Since Monte Cook has more or less retired from publishing gaming material (at least for now), I was wondering if there was any interest from Paizo in using some of his material just as the Iron Heroes rights were purchased by a third party.
Arcana Evolved gave us some great material, and while I am sure paizo can craft just as good stuff, I think it would be a pity to not see any more use of the Monte Cook creations. The Hu-Charrad (Giants) and Mojh are some of my favorite fantasy races, and I love the Greenbond and Runethane classes.
I will adopt your new campaign setting without a second thought, and I will likely include some of Monte's stuff in my own games, but I prefer it of course when it is done flawlessly by professionals such as you. :)
Just simple mussings as I look impatiently forward to Paizo's future.

Monte's stuff is really good (naturally), but his classes and races are so intimately tied to his campaign setting that incorporating them would be difficult. That's not to say you, as the GM, can't do include all the AE goodness you want, but we'll likely mostly stick with what we create. (I say mostly because we'll probably use monsters from Tome of Horrors... eventually...)

More than a fair answer and I thank you for it. I will likely try to keep some of Monte's stuff, but I agree that integrating them is very difficult because of the flavor. Hence why it would have been wonderful if you at Paizo did that hard work for me ;)
That said, Paizo is the only company that is making roleplaying supplements I have interest in. Thank you.

Haelis, you posted what I considered posting myself. My little sob story is that I'm late to the Monte Cook party; just in time to wave goodbye to him. In the last few months I've picked up almost all the Arcana Evolved & Ptolus goodness I could get my hands on. Only to find out he's now semi-retired from gaming. Sigh.
After discussion w/ Andrew Turner in another thread here (Castlemourn), I came close to asking Paizo if they'd consider making their new world a "world" in a different sense. Either something so large (think Jupiter and not Earth) that it had room for other designers' settings to be placed on it, or simply a flat plane (demi-plane?) that had large enough dimensions to incorporate other settings (D20 & OGL).
The idea was that smaller campaigns by noted designers could find a new home, and the whole shared world would be good and profitable for one and all. Just imagine as a player: "ok, we've spent a number of levels in Ptolus, now we're ready for some outdoorsy goodness in (fill in the blank)." All you'd need would be a logical system of moving the parties & campaigns around on the same world. For example, the equivalent of Sigil, the City of Doors.
This might spare these non-mainstream settings from a slow death, and the resultant variety of choices would be good for all. Or so I imagine in my idealistic ways.
But then someone at Paizo confirmed their new world would be Earth-sized, and I dropped the idea.
Until you posted :)

Monte Cook had dropped out of publishing and designing???
Huh??? What did I miss??? I check out his web site pretty often and thought he was still going strong.
Ya know what would be really cool? Paizo should hire Monte, or at least start using him as a contributer. I always thought Monte was one of the best of the 'current' generation of game designers ...

That's the chant. Scuttlebutt has it WoDd20 is his last full-scale gaming product.

As I understand it, Monte doesn't want to work for other companies. At least, not other game companies.
That said, you should check out Dragon #359. ;)

Dragon 359 is the last issue right? The great big, go out with a big bang issue? And you're saying Monte Cook will be doing something for it? Wow, I'm really anxious to find out what else will be in this issue! It still stinks in a big, HUGE way to have Dragon taken from us (and let's face it, that's what is happening) but at least we have this last mongo issue to look forward to.
Speaking of mongo sized issues, do you know the actual page count for issue 359?
Thanks!

Monte isn't complete disappearing from the gaming world, however. He is one of the people listed as being on the Gleemax Advisory Board.
I hope he advises them to change the go se colour scheme.
and I might look at a WoD d20, I like the mechanics of WoD 2.0 but the games have felt, hollow.

(lol) this reminds me of the time 2-3 years ago that Stephen King said he was gonna stop writing... ;)
Steve never said he was going to stop writing, he said he was going to stop publishing what he wrote. His plan was to keep writing and put everything that he wrote into a safety deposit box until after his death (probably one of the best life insurance policies for his family ever) but now both of his sons are published writers and doing well on their own, Steve is releasing all the stuff he writes. I'm glad, too, because I didn't want to wait for the guy to die so's I could read his stuff.
Hope Monte does the same thing.

Actually, what it more reminds me of is when Mark Rein-Hagan decided to go West to Hollywood to seek his fortune after the success of the Original World of Darkness. And Mark is doing...what?...now? Kinda sad, actually. I thought he had a lot to contribute but after an initial buzz...he dropped out of sight. Sure, White Wolf continues but, at least in my mind, the New WoD pales in comparison to the Old WoD.
I kinda hope Monte--gods bless him for everything he's done for our hobby--doesn't overestimate his cross-genre potential in the way that Mark did. I'd hate to be asking "Whatever happened to Monte?" in a couple of years...

You said what I've been afraid to say out loud. I too wish Monte all the best, for all the great stuff he's given us. But I'm worried that he might find it hard doing other things. I'll keep my fingers crossed everything works out for the best for him.

Gleemax looks rather unintelligent but it's keeping the Wizards forums going so there is that. Ah well, back to the topic at hand, beyond a few exotic weapons I rather liked, the claws mainly, I would import two of the races if I could and maybe fit them with the more or less standard classes. And the two races that I would import are the Sibeccai and his cat race whose name escapes me right now. But I'm partial to canine humanoid races so I might be a tad prejudiced.

You might also want to look at the Apnu from Green Ronin's Hamanaptra setting. I'm eager for Entombed with the Pharoes to arrive so I may see how plug and play elements from Hamanaptra are.
I've already figured some proxies for the old Egyptian deities.
Ra = Sarenae
Calistria = Bast
Nut= Desna
Nethys = Isis
They don't map exactly, but it's a start.

Ah yes, I had forgotten the name and rather than just put in any old thing I admitted that he had a cat race but could not remember the name. Hmm, I wonder if there is an update from Bastion Press on their Dover race that I thought looked interesting.
