Ok this is not really onrie but one of his pc's and i was wondering that maybe you could help determine if i was evil.
so here is the facts: i read necromatic books i find for the benefits like how to make a blood golem, i take intrest in the dead, i have a dire maggot named Gubbaffet(long story), I have a braclet and neckalce that i keep the remains of enemys, and finally i have 1 necromatic spell. But still I help stop evil, like just last adventure we stopped a huge tree of evil from spreading and taking over the world(also long story). So just post your opinon plz.

Well 'Onrie's Friend',
Think of it like this, you stopped the evil tree from taking over the world because YOU have plans to take over the world yourself, and that pesky tree was getting in the way. Ta-daaa!

I would say yes... you are both demented and evil. We have many evil aligned PCs that can work together quite well AND save the world... and they're still quite demented and evil.
However, as you're in Onrie's campaign, his answer is really the only one that matters as far as the final say on your PC goes.

Dear Evil Ornie,
Perhaps you're just a goth. Or maybe you only act evil to keep others away so that you don't get too emotionally attached and then inevitably hurt by those closest to you. In reality you (actually I hope we're talking about your character here) are really a softy. No wait that's me. I guess you're just a goth.*

*It's funny I just looked up the term "Goth" in my handy dictionary and the two definitions are: A member of a Germanic tribe that invaded the Roman Empire in the 3rd-5th century; or an uncivilized or ignorant person.
In fact, I was thinking of those folks who wear too much dark make-up and white powder and are into poetry by Byron, alternative lifestyles, and death. How those folks ever conquered the Romans I'll never know.

I would say that you are evil but only for 1 reason; your jewelry. While blood golems, dire maggots and necromantic spells (depending on the spell) may be unsightly, only wearing the remains of your enemies is definitevely evil. It shows that you take great satisfaction in their demise, that is definately evil.

Trust me I am not a goth. They scare me....alot, and my character is not goth either. Oh i also don't wear makeup...i'm a guy. I am having trouble understand the evil part but i understand how some of you say i'm a wee'bit demented.
(btw, you should see Onrie, hes cracking up:)| Onrie |

My reason for carrying them are to remember the past adventures and the key monsters. All it is is a scale from a dragon, the eye of a beholder(i hate them), and a tooth of a troll. Stuff like that...

None of these things are Evil in themselves. They're just Gruesome.

I have to say that I don't think that's evil. Necromancy doesn't automatically equal evil; there's actually a paladin spell from that school (Mark of Justice, I believe?). Keeping the remains of one's foes is not evil; many groups have done that throughout history as a point of pride and, as you said, to remember their deeds, although some do it for disturbing reasons as well.
The blood golem pushes it, but I guess it also depends on where you got the blood. The maggot familiar is disgusting, but not evil.
Oh, and was that Root of Evil? Most likely; there aren't too many adventures about stopping megalomaniacle (sp?) trees that I'm aware of. I have to hand it to Mike Mearls for that one- who would have ever thought of having a tree as a demon lord, and then carrying out the adventure within its body? Kudos!

If you want to remember past victories, you could keep a journal which would have the added benefit that you could take notes on the best way to deal with that type of dragon/beholder/troll. No matter what the circumstance, carrying a part of your enemy as a trophy shows that you take pride in killing them; emphasis on KILLING. One trait of good people, in the real world and in D&D, is a general concern for the lives of others. I suppose you could make a case for your character being some neutral alignment, probably leaning towards evil.

Yes, Onrie's little friend, your character is EVIL. Your PC may be mildly evil or 9 Hells evil, but it all amounts to evil. It's not because you take some tooth of a troll or the eye of a beholder, both of these are perfectly fine. In the real world, African hunters often wear necklaces of tiger's teeth or other ferocious beasts they've killed to mark their bravery and even as a religious belief that such totems will give them strength. This does not make them evil.
In D&D wizards often collect the parts of exotic and magical creatures as important material components for spells or special ingredients for other magical concoctions. This does not make them evil.
The fact that you really have to think about it and put it up to a messageboards audience tells me you already know the answer is yes, but you are in denial. What exactly were you planning to do with that book on how to build a blood golem? Any good character would likely destroy it for the evil it represents. FYI, a blood golem is EVIL. Making one is EVIL. Just carrying around the book and toying with the idea of maybe one day trying to build one is EVIL. The construction of such a golem requires the sacrifice of 16 medium-sized humanoids to Hextor (an EVIL god).
So, again, I reiterate... your character is EVIL or teetering on the edge of it ready to make the plunge.
Now...
With all of that said. Playing an EVIL character does not make YOU evil. So, if that's your inclination go with it and have fun.
Personally, though, I'd like to hear Onrie's opinion since, as Tiger Lily correctly stated already, he is the final word on it.

Ok this is actually onries pc right now. I decided to make an account. Anyway i'm trying to say that i try as much as i can to help people.I try to help save ppl's lives and practicly killed myself one time to say a friend (low lvl sorcerer + dragon and blacked out archerer = not good)but i would never sacrafice people to hextor. Nor KILL for the enjoyment. So i just happened to stumble upon the book of blood golem. I will not make it. So maybe now that could help you understand my point of veiw. A slightly bad spell and few books that help me understand undead shouldn't make me evil.
PS: For onries final decision he says i'm mostly demented and not evil.

hahaha! This is so funny in a weird sort of way but as DM opinion, yes, its demented not evil at the point he is at. Now, if he uses the blood golem book or something like that then thats diffrent. But when we are on the subject, I've been wondering if good characters can cast "evil" discripted skills. As you can tell with the assasin thread and this, allinment is one of my biggest pet peeves...
BTW Gub, stay out of AoTW or else:)

I believe they can but they get negatives for the caster level or the DC save, something like that.
Let caffine be the source-Gubbaffet
PS: look at the threads at the top and look what i did

No, your not. Evil takes application ie actions to engender evil for personal gain or the gain of some evil power. Sounds to me like your just studying which include the study of many evil creatures. Know thy enemy so to speak; at worst your doing this for selfish intrests which would make you neutral, but until you start raising dead or making compacts with evil dead or invading the minds of others to make them dance to your toon or growing those undead cyst things on them to see what happens; your basically not evil yet; keep trying; lol just kidding on that last part

No. Evil is about hurting people -- it is not about how distasteful your habits and interests might be.
It might be hard to make the case for being Good.
If you are trying to make a blood golem (rather than finding out about the process), then my answer changes -- that is definitely evil.

Jack
