Friday and Saturday I did a Battlestar Galactica Board Game tournament. I managed the distinguished position of last place in the game, while my friend took second and best roleplayer. But hey, it's about the journey, and I had a lot of fun!!
Picked up the RotRL card adventure game and tried that out. Looks enjoyable but might be a while before I can play with others again.
Also tried out a game called Fiasco. That was interesting. It's a storytelling game where people have to make connections with each other, and everyone takes turns developing the story as you go. I'm told it takes after a Cohen's brothers heist movie, but my movie knowledge is rather lacking (they named about a dozen movies, all of which I haven't seen, lol).
I'll be attending Gencon next week from the 14th to the 18th. During this time I'll pretty much be not checking the forums with any sort of regularity. I apologize in advance for this! Please feel free to bot me as necessary during that time to allow the game to continue.
I plan to use the Xzot alias for the character. At this point I'm short Traits, Equipment, and a Polished background. I'll try to have traits up shortly, equipment I won't be able to finish until I get home later today.
Question of my own. What is your opinoin on inter-relating backgrounds between characters accepted? Should we attempt to include some familiarity, or keep it separate?
I'm about 96.2% certain I'll be going Bard at this point, just to help clarify. I've been looking at archetypes but I just don't see anything that grabs me.
My thoughts are that I've been in Sharn since around the end of the Last War, so about 2 years if I recall. (Going off memory, so if I say something erroneous, let me know, I'm trying to locate my Eberron books, recently moved).
I'm thinking I worked for a variety of countries, playing that information off each other. I figure towards the end, I somehow screwed up big time and ended up nearly getting caught, causing the crafted identities to suddenly no longer be viable. No particular allegiance to any.
I'm probably still in the secret business, though I try to keep it more low key.
My current thinking is running a spy from during the last war. Specifically one who had a persona for several different individuals (often enough even for the same side). The information obtained I would then sell to those who would most benefit my coinpurse. Probably quite a bit of blood on my hands.
When the last war came to an end, I found myself quickly out of employement. Having lived a high profile life up to that point, plus the expenses of maintaining multiple identities, found myself needing an out. So I scrapped my former identities and began anew in Sharn. At this point, I'm thinking of going with a freelance inquisitive to make ends meet.
I'm here today, but leave tomorrow morning for Gencon. I doubt my ability to post while at the Con (mostly because of monopolized time rather than internet access), and will be back next Monday. During that time feel free to NPC me. I'll have my post up for this combat momentarily.
In regards to my spotty posting, as I had stated earlier I'm currently on a work trip since the 31st. It's actually taking alot more time than I thought, so not having as much free time to post. I\ve been trying to get a post in here and there but just don't have the time at present. I do have tomorrow and Tuesday off though so will get posts in the next two days. After that I'll be working until the 13th, which is mostly a travel day. The 14th I have off again which means I can maintain posting then, but after I'll be at Gencon and doubt I'll have any time to post. Sorry for this inconvenience.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As far as plans go, Xzot's fine with waiting until tomorrow. It doesn't like it at all, but Xzot won't try to go it alone, especially after our initial fight from the crash.
Always looking forward to it! I think I've only missed one Gencon since they moved to Indy. Only signed up for two Pathfinder events this year though, one society, and some charity event.
Just giving you a heads-up that at the end of this month (July 31), I'll be leaving town for two weeks for work. I don't know the status of an available internet connection while I'll be gone, or how much free time I'll have, but I'll post as able.
After that, I'll only be back for a day before heading to Gencon afterwards, getting back home late the 19th. So between those two dates I'll be sporadic at best, possibly unavailable. Sorry for any inconveniences this may impose.
You don't need a venture captain to run a legit PFS game. It doesn't even need Herald level gm status like RPGA did. Anyone can do it as long as you follow the guidelines. And yes the ones ran here are legit as well. It's just the campaign log will be scanned and emailed to the recipient.
Three actually. A First Steps game, and 2 Way of the Wicked games. One of the Way of the Wicked's lost a couple players though and they're currently being replaced.
Well, Lady Jenise's stated purpose (aka cover story) is that she was coming to perform research, flora/fauna/mapping type stuff. It's quite possible she hired you on as a 'bodyguard' for such a trip. She is giving off the feeling of being a delicate lady.
Lothar and DM:
It's quite possible she would drop hints to her own 'employers' though she doesn't go into details.
Hiring on works out good, really, I'd be fine with that. I doubt I would've shared my real identity at this point, but it establishes a better connection between PCs.
Figured I'd ask, as far as dice rolls go. I tend to spoiler them to they don't take up a bunch of post space, but it can make it hard to find them at times as well. What's your preference on this, if I may ask?
Generally I work second shift, central time. At work I do have access to the interwebz, but my access is sporadic at best. We just came down from our slow period though, so as time progesses I will be working more and more hours up until next Christmas.
As far as HP goes, Ranger uses a d10, so 10 + 4.5 + 4.5 + 3 con was how I figured it for 22. I put the Favored Class bonus into skill points for the two rogue levels. Is that acceptable?
@ Mark Thomas 66: Either is fine. Any fellow candidates have an opinion?
I have a personal dislike of the Cavalier, and love the Magus, so I'm biased. I just love Spellcasters, and have had bad experiences with the Cavalier (No, you can't take your horse to the Ball. No, not even as your +1!).
Ignore the crunch (don't rememter what it was at this point), I just like the name and wasn't accepted in a previous Eberron campaign.
I was thinking Changling Spymaster. Background wise, a spy for hire, someone who crafts numerous identities for themselves, complete with backstory and mannerisms. I figured it wouldn't even remember who he/she was anymore so confused by the identities it has assumed over the years, and maybe now is trying to learn who it is.
Crunch wise not certain yet how to pull it off right. I think Spymaster is the right prestige class for what I'm going for, but will have to look into building it if selected.
Going to be starting up some stats for a changeling rogue, figured I'd post the character here and will reply again when it's done. I'll also be stating up a bard version on a physical sheet in case someone else makes a trapper.
