Zilybar Background:

The human staring down at the Halfling just shook his head in confusion. You traveled all this way for a dagger? Zilybar looked up at the man and with a bright smile. It is not just a dagger master merchant it is a Acinaces and not just an ordinary one. This one is crafted of fine steel by the Windlass master blade smiths of old with soft yet tough Tasmanian Devil leather wrapping the hilt. The design on the hand guard was etched by a one handed blind monk. The blade strong and true that shows no blemish. It is of value, a great deal of value. The human laughs a great big belly laugh. Young Halfling are you sure that you and I are looking at the same weapon. This weapon is maybe worth three silver crowns tops...if I am lucky. There are no special qualities about this weapon. The young Halfling takes the weapon from the table with the coins and turns to walk away. All at the card table were watching the exchange of words with curiosity. Over his shoulder he simple states The weapon has been handed down in my family for several generations and that is the description that comes with it. It is a family treasure that has been recovered and returned to its rightful owner. I thank you for the game and I am sorry for the lightening of your purse, I will drink it well.

Of course what Zilybar imagined would happen did not come to pass...
The human merchant shakes his head in utter disbelief and borderline anger.
Do you even know how to play cards?
Zilybar shook his head slightly
It looked easy...I am...sorry.

The table of gamblers all stood up and left the table with harsh words splayed for all to hear.
...Sorry...
and as he sat there alone and watching the room empty out.
...not sorry...
That did not go as I had hoped but at least I know who has the weapon and where it is. After tonight, I will be one step closer

With the weapon back in his family's hands, he might as well find the other pieces that were lost over the generations. Zilybar had no idea as to where to begin looking for the two gems or the Ioun Stone. The dormant weapon needed those treasures to come to full power. Zilybar made his way back to his room to stow his belongings away and to freshen up before he heads down to the main room of the Rusty Dragon. The proprietor of this establishment is woman known as Ameiko Kaijitsu. Now Ameiko Kaijitsut was a pleasant woman and she has treated Zilybar well over the last couple of days, so when asked about how and why he came to this place….well he could not refuse his tale.

Zilybar’s younger brother Bandobras was attempting to impress a young maid of a Halfling, one he fell for hard. He wanted to give her things and take her places that he could not afford. When his coin purse ran dry he tried to win some money by gambling. Not having any funds he took his fathers prized dagger down from its wall mount and used that as collateral for a game of cards. Of course he did not do well as he is not that bright and does not play cards at all. So that is how the family heirloom came to be in the hands of this merchant. He lost it at cards trying to impress a maid he just met. Stupid youth.

So when Zilybar found out he figure it was up to him to go and get the weapon back. The problem was the merchant had just left town that morning. Now it was not hard to find out where he was heading but there was a problem. Peregrin, his father who inherited this busy tavern from his father, Kordon a retired adventure of some small fame, always kept his children working hard so as to keep them out of trouble. Between Bandobras, Zilybar, and his older brother Andwise; they would split up the work load between themselves and it was Zilybar's turn to work the next few months. He made a simple deal with his young brother that he will work for him until he returns.

Zilybar’s journey took him to three small towns, he seems to always miss the merchant by a few days. He finally caught up to him in the small coast town of Sandpoint. He tracked him down in a local card house. After a disastrous first time at cards, he was able to ascertain the information he needed. After his public defeat at the tables, Zilybar used his new found information to recover his family's weapon. Quietly and quickly Zilybar changes back to yet another identity. This town seems to be filled with small folk that never return after a day in town. His trusty hat helps him out every time. He has flooded the town with small folk to the point that the merchant will go after every small person. It was time to shift his appearance to that of a tall folk. He felt that it would be safe now and he can wait patiently for the caravan ride home.

Zilybar examines the dagger again as he lies awake in his room one night. The merchant did not take good care of the weapon and will need to be repaired. The leather wrappings were coming unraveled. Looking at the wrappings he notices some writing on the inside. The language is one he does not recognize. He does recognize some of the wordings from other such maps he has found over his life. Zilybar's heart starts to pump faster as he attempts to get the meaning of the words written on the leather wrappings of the weapon that has been in the possession of his family for several generations now. He can picture what his father's reaction would be to his latest find. yes another treasure map that will give you clues as to where to go for your precious treasure. What do you think you will find when you get to this one...hmm. More questions and more maps. It will never end...at least not till you die. Stop this nonsense and get back to real honest work. Table five needs to be cleared away.

Growing up in a tavern was great for the thrill seeking Halfling, he loved to hear the stories from the adventures that would past through town. He liked it too much as his father would say. Zilybar spent years listening to the tales and every so often would take off from work to search for his own treasures. More often than not he was would come home empty handed, but there were times when he would come home with a coin or two. Those were the good days and as of late he missed those times. His travel have left him little to no money as he would purchase supplies to travel to some remote place he heard rumors about..only to find dead ends.

