John Zorn's Moonchild

This album is a difficult listen. I had to take a break the first time through in order to fully appreciate all of it.

Around the three minute mark of this song, it really begins to set my teeth on edge by the combination of sounds and gibberish and odd beats. Mike Patton is genius and Zorn's ability to conduct his performers is incredible.

Are you ready to melt your brain?

Good!

Insider soundtrack

Stiff Records (with their unbeatable sales pitch, "If it ain't Stiff, it ain't worth a f#%*") was one of the great indie labels of the late seventies British punk/new wave/whatever scene. Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe's solo career, The Damned, Ian Dury & the Blockheads, a lot of great artists got their start there.

Stiffs' Live Stiffs was a package tour featuring EC, NL, ID, Wreckless Eric and Larry Wallis. They made a movie, which I have never seen and a record which is highly worth tracking down.

Nick Lowe plays a smoking version of "I Knew the Bride" which beats any other version I've heard.

EC turns in a cover of Dusty Springfield's hit "I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself" and a rockin' version of "Miracle Man".

The rest of the album is great, too, but if you're intrigued you can track down the rest on youtube, or even better, find a copy at your friendly local used record store!

Yar!

I'm listening to the Philharmonic Orchestra of my city rehearse for an upcoming show.

(I'm a theatre technician, and I'm at work)

Nothing like high quality live music.

‘Hello’ was the first song I heard from them and to be honest I really did not like it at the time. I really like some of their stuff since then, and Hello has kind of grown on me, but its still far from my favourite Cat Empire tune.

The Exchange

Right now I've just started listening to the Captain America: The First Avenger soundtrack by Alan Silvestri. First time I've ever bought a soundtrack without having seen the film/show it was written for, so its an interesting experience listening to these bits of music without the image from the screen in my mind. Thoroughly enjoying it too I might add.

I've been doing this more recently as well. Except I use Jango because it works outside of the United States while Pandora does not (unless you get more technical and start using American based proxy servers).

Also I based my station off The Birthday Massacre, After Forever and Abney Park.

A lil Black Flag.

I've been listening to a pandora station based off of my favorite songs from Fallout: New Vegas but I took a break from that and doing a complete listen through of the Decemberist's album: The Hazards of Love.

That entire album is based around the story of a shapeshifter that falls in love with a human woman and his adoptive mom (a fey queen) doesn't appreciate it very much. Somehow I think it may influence some stuff in my kingmaker game.

Can--"Halleluhwah" from the album Tago Mago which, apparently, is German for "brain-melting."
