Hey

I'm running a RotR Anny game and one of my players had some atrocious luck and got smoked in Thistletop. He wants to bring in a human rogue, and I am wondering if there is a good way to bring him in sooner than later. Any advice for this?

Thanks

Please re-release the AP before 2ns ed comes out.

What is the source of Panelliar's Pulse Dart? I couldn't find anything in the CRB or the AP, and I know the party's solarian will ask about it when they get there.

thanks

Thanks Steve. I'd had seen some people in a FB group talk about getting shipping notifications already, and wondered if that was the case.

Do subscribers get their stuff earlier than street date?

Alright, well don't cancel this order I guess. Let me know when they ship?

Thanks

Hi-

My order has been pending since Wednesday, and I'm wondering if there is any eta on me receiving this. I kind of thought that something ordered on the 14th would arrive in time for a game on the 25th, but if that isn't that case I'll need to cancel and order from somewhere else.

Thanks for your help

If they were purchased through a retailer other than paizo.com, your first step should be to seek a resolution through that retailer, whether that be an exchange or replacement, or a refund.

(Extra info: The retailer can then get a replacement or credit from their distributor, who gets a replacement or credit from us. This ensures that bookkeeping/accounting for damages or manufacturing errors is coming back to us through the same channels they went out.

If any retailer is having issues with this with their distributor(s), then they should contact our sales team at distributor.orders@paizo.com, so they can work to get everyone on the same page.)

If you purchased it through us, please email us some pictures of the book in an email, along with your order number.

Thanks!

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, the store at which I purchased the book is no longer in business, so returning to them is not an option. I guess I'm out of luck then?

Hi-

My core rule book has a cracked binding and a couple of the pages are actually starting to feel loose. The store I got it from said they can't replace it or exchange it. Where do I go from here?

Thanks :)

I guess it depends if it is a goblin-sized duck or a duck-sized goblin.

These will take my character right up to the Danger Zone!

I'll buy this if you change the quote on the main page to "Look ON my works."

I have a complete, bagged set of WOTDQ minis. Can anyone recommend a place that might be buying sets? I've tried troll and toad and they don't seem to be buying that set right now.

Don't go out of your way to be helpful or anything though.

This FAQ and page 217 of the CRB kind of derailed our game last night.

This didn't really clear things up either:

Sean K Reynolds wrote:

The existence of the "harmless" modifier for saves indicates that the target of such an effect can somehow recognize that the incoming effect is not harmful, and choose to automatically fail the save against it. Thus, you drink a potion of cure light wounds, you realize "ah, delicious healing, I willingly fail my save." If you drink a potion of poison or an instantaneous nonmagical poison, you realize "something is wrong, I'm going to try to resist it."

And if you eat something poisonous with an onset time, you don't make the save until the poison activates, and while you can choose to automatically fail, your mind or your body recognizes it as harmful and tries to reject (save) against it.

If a PC Bluffs someone and convinces them to drink a Potion of Enthrall, is that person voluntarily forgoing their saving throw and willingly accepting the spell's result?

Do characters only realize something is wrong when consuming poison? Since there is nothing 'harmful' about Enthrall, does he still get the chance to resist?

Yup, there it is. I'm not crazy. Thanks for the help!

I swear that I read something along these lines, but cannot find it. Does this exist in a feat or archetype somewhere, or did I perhaps dream it?

Are there any updates here? I came across a Zogonia Facebook page operated by Open Gaming Magazine, but it seems to have petered out as of August 2013.

A cursory internet search turns up some posts made by Tony Moseley in 2005/6, nothing more recent. I would love to see more Zogonia/Mt Zogon.

The last few Dark Tower books. Ugh.

The Wheel of Time series. Made it 3 and half books in, and just couldn't do it any longer.

Song of Ice and Fire. I get a lot of crap for disliking these, but wow, they just aren't good.

Never Let Me Go. Boring.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll take a look. Anything to not blow all my feats.

I'm doing up a 4th level cleric for a PF game taking place in the Forgotten Realms. In choosing Kossuth as a deity, I gain proficiency with the Spiked Chain.

Should I go with Combat Expertise + Improved Whichever? That would pretty much soak up my feats. If I don't feel a strong affinity for either Trip or Disarm, should I just look at those features and say "that's nice," and take comfort in whipping bad guys with a length of chain?

Not a whisper, not a shout.

Clear, firm, normal talking voice.

In a normal room, everyone can hear you, and would turn to look at you.

In a battle field, you might get ignored, as the clang of steel, and the warrior/barbarian, battle cry's get shouted all over the place. The cry's of pain & death echo around, as people get injured and dyeing. === walking around in a red robe and pointy hat, in a battle field would negate the getting ignored part tho :)===

This is how my groups have done the verbal component. I get trying to find way to tweak a rule or something in your favor, but reading strong or firm as 'it can be a whisper' is a stretch.

As far as I understand it, Knife Master does not provide proficiency with kukris. They would have to dip into a class which can use kukris, take the Martial Weapon Proficiency feat, or gain proficiency through a trait - Heirloom Weapon is the only one I know.

As to your other question, it doesn't ring a bell, sorry.

Maybe they thought you were having an off day :)

I like what Steve Geddes and the others are saying. Rather than taking offense (which I understand), keep it in-game. Instead of moving the monk 40 and arguing, move him 40 feet and describe how every step is perfectly placed, how he strides forward with practised economy of motion.