Zilybar shakes his head as he comes back to the present and this weapon that he now possess.
I guess little brother will be putting in overtime
He starts to walk towards the merchant district, ready to make another big purchase on supplies.
If I read those words correctly...I may have stumbled on a possible answer to my heritage. The ruins of Azlant may hold the answers...
This is going to be a long trip.
...to the origins of all Halflings.

This Jovich's submission...
I am almost finished adjusting.
I do have a question
since we are coming in at 7th Level and in Book 3
Do you want a background for the characters?

I would like to submit Zilybar for the expedition...I will adjust soon

At foremost we need to fill the (important) role of High Priest, as one player disappeared.

If the DM is opening a second slot, you should aim for the rulership roles of Royal Enforcer, Grand Diplomat (currently very fitting where we are in the story), Magister or Treasurer, as these are our weak spots :)

well that answers my question this morning...lol

Now that I have that answer I would like to switch out my old submission Trakas Aeramirdal for this one. Trakas was more melee but could fit the Magester role...This is Zilybar a thief that leans more towards mage. He can fill the Magister role as well.

Thank you for the opportunity.

Submitting Zilybar

Spy master is what this character was created for in the last KM game he was in.

I will adjust him to match up with your character requirements soon.

I have played several kingmaker games that never made it past book 1. I am in a few right now that still have not made it past book 1. I have been part of one king maker game that started back in november of 2016 and has gone through a few different GMs over the years and still is not paat book 1...lol So I have had some experience with the game but every last one has been different.

I have been looking over the characters and you have a lot of versatility. I hope that my character will fill in some of the small holes that are unaddressed so to speak.

He will help to fill the arcane role as a wizard and the sneaky sneak part as a rogue. Has range damage and can get right up there in the front to aid the front liners. He also has a high spell craft and Knowledge Arcana. The character can also make due with other spells by way of UMD. A high perception and the ability to deal with magical traps should come in use at sometime. He can fit the role of scout, magical adviser or even a slightly less damage fighter.

I am not done working out the kinks in the character just yet so there may be more. It is a work in progress.

Hitpoints: 4d8 ⇒ (7, 3, 5, 7) = 22

I did not see any but I could have missed this...
Are you in need of Rogue skills like character...Traps sneaky sneaky type. Just thought I would ask.

Dotting
Will adjust this character soon.

Almost finished...need to adjust equipment, encumbrance and background a bit.

Hp 2: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Hp 3: 1d8 ⇒ 1 (average it is then)
Hp 4: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Will adjust soon

I am going to withdraw from this. I just am not getting as much time as I would like to finish the character to what I want. Good luck to everyone.

I am not finished adjusting the character. Trying to fit time in as I unpack from the move. Kids just will not give me time to do a lot as they want to climb into each and every box.

I am not complete with this character but this should give you a general idea. Looking at the sneaky down and dirty type of Halfling that knows who is who and where to go to get this or that.

I will adjust soon and thank you for running this.

So....I want to make sure I get this correctly.
Illusion spells which are magic have no effect if the target succeeds in saving against it but if they fail they still are unaffected by it because they are intelligent. Plus the party that I have been traveling with and knows that I cast illusions spells and are intelligent as well do not get the same intelligence benefits as the enemies.

So not only are my spells ineffective against....all are enemies but my own party is the only ones that are being effected by my spells.

OK.......
I get it.
I do not like to do this but I can not see this changing in the future.
I really did enjoy creating this character but am having less and less fun actually playing the character. I wish everyone luck in the game but I will be dropping from the game after this encounter is over.

Oh the joys of illusions. hehe
It really sucks being an illusionist in KM lol
I am laughing at all the spells I have that can do nothing against any of the creatures we have encountered...(So far) I am having fun but my choice was a poor one..lol This is all me and not in any way a reflection of the DM. I look forward to the time when I can cast a spell at a enemy and have it work.

Male Halfling Unchained Rogue 5/Dark Delver 2 HP:57/57 AC:15 FF:15 T:12 AC(MA):19 AC(SH):19 AC(MA+SH): 23 F:5 R:10 W:5 Perc:+15 Init: +10

Is it possible to move around and let them be until we are ready to deal with them....If not I have a spell that may or may not work on plants. I would conjure an image of something harmful to the plants that surrounds it. If my spell is strong enough to take hold of them then they will feel the pain of the illusion as if it were real. It is a long shot at best but I have nothing that will do physical harm to them.

Sounds good, let us keep our voices down and let me take point. I say we keep it simple..clockwise around the outside and...like Hrungnir said, we move on the center then.

Before moving off to his left, he quietly cast a spell on himself to help protect him from danger.

Zily bar looks at the dwarf and smiles...
you do know that you are taller than me....right? Very well I will take care of the trap.

