have ponuce to because he did a full attack on my chest. He has to have damage reductions and regenaration to because I tried to kill him, and he's still alive.

Anybody here find it funny that the names chosen weren't ones suggested? You've been seeing other people, haven't you, Monterey?!

Hey! Cats are cool! And evil cats are funny (provided they live at someone else's home). You could've named one Dog. My mom named a cat Dog once (because she couldn't refuse it and she's not much of a cat person) ans he says she trained and it behaved kind of like a dog (personally I think my mother is a little of her rocker at times).

my brother called one of his cats Vlad.
After Vladimir the impaler.
better known as Dracula :D

I'll have to remember that next time I name a cat (it'll be a hard choice between something like that and Hastur).

On a vaguely related note, one of my friends shares a birthday with Ivan the Terrible

Hmm. Is there a theme there? It seems like Asmodeus should be paired with another devil.

Or Tosca with Cavaradossi... That's a mouthful, so I would use Scarpia instead.

My anal-retentiveness aside, I think you've picked good names.

GODAMMIT!!! NOT AGAIN! I wondered where that post went. Multitaking doesn't always serve me, I suppose.

They say animals respond best to names with two syllables. :)

I may have mentioned it in the dog name thread, but there was a guy that named his dog Batman. In New York City. When it got loose late at night, he was running down the street:

"BATMAN!! HERE BATMAN! HAS ANYONE SEEN BATMAN?!"

Did you name your next fish Rodimus Prime?

I have known dogs named Kitty, Romeo, and Maria. Awkward trying to call them home.
