Haven't posted since yesterday, but all of this new information leads me to believe that this could actually work.
How many of you have long distance friends who used to play or friends and associates from MMORPG's you'd love a chance to game with, but cannot because of geographical limitations?
My major concern now is that the "vampire" in the new Monster Manual will depict a corporate drone that drains cash from their victims in exchange for the smallest widgets of game material.
*crossing fingers*

LOL. You made my day ( and as it is five minutes past midnight here, I can say so)
Stefan
I'm seriously, mortally worried about the game now. Given the quality of WotC's releases over the last 12+ months (hoping against hope this is the result of the 4e push), I fear that the source books are going to be the same mash of missing content, grammar errors, and lack of either playtesting or editing that we've seen all too clearly. Spell Compendium is the perfect example of this.
I fervently hope, if only for the continuation of the game I've loved these last 25 years, that 4e is a success. WotC's track record just doesn't inspire confidence.
I'll pick up the first book, but if it doesn't give me a compelling reason to switch, I'll stick with 3.5.
Well, here's the New Logo and details:

What!? 2005!?
my biggest concern about 4e . . . I will actually have to spend some time on Gleemax.

c'mon wizards. If you're going to pull off a countdown stunt you have to deliver when the f~*+ing counter is done.

Did you back out and reclick on the D&D site? If so, it gives you an old timer.
oh man, someone in their IT department has just broken out into a cold sweat... just hoping he/she get's it fixed before marketing notices.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
It was a giant count down to their servers crashing!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Service Unavailable.

A little anticlimactic. I expected amazing things - hell breaking loose for one.
That would be the reason.
So wait for this to get fixed or . . . . . . . go play WOW. I know what I am thinking.
Kidding

They really should have known this would happen.
You should not say everyone should come to your house at a specific time if your house is not big enough to fit everyone.
Ha! The site doesn't work.
*hums a few bars of 'girl from ipanema'*
Seriously, what did they expect?
That nobody would reload the page when the timer ended (or rather, click on the "Now" that appeared)???
If only they could have anticipated that we would all click at exactly the same time.
Nice one wizards, way to put your best foot forward. This stunning display of competence will surely silence the nay-sayers.
Sigh.
Come on, like we didn't expect something like this (Service Unavailable)
I wonder if there is a bunch of people at GenCon staring at an empty podium . . .
No doubt - every single hard-core DnD player who is not at GenCon right now is attempting to sign into the website. At least their plan worked, even if they couldn't handle the demand. Hope this doesn't forbode their ability to live up to future online promises...
Sebastian wrote: it's loading... And, it's the countdown again.
Ha! I got the page minus most of the pictures.

lol didn't somebody earlier say it was a countdown to Y2K?
I was at the con earlier hanging around the Paizo spread and everybody seemed upbeat there. The few I mentioned this to didn't seem to be sweating it. And the con had the puke green announcement up over stairs and escalators. I got to the hotel I work at and the gen-con key cards we receieved are also all 4dventure green/brown with the dice : \
