Peruhain of Brithondy
His posts are informative, well written, and entertaining. And (I would like to think) fit with the level of richness and grounding in reality, folklore, myth, and history that I prefer.
Lilith
Because she really contributes, and although I don't agree with all of her opinions on things (though I do more often than not), her posts make sense, are fun, and encourage people to play, and bring in a lot of references to books, films, food, etc. and other things things non gaming but relates them to the game or to the gaming table.
Mike McArtor
Because its great to see someone at Dragon on the board, and he has a great attitude, he tries through his posts to help those of us trying to get our stuff published, and on his non couselling posts, he makes himself part of the board community rather than setting himself above it (though I have to say that all of the folks at dragon and gamers in general are pretty good at that).
Well thats my three.

hmm only 3; that is hard; Farewell2kings and Ultradan and Heatherson are I guess my favorite posters; but, really I like so many others like Saern and Lilth and Great Green God and Fake Healer and James Keegan and Matt_the_dm; and of course Aberzombie, sheesh it just doesnt seem fair to not mention them too though there are others; I read just about everything from these guys.
Why, well they often have something to say that is generally a good contribution to gaming and fun; I can never spell heathasons name right; lol my bad; love his untitled posts and the whole laid back theme of that post. Love some of all these guys rants; and in game mechanic and playing discussions their seem to be well thought out opinions; hehe funny how most of them are all in the beer discussions too; and beer is a friendly people drink.

I can't answer this at all. It's like chili, there's way too many ingredients that combine into one excellent mix to narrow it down to three.
You got your stew meat, your cayenne pepper, kidney beans, chili pepper, and masa flour. Then you get crazy and throw some corn in there and a fifth of Jack Daniels or whatever you got. Dip some chips in there, sprinkle on some cheeze, bust open a Budweiser, and hell with it.

Excluding folks I know in real life (Sel Carim and Galin) who are freakin' great guys here's my top three.
1. Saern
2. Lilith
3. D13
Not that there aren't reams of other people I would love to add! Tons of cool people around here. But yeah the aforementioned are my absolute faves and responsible in large part for why I post here.

Okay, here's my favorites:
1)Slovenly Trull
2)Spanky the Leprechaun
3)Bobgoblin
Are those real posters?
Or just great what-if's?Bobgoblin; I wish I'd grabbed that one, for myself.
Spanky; conjures up some seriously deviant mental images...
Slovenly Trull; takes me back...
...Believe it or not, young newbies, but in the dark primeval un-PC days of 1st Ed, there used to be an entry for prostitutes in the Urban Encounter Tables. Not content with that, they even had a sub-table for the 'quality' of the merchandise(!), including such gems as "brazen strumpet", "cheap trollop", "aged madam", and "sly pimp". Ah, those were innocent times....!
Needless to say, this table did see occasional use, when PCs took their bulging sacks (of loot...) to the seedier side of town.
After one session, we had to go looking for a fellow PC who had gone incommunicado, and were told we found him in the arms of (DM's words) "a slovenly trull"; of course, our teen vocabulary not being as advanced, we all totally misheard, and assumed he'd been porking a TROLL, for which we gave him endless grief...
...he was bundled downstairs, to the sound of our shouts of "Hold her down! Cover her in oil!....", while the DM stared at us in horror...
Made the "gazebo" confusion seem somewhat tame...

favorite posters when I was 16?
Dark Side Of The Moon
Randi Rhoads
Miss February
I don't have favorite posters, only favorite posts. Although, on a human level, I can certainly guage who I could prolly hang with. I find the contributors here tend to be typically consistent in tone and content and I find myself tuning in to enjoy, learn from, and laugh at their offerings. An easier list to compile would be which posters do I make no attempt to follow... but that would be throwing rocks at glass golems because I probably top many peoples lists in this regard. Not to mention it just isn't nice.

The Jade wrote:but that would be throwing rocks at glass golemsHas there ever been a glass golem? I don't mean a stained glass golem, just a plain ol' glass golem.... that could be interesting.
I can't recall. I once worked on designing a vial golem, which was a golem built around a substance, thus that if it was breached during battle, a trapped cloudkill, acid, or some such would pour out onto the attacker.
I was asked to revise an article for Dragon back in 1997 about golems, which was a sequel to one I had published in '86, but I was in a car accident and the article didn't just get knocked to the back burner, it got knocked right out of the house. Shame too, because I had 98 of 100 list entries approved and the editor of Dragon at the time only wanted another 2. I kick myself for that one all the time. Never tried to write for Dragon again after that.

