This thread has a couple comments that indicate that a prototype "support portal" page is still active

Steve Geddes wrote:

They were trialling a support portal a few years back (a couple of my tickets were run through there as a test).

Maybe they left the website up even if it never got formally rolled out?

I'm guessing they're not using the portal anymore but you can still see it at:

Can't wait!

That sounds marvelous!

I'd like to suggest that you also create a sound product for the Beginner Box. Folks learning to GM could really use that kind of aid.

Welcome!
And, Welcome Back!

Both Firefox and Edge have lost most page formatting.

I'm only seeing long lines of text links strung down the left margin, and there's a new layout on the forum pages.

Bids start at $400,000 -- Will Lisa add it to her collection?

Red Leader Model Auction

Quote:

A miniature model called "Red Leader", a X-wing starfighter from the 1977 film, Star War, Episode IV, A New Hope, sits on display at Heritage Auctions, Thursday, Aug. 30, 2023, in Irving, Texas.

A fabled Star Wars prop that featured in the Death Star explosion scene in the first of the original movies is being auctioned off, with a starting bid price of $400,000.

The model is an X-wing Starfighter, one of four used in the 1977 movie "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope."

Long considered the holy grail for collectors of Star Wars memorabilia, the model was assumed for decades to be lost. However, it was recently found among the belongings of late modelmaker Greg Jein, whose collection is being auctioned off in mid-October.

The auction page shows 32 days left to bid. That would be October 14,2023.

Expect apparel designs from our very own art team, tote bags, and more in the future!

Yes!!!

And can someone figure out a way to sell ORC supporter t-shirts that fund some good projects?

All y'all did a splendid job on this book!

Thanks for putting all this in one place.

I was attempting to change the quantity of Beginner Box dice sets that I had in my cart.

I put my cursor in the quantities box, changed the 1 to a 5, and hit enter. That cleared all the items from my cart, and did not put them in the Saved Items page.

If I scroll to the bottom of the cart, and use the "change quantities" button, the cart does not empty.

My problem is that I had a long list of items in my cart, and I could not see the "change quantities" button on the page. So I just "entered" the changed quantity, and erased the whole page.

I'm able to replicate this. (Windows 11, Firefox, both up to date)

Woot!

Pathfinder 2 is being "remastered" to remove material licensed under the OGL.
Here's the list of creatures from the November 2020 print edition. Some of these are likely to be WotC intellectual property that will not carry over to Paizo materials published under the ORC license.

They will all still be playable, and the Beginner Box is still completely compatible with the remastered rules. In fact, I expect that, with the exception of a few nostalgic creatures on this list, most of the BB ruleset is already free of OGL material.

Creatures:

Animated Armor
Basilisk
Boar
Bugbear Marauder
Cat, Leopard
Centipede, Giant
Doppelganger
Dragon, Wyrmling Green
Drow Warrior
Drow Priestess
Drow Sneak
Elemental, Brine Shark
Elemental, Cinder Rat
Elemental, Sod Hound
Elemental, Zephyr Hawk
Gargoyle
Ghost Commoner
Ghoul
Goblin Commander
Goblin Igniter
Goblin Warrior
Gremlin, Pugwampi
Harpy
Hell Hound
Hobgoblin Warrior
Kobold Dragon Mage
Kobold Scout
Kobold Trapmaster
Kobold Warrior
Mimic
Ogre Warrior
Ooze, Sewer
Orc Commander
Orc Scrapper
Orc Trooper
Owlbear
Rat, Giant
Shadow
Skeleton Guard
Skeleton, Skeletal Giant
Snake, Giant Viper
Snake, Viper
Spider, Giant
Troll
Web Lurker
Wight
Wolf
Xulgath Boss
Xulgath Warrior

It would be helpful to me if Paizo did a better job of cross-marketing Paizo products in the webstore.

For example, it is only in the past couple years that the product blurbs for quests, scenarios, and adventures have started including links to the maps used in that story.

When I was trying to pick up all the PF2 Kingmaker products, there was no product listing that provided a link to the pawns, the companion guide, the item cards, the management screen, etc.

The same holds true for setting books and rule books. There is, for example, a box of spell cards (Secrets Of Magic Spell Cards) that is no where mentioned on the product page for the hardcover (Secrets Of Magic Rulebook)

The newly-announced Rage of Elements Spell Cards are invisible if you only visit the rulebook page

It seems like a simple way to promote related products, but obviously is not the norm. I don't know what purpose such modesty serves, but it seems like time to re-evaluate that rule.

[I'm especially hoping that map pages get cross-linked to the products they are used in.]

For everyone bemoaning the archaic infrastructure of the Paizo website:

San Francisco Subway Runs On Floppies

Our train control system in the Market Street subway is loaded off of five-and-a-quarter inch floppy drives,” SFMTA director Jeffrey Tumlin told KQED’s Priya David Clemens this week.

Not even the 3.5 version, but the even more floppy 5.25 type.

I've started a thread in the PF2 General Discussion forum to collect information about playing PF2 with kids.

Please add your ideas there
PF2 For Kids

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Because there is no forum that is particularly relevant to questions about playing with kids, I thought I'd create an onging thread to collect advice.

