Hi, i have a player who is trying to counteract a monster's ability with the spell "Shadow Siphon". Specifically, this ability is Accursed Shriek (Creature: Spectral Devil). Can that effect be countered?
The spell used is Shadow Siphon, which says:
"Cast [reaction] verbal; Trigger A spell or magical effect deals damage
Range 60 feet; Targets the triggering spell
Exchanging material energy with that of the Shadow Plane, you transform the triggering spell into a partially illusory version of itself. Attempt to counteract the target spell. If the attempt is successful, any creatures that would be damaged by the spell instead take only half as much damage, but the spell otherwise works as normal. Treat shadow siphon's counteract level as 2 higher for this attempt".
Since it refers to "magical effect deals damage", can it counteract the magical effect of a ability?
Ability Accursed Shriek: "The Spectral Devil unleashes a terrifying whinny in a 30-foot cone that deals 5d10 + 2 sonic damage. Each creature in the area must attempt a DC 31 Reflex save."
If it can, what level should be chosen to calculate the counteract?
Thanks.
Hi, a question,
How many times can you use Assisted Recovery in a round? That is, if an ally uses two actions for Assisted Recovery and fails, can another ally try it in the same round?
If you have the Haste spell, can you use Assisted Recovery twice in the same round?
Hi. I saw that the Returning Throw feat (Dwarft, level 9) is not in the Remaster version of PF2. Does this mean that it has been removed and no longer exists for players?
Thx.
I'm running Curse of the Crimson Throne, and the players have finished ScarWall. With all the treasures and items they have obtained, they can sell them for 500,000 gp.
Now they want to buy magic items of 90.000 gp, but in Kaer Maga or Korvosa, the base value is 7500 or 12000.
They have a lot of money and they won't be able to spend it.
Hello, I am confused about the price to buy and sell magic items in a city. They all have a Base Value and a Purchase Limit. The Base Value refers to the availability of the object (75%) if the price is less than that amount, and the Purchase Limit is the maximum that a store can spend on purchasing items.
Kaer Maga, has these data:
- Base Value: 7500 gp
- Purchase Limit: 57000 gp
It doesn't make sense that a PC can sell an item for 57000gp but can't buy something for more than 7500gp.
And what happens if they want to buy any item by 15000gp?
Can you explain how you do it?
Thank you.

Hi, the feat Greater Trip say:
"...Whenever you successfully trip an opponent, that opponent provokes attacks of opportunity."
Does this trigger an AoO of all PCs that threatening the target's square? Or just the attacker?
Thx
Hi
Is it possible to do all attacks of FoB with a monk's two-handed weapon (quarterstaff)? I can't find a clear answer on the forums.
Thanks.

3) Does rapid fire also work for light and heavy crossbows?
Thanks.
1. You are Two-Weapon Fighting and can throw both as a full-round action. The attack roll penalties are pretty severe (see linked table) unless you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat. Note that there has never been an official classification of alchemical weapons, but most GMs treat them as light weapons for purposes of TWF.
2. Yes, you can use Rapid Shot at level 1. You can always "use a weapon as a full round" if you have an ability that requires a full round.
3. Yes, you can use Rapid Shot with crossbows. Provided you can reload as a free action. That means having the Rapid Reload feat for light crossbows. You need Rapid Reload and Crossbow Matery for heavy crossbows. (Or equivalent feats/class abilities.) Perfect!, Thank you!

When you make an Int check, roll twice.
Neither of them says that you get an extra roll. They say you can roll twice. If you use one ability, you're already rolling twice, so why use the second ability with the same benefit?
Thank you for your answers. I'm not going to stack those traits. I also think that they are two identical traits.
Thanks :)

Pizza Lord wrote: It looks like if you used both on the same roll, you'd roll 4d20 but you would actually roll 2d20 twice, not all 4 at once.
Reroll abilities work differently in many cases and I am only going by what you've written. Some require you to declare you're using the ability before you roll, sometimes you can use it after you roll and even see the results (but not before you know the results, even if a die is a 1 or 20 and you technically would know), and sometimes you can even use it after you find out the result.
If you went to make an Intelligence skill check, it looks like you could declare Tireless Logic and roll 2d20 and take the best result. Depending on when you're allowed to declare the Inspired reroll, it looks like you would reroll the original check (2d20).
I do not see so clear. I've told him that he can't stack those two traits because they have the same trigger. I think that rolling 4d6 (2d6 and 2d6) is like taking two different intelligence skill checks. But I wanted to have other opinions.
Hello, a PC insists that he can stack traits Tireless Logic and Inspired, and roll 3d20 for a Intelligence slill check. Is it so?
Tireless Logic;Once per day when you make an Intelligence-based skill check or ability check, you can roll twice and take the better result.
Inspired:Once per day as a free action, roll twice and take the better result on a skill check or ability check.
THX.

