I was wondering if any of my fellow Pathfinder subscribers are looking forward to Paizo using just OGL material, particularily only SRD materials, with new material in their adventures and and Pathfinder? My enjoyment of Dungeon has occassionally been curtailed by the recent trend to include PrC and feats from books that I have no interest in (which, I have to be honest, is just about anything WotC has released in the last three years).
After reading through D0, I was very pleased.

I'm of two minds on this. While I have complete confidence in Paizo for creating great new OGL stuff, and using existing materials thoughtfully, I'd by lying if I said I wasn't going to miss some of the non-OGL materials; particularly iconic monsters like Beholders, Mind Flayers, Kuo Toa, Yuan-ti...you get the idea. But you roll w/ the punches...

I'm also a bit ambivalent. On the one hand, I'm excited to see some new structures created by the Paizo crew basically from scratch. On the other hand, there is some cool WotC IP stuff that I'd like to see.
Of course, if Paizo is able to incorporate some really nifty OGC from other publishers, I'd be super jazzed.

Personally I Love Open Content (I don't use anything but the PHB, DMG, MM, and MIC)
Generic Settings and material allows me too adapt it easily to my homebrew world..
Besides if I want to change a Multi-tenticled-Seeing-floating Orb with a beholder I can...All I have to say to my PCs is" Look a Beholder"

I am in a similar boat with the addition of Tome of Battle, DMG2 and PHB2.
I can't wait to see what they invent now that Paizo is of a narrower focus. So far the new stuff they came up with has been cool. Slurks. I wouldn't want to fight one just because it sounds like a horror story of a clean up after that fight! Not to mention that they are tough!I have nothing but confidence in Paizo to provide stellar, cutting-edge, products and am looking forward into a future that makes me tingle with anticipation like a school girl.....doing something....school girlish...and.....stuff....... Anyway, the future is looking exciting.

I also was very pleased with D0. But I am not at all concerned with Pathfinder being "limited" to the SRD + whatever the creative minds at Paizo can come up with--because the second part of the equation means there really isn't much of a limit on the awesome goodness we can expect. That being said, I'm not specifically happy that they *can't* use other WOTC non-SRD material--I'm just not bothered by it. I can do without Beholders and Yuan-ti because I know the folks at Paizo will come up with something just as good or better.
And the good thing is that *we* the players aren't limited by anything. For example, maybe Pathfinder can't have NPCs who are Spellthieves, Hexblades, Warmages or Favored Souls, but we as players can. And it gives Pathfinder a chance to possibly introduce new material for which they might have lacked the impetus to create, absent such "restrictions."
So, in short, I'm not worried.
Just eager.

Several of the previous posters bring up a good point: "limiting" themselves to OGL material opens up all the other material to re-design with that particular Paizo inflection. Just as the designers have reinterpreted Goblins, Kobolds, etc. they can do the same with classes, feats, etc; i.e. crunch to augment the fluff.
Surely the mystic warrior, agile warrior, focused caster, etc. archetypes have seen several iterations already. I'm eager to see Paizo's take on these things as the need arises.

It's not as though you can't pick up one of the many adventures WotC have been releasing lately, past Dungeon magazine adventures or Adventure Paths, to find encounters with Beholders or Mind Flayers.
I'm very happy to see Paizo creating new creatures (Tatzlwyrms) and re-imaging existing ones (Razor Crows). It rekindles the feeling of excitiment and discovery I had back in the early days of D&D Basic - originality I haven't experienced now for 20 years.
If Paizo keeps up this level of innovation and quality, I don't think I'll be missing Beholders or Mind Flayers in the least!

Personally, while OGL is nice and all, I really want to see a nice campaign setting and module series (AP) that takes advantage of some of the nicer splatbooks, such as Tome of Battle, PHB2, etc. I would give anything to see some of that, as a lot of the NPCs and characters I see would be perfect using other roles. Of course, I can switch them out myself (and do), but it's always a joy to have it ready to go for me. :)

I'm very HAPPY that there won't be any beholders or mind flayers. And I'm very HAPPY that Paizo will be giving us some of the better creations from other d20 publishers including some of their own. And I'm very HAPPY that Paizo will be reimagining some of the creatures that we are already familiar with. Go Paizo!