The Beginner Box forum has some relevant advice threads for getting started with the Beginner Box adventure "Menace Under Otari". It also has threads about the stand alone adventure "Troubles In Otari".

There are also scattered threads, like this one in the Online Play "Scenario Recommendations For Library Program, looking for advice about players age 10 and up.

With new GMs and players rapidly joining this community, it might be useful to collect advice about how to get started with PF2 if your players are kids.

Obviously, 'kids' could be a wide range of ages, and their experience and background with ttRPGs is going to be just as wide. When you make suggestions, please indicate what audience your advice is addressed to: experienced adult GMs; inexperienced adult GMs; experienced players; inexperienced players, and whether the advice is for home games or games in monitored public settings like schools and libraries.

If theres a good thread in some other forum, please link it here for reference.

The most common advice is to start with the Beginner Box (Menace Under Otari); move on to the "Troubles In Otari" adventure, and finally begin the "Abomination Vaults" Adventure Path which may not always be appropriate for younger players.

There are also sugestions for PFS scenarios that are ways to introduce Pathfinder Society.

And there used to be a "Kids Track" in PFS, but it seems to have been abandoned. Any suggestions from that era would also be appreciated.

The stand-alone adventure Troubles In Otari, provides the advancement information necessary to take characters created using the Beginner Box rules from Level 3 to Level 4.

While not part of the Beginner Box material, pages 56-59 are formatted identically to the advancement pages in the Hero's Handbook, and allow a final, fourth level of play before a player needs to switch to a standard character sheet, and the full rules in the Core Rulebook.

The entire adventure can be played using only the BB Hero's Handbook and the Game Master's Guide.

I've been working with a group of new players who are struggling with the BB rules, but are still interested in playing more stories set in Golarion.

I'd like to play some extremely short adventures (scenarios, bounties, quests) that will help them become familiar with the Pathfinder Society (but not necessarily organized play).

They like the idea of PFS being like an Edwardian Explorer's Club, but not so much as militaristic endeavor. So groups of competitors yes, but not necessarily enduring evil organizations as opponents.

Which published material would help them engage with the Society in-world, on these terms? I'm hoping for material for Level 1-4 characters.

I have the LO: Pathfinder Society Guide, but that's way over their heads in terms of useability. I'm willing* to go back to PF1 and re-stat the traps/monsters/puzzles if there's something useful in the earlier publications.

Thanks for any suggestions!

*but obviously would prefer not to

What if:
An AI was trained using all of Paizo's art assets, and then was made available on the Paizo site so that we could create our own avatars (and export them to other sites) by giving the app our preferred parameters from the character creation options?

They've figured out how to keep their posts visible!!

https://paizo.com/threads/rzs43o7e?Hello-I-need-a-casino-with-bonuses

Person one posts the original post, with a provocative headline.
https://paizo.com/people/lolita2342

Person two replies to the OP with the spam message
https://paizo.com/people/Ambrate

If staff only remove the OP, then both the headline and the spam post itself remain visible.

Staff have repeatedly asked forum members not to reply to spam posts because it is more difficult to remove replies and (apparently) can't easily be done by lower level IT folks.

From the linked FAQ

Quote:

How do I cancel a subscription?

Just contact our customer service department at customer.service@paizo.com or call us at (425) 250-0800. Please note: if we have already started to process your next shipment, we may not be able to stop it.

Does this mean that the Customer Service phone is operational again?

Also, I see no mention of the grandfathered Paizo Advantage. Is this no longer in effect?

tabletop designers rally to support trans kids in Texas

Quote:

One of those people is creator Rue Dickey, who has begun to organize a bundle of tabletop role playing games (TTRPGs) which will be sold for $5 on digital games marketplace itch.io. What this means is that a huge amount of games—at this point, Dickey estimates that they will be able to offer around 250 games at the current rate of submission—including PDFs and .TXT documents of core books, supplements, lyric games, and small single-player games, will be made available at a massively discounted price. Typically on itch.io, the profits from the sale of these games would go directly to the publisher of the game, but with the bundling option that is built into the itch.io system, money can be collected and sent to charities. In this case, Dickey will split the money between Transgender Education Network of Texas and Organización Latina Trans Texas.

After putting a call out on Twitter, Dickey has received an overwhelmingly positive response, with many transgender game designers and their allies donating games to the bundle, which is still receiving submissions.

How will Paizo be supporting this industry effort?

I'm seeing a new layout for the black header at the top of the page. In that version, there are no words, just a white hamburger in the upper right corner.

To get to my messages, I not only have to click the hamburger icon, but I have to then click "My Account".

Apparently we will no longer be able to see if we have new messages without drilling down two layers of menus. And even if it's retained as a red dot on the "My Account" icon, that's still hidden, and I'd have to continually click the hamburger to find out if I had new messages.

Since I assume this is a test (I'm seeing the old menu when I log in on a different computer) let me be the first to request that you put some kind of indicator beacon that gives a notification about new messages on all pages, not just buried under the hamburger menu

ETA after testing:
Nope, no indicator on the header; red dot has disappeared from the My Account icon; and you have to go three levels down just to see if you have a message.

Not good.