As a player, I'd then be paying more attention to what you're telling me about this guy than counting the steps he's taking.

I'm pretty sure it was those four. I don't remember any others.

My GM insists on this natural 1 skill check failure, and I hate it.

Our cleric is a member of a sect that studies and guards powerful magic items and artifacts. But because she rolled a natural 1 on her Spellcraft, she can't identify the major magic item we have been looking for. So we're sitting there looking at a huge plot point and don't know it, because her 1 is autofail rather than the 15/16 it should have been.

Run a game with this rule it you want, but I bet your players would love to get rid of it.

Don't you play this game to be a hero? Is that what you think a hero should do, kill children.

Thanks, Honorable Goblin and Threeshades. I will take a look through there to see what's what.

Anyone out there have something they've done on their own?

It's not pewter, but what about the Valenar Commander from the Aberrations set?

Are there any archetypes or variants out there that replace the Mount features? Homebrew or third-party might work as well.

I'm not interested in the Muskeeter, Standard Bearer, or Samurai, or anything that replaces the mount with another animal. Picky, I know.

When a caster creates a Wand of Ray of Enfeeblement, can s/he set the Caster Level to where the wand does just 1d6 Strength?

Honestly, I look at the wand creation stuff and it's like another language.

The more I look at this character, the more I'm thinking about using him as some maniacal, suicidal flanker, TWFing with saps or daggers.

Maybe my GM will relent and either give me more viable options for re-making this guy, or I will get to roll up a new one.

Thanks for your help- there are some great ideas in here.

Thanks for the replies.

I do get to pick 2 traits - Reactionary? and something else. Not sure if we can pick Golarion campaign traits, because we're playing in the FR.

Switching to bard might not be an option - the GM is a good friend, but when he gets this way with something it's impossible to change his mind. He is adamant about not changing the stats, too.

Knife Master is interesting, but with the low Con, will it work? Would it be worth picking up Toughness?

We did consider dumping the character altogether, but he's been just handy enough to keep around. There are some neat multi-class options here.

Is Improved Feint worth it?

Right now he's CG, but I'm think it could be changed. A monkey companion would be bananas!

StreamOfTheSky wrote:

What do you want to do? Do you actually want to play this character? What race is it, and do stats include racial modifiers?

The Con means you have no business in melee, but ranged sneak attacking is hard to do.

Level 4 point should go into str or int.

I kind of want to play this character. Two of the guys are pretty new and still getting used to their own characters - I'm the designated player for absent PCs.

It's human, and I believe the stats include the +2.

Was thinking of going with the Sniper archetype and some talents that go with it?

MrSin wrote:

So... What is supposed to change and why does he hate bards?

I guess I'm just picking feats and Rogue talents. He hates bards because "they don't really do anything except stand around and perform."

The character was originally a Bard/Rogue. The GM hates bards, and wants him all Rogue, all the time.

Must be human, must be rogue. Archetypes are allowed, but no ninja.

It's really restricting, right?

One of our friends has had to leave the game, and I am going to be playing his character, along with mine. The GM is going to let me change the guy, but with some stipulations: I can't rearrange ability scores, can't change his race, he has to be remade as a Rogue 4, and no third-party/3.X stuff; only PF material.

S 13
D 16
C 10
I 13
W 12
Ch 16

These scores do not include the 4th level ability point.

If it matters, the group consists of Paladin4, ranged Ranger4, Fighter2/Cleric2, Sorcerer4. We rarely get beyond level 10.

What should I do with this Rogue?

Thanks for stopping by.

The flight and everything that happened after it was all just a dream.

ProximaC wrote:

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" BS that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.

I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.
Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

(One-Handed Exotic Weapon)
1d12 Damage
19-20 x4 Crit
+2 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon)
2d10 Damage
17-20 x4 Crit
+5 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think?

A troll within a troll within a troll....

What? I'm not a roleplayer, just because I like SWSE? Bummer.

I wouldn't mind seeing 3pp images in the forums. When I come to Paizo, I never stop at the store, and spend most of my time browsing the messageboards.

Not sure what the problem is for everyone else.

If you have access to any Ravenloft books, maybe check Dr Victor Mordenheim. Even if you can't find any good images, there may be some interesting ideas in there.

You know how Georg Steller has a bunch of animals named after him?

I had a fighter/bard who named every new or weird creature after himself: Evren's Fire Shrimp, Evren's Surf Shark, Evren's Kobold.

Duh doy. What in the world was I thinking?

Thanks for the prompt replies.

From the APG 156.

This feat says, in part, "choose two Intelligence-, Wisdom-, or Charisma-based skills. Those skills always count as class skills for you."

If those skills always count as class skills, does that mean I can always put ranks in those skills, if I multiclass?

Or, if I took this feat during a level of cleric, I can only put ranks in it when I level cleric up?

...That one is wilder! What's next, fighters automatically get their maximum dex bonus and three extra attacks at -5, -10 and -15? That guy's crazy.

He was an odd guy. Fighters got a homebrew feat that let them deal max damage with one type of weapon, and they were never encumbered by armor.

That whole group was bananas. Only played two sessions with them.

He's very anti-gay; he challenged the Argentine government when they wanted to allow same sex marriage.

He opposes the adoption of children by gay/lesbian couples.

He opposes abortion and euthanasia.

He is against women in the priesthood.

He is a Latin American Benedict. No real change expected.
