This thread is for OOC discussion only. If you're a spectator, and you're enjoying the campaign, you may say "hi." If spectator chatter becomes significant or problematic, I'll make a new thread just for that.
Feel free to strategize out-of-character, here. FYI, I am a "lethal GM" only in that I don't fudge rolls. Ever.
Tread carefully and play smart! As soon as you guys get your party cohesion groove-on, I encourage you to take the campaign in the direction that you choose.
Good luck, all!

Well, Lady Jenise's stated purpose (aka cover story) is that she was coming to perform research, flora/fauna/mapping type stuff. It's quite possible she hired you on as a 'bodyguard' for such a trip. She is giving off the feeling of being a delicate lady.

Dazzled only applies to attack rolls and sight-based Perception checks. You can add the -1 to your own attack rolls, and on Perception checks that you know are sight-based (like an active Perception check that you make to search an area).
In general, everyone should apply their own modifiers when they can.

@ Everyone: To those of you who want to or plan to "forecast" your combat actions in advance (say, if you won't be able to post for a few hours, but you want to move the combat along), that's fine. Be as specific as you like.
I'll stick to your "script," and make very basic judgement calls (unless instructed not to). However! If some significant part of the combat changes, I'm going to hold off until you check in and take your action or "update" your actions. Because I play a RAW, PC-centric game in which PC death is entirely possible, I don't want to take chances with your actions.
For example, if SuperUberGeek tells me he's going to focus fire on the enemy wizard and let Flametouched and Ormak engage the enemy fighter... I'm not going to simply "stick to the script" if a pair of enemy rogues comes out of invisibility, flanking poor Xzot. An event like that is likely to change Lothar's priorities in combat (and everyone elses'). In that case, I would hold Lothar's actions until he could make time to post his own.
Unless of course Lothar's "instructions" included a contingency plan for the appearance of new opponents. Like I said, be as specific as you like.

@ Shisumo - Correct, as are your hit points. If I think of it, I might make mention of your damage reduction when describing a landing blow, but ultimately your abilities are your responsibilities.
@ Everyone - A quick note about "GM rolls." I'm going to do this the way I do it at home. Monsters initiative scores and damage rolls will be called out, (modifiers shown).
Other rolls (attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, etc.) will be rolled on the table, and I will apply the modifiers in my head and announce the results.
In other words, you get to see what the monsters roll... you get to see the results... but you don't get to see the totals. You'll never know exactly what a monster's Reflex modifier is, for example, but you'll know that it's high if it saves with a low roll.
EDIT: A side note - I will call out the names of feats as they are used. This does not include entirely "passive" feats like Dodge and Weapon Focus. However, I will specify when a monster is using Power Attack, Vital Strike, Manyshot, etc.

@ Everyone: One last thing, if it even needs to be said.
Go ahead and take your turns as they come up, when you can. If Player 1 attacks and misses (hitting an AC that is clearly a miss), or casts a defensive spell, and his turn is over, you can go ahead and take your turn without any prompting from me.
Do not take your turn if Player 1 attacks and hits (or thinks he might have), casts a spell that requires a save from an NPC or monster, etc.
As always, you can forecast your actions any time you like.

Action Point Reminder
Hey, just wanted to remind everyone about Action Points while we wait for Ormak.
If you're not familiar with Action Points, they are basically "floating" d6 rolls that you can apply to any ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. You can apply an Action Point after rolling, but only before you know the result of your roll.
You can also use an Action Point to automatically stabilize, when dying.
At third level, you have one Action Point per day (we are using per-day Action Point rules, not the default rules). You'll gain a second Action Point when you hit level 8, or when you take the Heroic Spirit feat.
You can use two Action Points to take an extra move action, or to use another instance or round of a per-day class or character ability (an extra round of rage, an extra channel energy, etc.)
I'm sure most of you know this already, but I know at least one of you is relatively new to Eberron.
Just make sure to declare your Action Points before you're told the result of the roll you'd like to apply it to.
@ Nark Snarky: Just to be clear, you cannot spend Action Points on the behalf of animal companions or familiars (or NPCs, planar allies, summoned monsters, etc.).
It's largely a moot point as I'll be taking control of Lony's actions in combat. It'll speed up combat (I can post fairly often), and he is an NPC. Remember that you can make Handle Animal checks on your turn (or out of combat) to influence his behavior, if you like.
Outside of combat, you should continue to direct Lony as you wish (including initiative rolls and making rolls for any actions Lony takes as directed by your out-of-combat Handle Animal checks).
Nark Snarky |
since I would like to sleep and taking a lot of time, I will post my actions beforehand.
@Garden Tool: Nark will take a 5´feet step away and attack with his sling against nearest creature he can see in the first round. [5 feet step to BH 41]
2 round: Nark looks around to notice what is going and focuses on his own survivability but tries to help Lady Jennifer. Keep shooting at the nearest creature
Lony he would like to keep close and guard against the creatures
EDIT: realised that the creature is threatening both Nark and Xzort so removed the if yes/no option
EDIT 2: @ Garden Tool: saw what you wrote in the game. If possible, I would like to keep the rolls made here and apply them in the IC thread for attacking / changing to spell if necessary (changing the modifiers accordingly)
Garden Tool |
@ Ormak Kron: If you're still up, make your Reflex save, then go ahead and take Nark's turn for him, since you go next. (don't forget about your free Handle Animal action). I'm not sure which target Nark would call "closest," and both targets would incur the -4 "firing into melee" penalty.
If you're not still up, we'd just be waiting on you instead of waiting on Nark, so I might as well let Nark take his turn tomorrow (and give you and Xzot a chance to make your saves before then, so everyone can act accordingly).

Given that a 15 apparently hits these things and Xzot's getting the snot pounded out of hir, I'm inclined to go into barbarian mode rather than cast bless, but I'm open to pleas to the contrary if someone really thinks the +1 hit is going to help. Right now, though, I'm likely to do a 5 ft step away from the worm attacking me and try to finish the nearer of the two attacking hir.
Lothar Noson |
@Flametouched I think that kind of stratagy should be handled here on the duscusion. Gardentool has already said he (assuming the GM is a he) does not mind us talking stratagy here.
In response to your question I woukd say if I put him out then try to get yourself put out. You are our tank. It would be best if Nark is able to heal Ormac. I hope to start pumping up the damage next round and plan on rolling better