No no no not at all, that breath weapon happens at the spot he uses it not along a portion of his distance. It's one 60ft cone if he is at max distance from the ground then its a circle of 60ft on the ground where he aimed it. But it doesn't sweep or strafe any more than if the dragon wanted to move his head while breathing it out.
I like this idea.
Movement - Breath Attack (Circle 60f on ground) - Movement
On other websites I have read that there is a feat "Strafing Breath" that allows you to lengthen the breath half of your movement. But in Pathfinder there is only the feat Flyby Attack. Anyway I will use the circle technique.
Thank you.
Hi. I would like to know if a dragon can expel his breath of fire on flying, and how the area of effect would be calculated.
Thank you.
Attack of Anaconda at Round 2: (The target is already grappled by Anaconda)
"Anaconda takes a standard action to make a grapple check to maintain the grapple. He, fortunately, succeeds. Anaconda automatically deals his bite damage (the natural attack used to start the grapple) and automatically deals his constrict damage and opts to deal his bite damage again instead of moving Target or going for the pin."
Is correct that does automatically damage with his bite and constrict damage?
I thought that Anaconda could only do bite damage OR constriction damage.
Thank you
Do the alchemist's fire bombs surpass the Resist Energy (fire) spell?

With the gloves "Gloves of Arrow Snaring" can you catch and throw rocks thrown by giants?
Feath Snatch Arrows: Instead of knocking an arrow or ranged attack aside, you can catch it in mid-flight.

Hi. I have some doubts about the Mind Blank spell. Three Annis Hag have casted Mink Blank and Invisilibity on themselves. A PC has the spell See Insibility. Do the three Annis Hag need a saving throw in order not to be discovered? What is the DC?
Thank you.
Hi. Can a archer always interrupt a caster (with an ready action) of casting a spell, regardless of spell's cast time?
Thx.
The Skull Ripper has this effect: "Dread Visage"
"Dread Visage (Su): All creatures within 30 feet that can see a skull ripper must make a DC 18 Will save at the start of their turn in order to avoid becoming frightened for 1 round. If the victim recognizes any of the heads affixed to the skull ripper’s body as having once belonged to friends or allies, that victim takes a –4 penalty on the save.
A creature that succeeds at the save is immune to the dread visage of that particular skull ripper for 24 hours. This is a mind-affecting fear effect. The save DC is Charisma-based."
Does this effect apply at the start of all rounds if PC does not success the check?
Thank you.
Diego Rossi wrote: With an average of 31 hp of damage for each grapple and constrict and 32 for the bite, we get a total of 156 (without power attack). That is above the average damage of a CR 20 creature.
The other stuff is more or less ok for a CR 15 creature.
That has always been the problem with creatures with multiple grab attacks and constrict. If you limit constrict to 1/turn, it becomes a way more manageable 102 average, the norm for a CR 18 creature with high damage.
Some doubts:
1) When the tentacle grabs the target, it deals damage of tentacle (2D6+6), plus constriction damage (2D6+11). In the second round, would it also does damage of tentacle and constriction, or only the constriction?
2) If you mantain the grapple with the tentacle, can you bite the target or attack it with another tentacle?
Thank you.
I imagine Black Magga like this:

Diego Rossi wrote: First of all, the rule of not turning your PCs into mush. It is a CR 15 encounter for level 9 (at most) characters, against an aquatic creature, in the water, while unprepared.
If you try to squeeze the maximum damage, you end with squeezed PCs.
Second, the grapple rules. Maintaining a single grapple is a standard action. There are no special rules for creatures with multiple limbs with the grab ability that allow them to maintain more than one grapple. Without a specific rule, they are limited to maintain the grapple on a single target.
I don't want turning the party into mush xD,i just want some logic. There are 4 tentacles with five target grappled, and can you only keep the grapple in one? But on the other hand, the Black Magga can attack, grapple them, and release them, and at the next round attack them with all the tentacles. I think that should be a review of this.
That's why I was thinking of a home rule. I don't want to kill the party, but don't want that the Black Magga only can moves a tentacle in an round xD

avr wrote: When she hits with a tentacle she does 2d6+6 damage and gets a grapple attempt on the target. If the attempt succeeds it does the constriction damage, if it fails then no such damage. The attempt may be made with a -20 if she doesn't want to get the grappled condition. She can grapple up to 4 creatures this way, yes.
Maintaining grapples on multiple targets is something the rules don't cover well. RAW she can maintain a grapple on only one target and it takes her a standard action. Letting her maintain on multiple targets via a full attack if she took the -20 is a bit of interpretation/house rule. Not unreasonable mind you, and I doubt a +16 CMB will work on most characters capable of taking on a CR 15 enemy anyway.
The damage for a maintained grapple after the round where the character was grabbed is the tentacle damage + constrict damage.
Thank you :)
But I do not see very logical that a gargantuan creature with 1 mouth and 4 tentacles uses only 1 tentacle as a standard action for maintain grapple. What rule do you follow?