I've noticed that the Paizo boards seem to generate this... aura I suppose, of intellectuality. New posters range wildly from the inspired to the inane, but anyone who hangs out here long enough drifts much closer to a cultured, well-thought way of writing. It's very much a different experience from a lot of the large boards out there, where rudeness and immaturity seem to sometimes run rampant.

I think it's the light-colored background and cool avatars and easy user interface. It makes everyone happy, not like those other messageboards with dark backgrounds... so hostile... uhm, yeah.
I will not limit myself to just three people. I will also continue to post as more come to my head. These are in no particular order:
Fake Healer. Good posts, good attitude (in an odd, but good, way), love his job protecting the spelling of core classes!
Heathansson. Largely for the same reasons as Fakey.
Tequila Sunrise. Always raising questions.
Peruhain of Brithonday. I challenge you to find a more scholarly Paizonian.
Grimcleaver. Placing me on your list has nothing to do with this! (The check is on it's way, as we agreed)
Sel Carim. Well written, well thought.
Lilith. She makes the internet crap work! I just poke it with a stick and grunt while scratching my head. Plus, she gave us the Stat Block Bank, and now DM Tools!
Sebastian. Never one to mence words, his sense of skepticism and balance is superb.
Ultradan. I was really impressed by some of those encounter charts!
Moff Rimmer. Come on, go back to being Bill...
Kyr. Also posts some good questions and provides nice insights.
Vegepygmy. Similar in post style to Sebastian.
Farewell2Kings. The campaign journal is great!\
Thanis. I don't think I ever thanked you for that 10th level sun elf mage in the Stat Block Bank (which, sadly, never saw play...)
The Jade. Just seems like a good guy in general.
James Keegan. Good insights, funny picture.
Finally (for this post), it's always nice to see the clouds peal back and a shaft of light descend, accompanied by a choir of seraphim, when Erik Mona or James Jacobs deign to grace us with a sentance or two.
| Ultradan |
I'll have to go with the majority and say that I like these boards for all of it's posters, as a whole... (For even I have dumb ideas from time to time)
The posts are clean, fun, and (usually) very helpful even to veterans like me. I could of only wished for a place like this when I first started.
Just think of what we have here: Unlimited RPG help regarding rules, adventures, monsters, ideas, etc... From every different point of view possible: From the forty-year old veteran all the way to the 10 year old kid who's just discovering this great hobby (and has ideas of his own).
You guys are all great in my book.

I'm afraid I have to second the nomination of all the regulars. My nomination by several posters above is appreciated, but I also take it as a sign that I spend too much time hanging out here and pontificating. I wish my students listened to me as much as you folks do!
I've made several friends through exchanges on this forum, and appreciate the spirit of friendly sharing that pervades the boards. I'd have to list at least twenty names or more to do justice to the people whose postings regularly stimulate my imagination and help me improve my game!
| Valegrim |
Can we say 'popularity contest'?
...J/k, but seriously I couldn't name a favorite or group of favorite posters 'cause I just love you all so damn much *sob*!
Hmmm, maybe if I wrote less posts like this one I'd do better in popularity contests...
Thanks for the hit, Saern!
Hey T.S.; i like your posts; just dont see many is all; was trying to keep mine short; same could be said for so many of you. I would guess we all have favorite threads we all check and those all have regular posters and those peeps probably rank amongst the highest if any ranking was applicable.

The old joke goes "We must all hang together or we will certainly all hang separately." That applies here having everyone involved: Ultradan, Ragnarok Raider, Saern, f2k, Lilith, FH, TS, Aberzombie and all the others simply makes this place stronger, and as long as all hang together things will continue to get better and better. The ones I mentioned are among the top drawer of posters though (means best quality, if there was any confusion.) Peace, strength, friendship, prosperity, and good tidings, all. \\//.

Hey, McArtor! I think you still owe me that cookie!
Me too, Mike. Don't think I'll forget it!
:-P
TK
I hope you don't forget! I'm good for the cookies, really. It's just a matter of being in the same relatively small geographical area at the same relatively narrow time period. When we can work out our spacetime differences you can expect some yummy cookies.
Cuz hey, if I'm buying cookies I might as well buy some for myself as well, ne?