Bending down and looking at the wire from one side to the other. He pulls forth a small pouch from inside his shirt. He lays it down on the ground and unravels it to reveal several different tools...Files, picks of all sizes and shapes, narrow-bladed scissors, several pliers, long hooks, short hooks, key extractor, vials, saw blades, tension wrenches and several other tools that are unknown to the casual eye. He follows the wire to the wall, raping gently on the wall as he lets his eyes roam toward a spot about three feet off the ground. He stares at it for some time before he pulls forth a tool and inserts it into the wall at several different angels. At one point he sticks the first tool into the wall and lets it remain there. Reaching back for another tool, he continues to manipulate the tools back and forth until he hears a slight click. He slowly pulls the tools back out and returns them to his pouch. The pouch soon disappears into his shirt.

Greeting to all,
I am giving some advanced noticed that I will be out of town for sometime on vacation. I will not have internet access for most of that time but will try to check in on the game when and if I am able to do so. Please bot me as needed.
The dates I will be out of town are June 13th till July 3rd.

Zilybar points to the ground where the tripwire is located.
It looks to drop the gate on those that trip it. We can bypass it and move on if you like. Or I can attempt to disable it

Feeling much better after the healing, Zilybar mounts up and follows the rest of the group.
Thank you kindly for the healing.

his tone is very matter of fact like.

Do they not see anything at all? It is no illusion...
Before we continue moving forward. Perhaps some healing to those that are in need of it. I for one do not wish to be a bothersome but since I am about to fall over from loss of my life's blood. I would be very much appreciate if someone knew how to stop it from flowing out of my wounds and making me weaker by the minutes.

We should try to locate this invisible pest and deal with him or it.

Zilybar looks around..
I see how it is...well two can play at this game of yours. You want the gnome...come and find me.
Zilybar lets his fingers move in a mystic pattern as his voice calls out arcane phrases of power.
Casting Invisibility
Ouch I sure hope this helps
He then moves off into a different direction to make sure it is harder for the creature to locate him.

did I speak in gnomish....it is not a well know language outside of us gnomes....
he again looked around...
ahhh..maybe they did not hear me. I should speak louder and slower. I will need to pronounce my words better so they can hear and understand me.
sorry, could not help myself Lol

He looks around one more time before.....

Zilybar steps forward...
Looking up at the group as they all talk, letting his eyes roam from one person to the next. HE clears his throat and waits for all to quiet down.
Lady Orlessia, please forgive any offense that I may cause. This is not my intent but I have some questions that are just not sitting well with me at this time. It is my hope that you will be able to help me sort out the answers.
He looks around at the tree creatures.
How can such a tree, even one that is just like any other tree that can be felled using axes and fire...how can it go unnoticed and unchallenged? Especially in a place that has a caretaker that sees and hear anything that happens in or near the forest....I understand that your grove has come under attack by something truly evil and you were not focused but that grove has been tainted by something for some time. That does not just happen overnight. It would take time for that to happen...So why was it left alone for so long?

His words come out in a soft tone that speaks of curiosity.

Male Halfling Unchained Rogue 5/Dark Delver 2 HP:57/57 AC:15 FF:15 T:12 AC(MA):19 AC(SH):19 AC(MA+SH): 23 F:5 R:10 W:5 Perc:+15 Init: +10

Zilybar slowly approaches that felled tree. He looks at the dwarf and then at each of his other companions.
Well that is done. Let us collect what we have found and get back to the those that hold our people.

Looking down at the tree, he picks out some of the wood to take with him. A chuck that is about the size of a spellbook and a wand sized branch.
Never know what these could do....

@GM The first encounter was with the old GM and it was a swarm creature. My illusions seem to not work. The second encounter was with you and once again my spell does not work..LOL...choosing to be a specialist in illusion...well i chose poorly...LOL
It is ok, no problems. I just hope to have at least a spell from my specialty work against an enemy. Just once.

Male Halfling Unchained Rogue 5/Dark Delver 2 HP:57/57 AC:15 FF:15 T:12 AC(MA):19 AC(SH):19 AC(MA+SH): 23 F:5 R:10 W:5 Perc:+15 Init: +10

Zilybar watches as the tree walks right through his spell.
Well that went splendidly...
This is a bit disconcerting, I have had only two encounters with this character in this game and both have been immune to my spells...lol This is not a good start.

He steps off to the side but still well out of reach of the tree.
Let us see you walk through this one.
Pulling forth a dart, a green leaf and a long orange fleshy looking squash, Zilybar let his finger move in precise fashion. Tracing arcane patterns as he mutters mystic words. The The items are wrapped around the dart so much that it does not appeared to be a dart that will travel more than five feet. It barley resembles that ranged weapon anymore. He pulls his hand back to throw the dart as the arcane energies build up around the projectile. His hand shoots forward and dart does not go anywhere, it just remains in his hand. The items that he wrapped around it turned into a arrow of their own. A arrow that is made of green liquid.
Casting Acid Arrow it will last for one more round.

Range Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