Smite Evil does not add the charisma bonus to AC (that would be an untyped bonus with charisma being defined as the source), but a deflection bonus to AC equal to the charisma bonus. THus, it doesn't stack with any other deflection bonus to AC.
Thank you :)
Hi.
Is correct this AC for my Paladin?
AC = 10 + 11 (Magic Full Plate +2) + 3 (Magic Shield +2) + 1 (DEX) = 25
AC With spells = 25 + 3 (Barkskin) + 2 (Protection from Evil) = 30
The deflection bonus of Protection from Evil (+2 AC) stack with Smite Evil (+CHA to AC)?
Is correct?
Thank you.
Hi.
In my next session, players are going to fight with the creature Black magga, which has a multiple attacks of tentacles.
Black Magga: Melee bite +24 (2d8+13/19–20 plus energy drain), 4 tentacles +19 (2d6+6 plus grab)
In a full round, the creature can attack with his bite, and with the 4 tentacles.
When she attack with a tentacle, it does the damage of the tentacle (2d6+6), and constriction damage (2d6+11). She can attack and grapple to 4 targets (+36 CMB). Is that so?.
In the next round, she could attack with his bite, and hold grappled targets with each tentacle (with -20 to CMB) doing constriction damage. is that correct?
Thank you.
avr wrote: Both. They can attack at 5' and 10' range with normal weapons. If A had a reach weapon then they wouldn't be able to attack either B or C with it, and could attack creatures 15' or 20' away.
(Assuming that A is a large (tall) creature which seems likely given that they're using an axe. If A is large (long) then they can only attack creatures 5' away with that axe.)
Thank you! :)
Hi.
The creature Black Magga, has a STR of 37 (+13). Does 2D8 + 13 damage with the bite, and 2D6 + 6 with four tentacles.
If i want to use Power Attack, would i do this damage?
Bite:
- STR (+13) * 1.5 = 19 (1-1/2 at primary natural attack)
- BONUS (base attack +15): (+2 +2 +2) * 1.5 = 9 (+50% en bonus at primary natural attack)
DAMAGE = 2D8 + 28
Tentacles:
- BONUS (base attack +15): (+2 +2 +2) * 0.5 = 3 (50% bonus at secondary natural attack)
DAMAGE = 2D6 + 9
It is right?. Thank you.
Hi.
Can large creatures attack an adjacent target with an axe?
A = Large creature
B = NPC 1
C = NPC 2
X = 5'
Can 'A' attack target 'B' or only 'C'?
B A A X C
X A A X X

Hello, reading the Litany of Righteousness (Paladin), in the Ultimate Combat (I think the latest version), it is written that don't have saving throw, but on the web:
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/l/litany-of-righteousness/
it does have a saving throw. Which one is correct?
Thank you.
Hello, Is it possible to run when you do the overrun maneuver (whitout using charge)?

Hi. In the case of taking damage from a weapon when casting, if I have the Uncanny Concentration feat, would I need a concentration check for cast the spell?
Thank you.
Uncanny Concentration : You have learned to enter a deeper state when casting spells, allowing you to shrug off distractions, damage, weather effects, and even the effects of other spells.
Prerequisites: Combat Casting.
Benefit: You do not need to make concentration checks when affected by vigorous or violent motion or by violent weather. You gain a +2 bonus on all other concentration checks.
Hi. The Sand Golem CD 9 has 2 attacks "2 slams +18 (2d6 + 7 / grab)". Can the Golem grab two targets in a full-round assault attack?
Does the additional damage by constrict occur at the same time that the slam attack?
Thanks.
Hi. The Ooze Verdurous is immune to fire. Would the Alchemist's Explosive Bombs affect him and would they suffer fire damage every round?
Thank you.
Is it possible to interrupt a spell of "magic missile" or "mirror image" (Casting Time 1 standard action)?
In the rules it says:
"The interrupting event strikes during spellcasting if it comes between the time you started and the time you complete a spell (for a spell with a casting time of 1 full round or more) or if it comes in response to your casting the spell (such as an attack of opportunity provoked by the spell or a contingent attack, such as a readied action).
I understand that these spells can not be interrupted because they are not complete round (only standard action). They could only be interrupted in response to your casting the spell or Aoo. Is correct?
Thank you.

Hi. A player has an alchemist, and has learned the "haste" spell. I wanted to know if it can affect multiple targets. In the alchemist lists there are several spells that affect the group. Is this possible?.
I have looked at other messages and the faq but I do not see anything about it.

The Feint say:
"You can also use Bluff to feint in combat, causing your opponent to be denied his Dexterity bonus to his AC against your next attack. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + your opponent’s base attack bonus + your opponent’s Wisdom modifier. If your opponent is trained in Sense Motive, the DC is instead equal to 10 + your opponent’s Sense Motive bonus, if higher".
Is any modifier applied (The lie is unlikely, ...)?
At Retry say: Yes. You can attempt to feint against someone again if you fail.
But the Bluff say:
"You can attempt to feign harmlessness to the same target again, but each previous failed check increases the DC to convince your target by 5. This increase resets after 1 hour has passed."
is The feint DC increased at a fail?
Thanks

However, her touch attack is not an unarmed strike, but a specific type of attack that is an alternative to her normal attacks. An unarmed strike would not gain the benefits of this, and would simply deal 1 point of wisdom drain on the first hit of any round as her regular attacks do.
Thanks. Then is better that take his weapon from the ground and impale the players, hehe.