I refer to it as squeeing. Usually squeeing is followed by glomping. ;)
Yeah, "squee" and "glomp" are words I use as well. I think they came from the anime fans, but I'm not entirely certain.

That'll be the magical knickers...
In my experience of my SO's anime collection, every high school uniform consists of a sailor suit and magical knickers, so the young girls can fight the inevitable invasion of giant robots (who, of course, can transform without losing any functionality or squashing their pilot to mush...).

I'm confused; I thought all creatures in the MM (sorry; Core Book 3) were the industry standard.
Subsequent Monster Manuals, fair enough, but are you saying that some of the book is core (probably animals & vermin), and the rest is off-limits?
And if so, how are players, DMs, and (more importantly, litigationally speaking..., third-party designers) supposed to tell the difference?

No - some are not in the SRD which is what the OGL is based on. Some of these are the iconic D&D monsters like those mentioned above. Presumably WotC consider them their intellectual property.

I feel confident that the lack of volume in the OGL material will cause the Paizo folks to be very creative in what they make for Pathfinder. Personally, I would be as happy as a pig eating slop if the D&D license just belonged to Paizo. They already have the best minds in the industry working for them, and they have a healthy respect for the history and origins of the game. Once Dungeon is done, I will gladly be getting every Pathfinder issue, and likely making most of my homebrew world based off Varisia instead of any of Wizards published settings.
With the incredible job these guys did with the first 3 AP's, I can't wait to see what they are going to do with expanding on the OGL material as time progresses.

I gotta admit, I'm not too worried about the lack of Wizards of the Coast non-OGL material. It'll be fine, and it will allow Paizo to publish stuff that can fill the gaps if necessary.
As an aside, some of the most interesting and innovative computer software has come about as a result of overcoming severe limitations in the environment. I expect that Paizo will be giving us things that will redefine and greatly expand "the world's most popular role-playing game." My toes are tingling in anticipation of Pathfinder, especially once it's past the "holy crap, I hope we can sustain this" stage. :)

Yes, my friends constantly squee and glomp. I think. I'm still not entirely sure of what those two things are, but from what I've derived from their use...I just don't really know anymore.
*Brain Fart*
I believe squee is a portmanteau of "squeal" and "glee," as in squealing for glee. It basically means making a loud exclamation of excitement and happiness, or being giddy like a schoolgirl.
Glomp's etymology is unknown to me. It means basically to hug someone with exuberance. A glomp is sometimes called a tackle-hug, I believe, although the glomper does not intentionally knock down the glompee.

As long as I don't see a line in a future gamemastery module such as: "after being rescued, the children of the town squee as they jump up and down and glomp the PCs after their cages are unlocked" or somesuch I'm ok with him knowing it.

Mike, step away from the dictionary (urban or otherwise). We're here to help!

Learn these words and know them by heart if you ever want to go to an anime convention. Think of them as words you need to know to survive such an environment. Kinda like how knowing "please," "thank you," and "f#++ off, a+%&&$$" works in most situations in English-speaking nations.

I strive to keep anime's influence on my works somewhat more subtle than that. ;D

Master of Masks, indeed!
When will we see the Ocarina Oracle, the Waker of Winds, and the Tri-Force Adept (arcane/divine/psionic theurge?)?
And, Fakey; whilst it's OK for you to feel a tingle, if you ever start to feel like Tingle, or (God help you), actually feel Tingle, then I'm just going to have to intervene...

It's a huge bonus for me. I've never been a huge fan of WotC's work and my d20 library only includes the core three books published by them. Everything else I have is 3rd party.
I love the fact that I will not need any of their stuff to fully enjoy Pathfinder.

I'm working on an adventure to submit to Gamemastery once the submission guidelines come out (though I probably won't actually be done with it for a few months yet) and it's tough not to swipe stuff from WotC stuff for it. The Crimson Scourge PrC (Cityscape) would be perfect for one of the villains. And who doesn't like Acid Sharks (Dungeonscape) or Arcane Pollution (Cityscape) and if they made the Heroes of Battle victory point system all OGL I'd LOVE to do a war-based module.
