I'm playing RotRL and my character is a NG Tiefling Abyssial/infernal bloodrager. I'm trying to figure out a way to redeem nualia but idk how to go about it as I feel just talking to her won't be enough. Also I'm a fairly new player so I don't know the rules about redemption. Advice would be appreciated!!!
The thing I notice though is that some ppl don't understand how to level characters correctly so they would need help. Not necessarily a bad thing as there's a lot to keep track of, but some ppl have learning disabilities, some ppl just simply can't comprehend how to do it even though they enjoy the game. It took me about 3 complete campaigns to learn how to level somewhat correctly (I'm fairly new to DnD), and now I can level by myself for the most part though I have to keep looking up rules for every thing on my character sheet and I am dyslexic so it takes me awhile to finish up.
I thought about the idea of having all the PC's learn a word to a shout but I wanted to stay with the lore of having a dragonborn ... also if a PC dies then a word of a shout is lost and they can only use 2 words. But I also figured even though there's a dragonborn NPC the PC's could still learn words to shouts through greybeards but it will just take some time.
The most important character to the skyrim game is obviously the dragonborn. Should I make a GMPC that the other PC's should help or should I randomly pick a PC to be the dragonborn. Pros and cons to each option. The GMPC I'm afraid would take the limelight away from the PCs if I'm not careful in how I utilize him, but it would avoid giving 1 PC really powerful abilities while the other PC's are average. Thoughts and suggestions? I know running campaigns off from video games is risky and prone to meta gaming but none of my players have played the game in it's entirety. I would also add new enemies and encounters and storylines just to make it not so "copy paste".
The annoying thing is these are the only guys I know that play pathfinder. If I walk from the table I just forfeit playing D&D. But that's why I thought about DM'ing my own campaign. I'm just afraid that it won't be great because I wanna do a skyrim campaign. One of my friends is a munchkin and my current DM is a power gamer.
Oh and he also made really powerful NPC's who are helping us. They are really overpowered for the sake of being cool. Like the archer who kills 12 people with 1 shot, or the warrior where his cleaving ability also cleaves when it cleaves. My thing though is why would you give an NPC that much gear if you didn't want the party to get said gear. The captain could just have those abilities without the use of magic items (like he's a supernatural being or something).

He's DM'd a lot of campaigns. But I'm still fairly new and learning. This is my 2nd campaign and most of my learning is coming from these forums, D20pfsrd.com, and my friends that I'm currently playing with. Sometimes I feel I know more about the game than they do though because I'm always doing research about classes, characters, feats, items, etc. they know how to play while I know more about the content of what I'm playing.
So in his campaign there were pirates getting ready to land ashore. The DM clearly didn't think we could handle them. The pirate boss jumped off the boat and the DM said "if you manage to kill him you will get a lot of good loot" because the pirate was wearing 12 really powerful rings such as; never crit fail, immune to crits, fast healing, etc. well after an hour long fight we were about to kill him, then DM made the captain use a smoke bomb to disappear. We were all annoyed and so we tried to look for him and we found the captain on the ship, we finished him off and tried to get the rings. The DM said he threw all the rings into the ocean. We were all really pissed because we got some loot that wasn't really worth the trouble and the DM said "if y'all would've gotten those rings I would've just had to kill your characters because you would all be OP." My thing is why would you give an npc really powerful gear and flaunt it as a reward if you didn't want us to get it anyways?
My friend was releasing prisoners and he kept asking what they did in order to decide if he wanted to release him. He asked a prisoner and the prisoner said "I stole a piece of bread" to which my friend rolled a sense motive and got the highest role possible for his character and the DM said he was telling the truth ... my friend replied with "WHAT DID YOU REALLY DO???" And did an intimidation role ....... me and my DM were dumbfounded.
Dragonchess Player wrote: Although not completely blind, an oracle with the Clouded Vision oracle's curse may capture some of the same feel. Appropriate mysteries may include Ancestor, Battle, Wind (Wind Sight), and Wood (Wood Bond includes bows); Wind might work best with this concept. Thought about making it a oracle with clouded vision actually with the darkness mystery but I'll check the other mysteries as well. Any recommended feats?
I was toying with the idea of an archer who is blind. I was thinking about possible ways to do this and I thought about utilizing both the blinded blade style and the empty quiver style. But I'm a fairly new player and I would like advice on how you would make such an interesting (or probably useless) character.
I want to make a Vishkanya bloodrager with the black blood bloodline. How can I best utilize the blood besides blood spells such as "blood armor". What items or feats should I shoot for? The playstyle I'm trying to go for is a berserker that will purposefully hurt himself to gain more power (that power being the poisonous demonic blood).
Fuzzy-Wuzzy wrote: Nope. Damn -_- it would be awesome to have a werewolf with flaming arms mauling some creatures face.

But would they still keep there original racial shape change ability? A Suli lycanthrope can still use elemental assault even if it's a lycanthrope so why couldn't skinwalkers? Would that be a house rule thing?
Actual thread "Relations: Skinwalkers mostly populate human settlements and communities. They tend to get along with catfolk, tengus, and members of other animal-like races (including lycanthropes), and are comfortable taking their animalistic forms in the company of these fellows. However, many natural lycanthropes see skinwalkers as weaker, inferior versions of their own kind, and some lycanthropes even take to infecting or even hunting their distant kin."

The strange thing though is the website d20pfsrd says that actual lycanthropes don't respect skinwalkers and they will either kill skinwalkers or turn skinwalkers.... the thread itself was more detailed I just used my own words. But where can I see that shapechangers can't be Lycans?
The skinwalker race already has a lesser version of Lycan form so can they be a lycanthrope? If so can the skinwalkers lesser form and a skinwalkers lycan form be used independently? While we are on the subject can a damphir become a full vampire and will their alternate race traits and race feats stack with vampirism? PS: sorry if the answer is obvious I am a new player and a new user :D

thank you both for the reply! I tried asking my DM and he wasn't even sure plus this is his first time being a DM. He assumed they didn't stack but just to make sure I wanted to find an answer. But no matter what D&D website I looked up it didn't specify if the 2 stacked or not. Then I used this website and ppl have asked this question before but they never mentioned on how they stacked which drove me crazy lol.
Does elemental assault and elemental fist stack? If so how does it stack? can I activate elemental fist to do fire damage while I activate elemental assault to do ice? do they both have to be the same element but it just adds more damage? Or does it just add extra rounds of elemental assault. PS: I am a fairly new player who is playing a Suli drunken monk as my 1st character. I also made this account today so I am still trying to learn how to use the messageboard. Thank you for your responses!!! :D |
