Woot, discussion of the new Starship Combat roles on Starfinder Wednesday!

Apples are delicious.

Mild Season Two Spoilers:
One of our foes sure likes taking bites out of them and carelessly leaving cores around. It's starting to make me wonder if there is anything magical or technological that we could do to track that person using their DNA. Or perhaps we should contact the main vendors who do expensive catering with fruit and track her that way. This might even get easier if she has a particular variety of apple that she loves. Castrovellian cuties? Triaxian dragoncrisps? Arkanen ampere apples? There aren't that many worlds in the Pact that support apple orchards, so apples are likely an expensive import item in most places.

I have two characters now who want to be more proactive about taking the apple out of her eye. I sure hope that we can start taking the initiative here.

★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★

However, apples can be a fairly pricey habit. An apple a day makes Starfinders slay.

Hmm

PS This post will make more sense as you play Season 2.

Do we know yet whether OrgPlay playtesting will be handled like COM playtesting was in Starfinder? I really liked being able to create our own temporary Playtest pregens, and would like to be able to do so again!

“Hello Starfinders and other Sentients!” The most famous host in the Pact Worlds comes on to the stage, stepping into the spotlight.

“These are exciting times! As you all know, we have an important election coming up which we will determine not only your new first seeker, but also your future path as a Society. I volunteered to host the first debate as winner-take-all death match, but Star Daddy said that these matters are usually decided by voting. Zo! sighs dramatically, which is a fascinating feat for someone incapable of respiration. Then he raises a bony finger. “But how can we step forward to the future without knowing a little about the past? Who were some of previous First Seekers? What is your history as a Society?”

Zo! saunters up to a giant viewscreen. “While we’re impatiently waiting to meet our candidates, let’s have a review, shall we?”

★--- ★ --- ★ --- ★

Present Day First Seekers

  • Luwazi Elsebo, "A New Way Forward!" A savvy human female leader with impeccable taste in allies. Under her leadership, you prevented me from being bombed, so I of course approve. She’s also the badass champion who rescued Starfinders from the Scoured Stars and helped you all rebuild.

  • Jadnura, "Leading the Charge!" So he doesn’t have much in brains, but check out that style! He’s an athletic male kasatha who enjoys scuffles with dinosaurs and then meditating with a quiet cup of tea afterwards. He led you to explore the Scoured Stars -- and get trapped there, but without my film crews so all that drama was totally wasted. However, once rescued, he turned out to be a standup guy. He worked hard to support the goal of uniting the society, and actually worked with his successor.

    ★--- ★ --- ★ --- ★

    Some Historical First Seekers

  • Ilyastre. No personal data known, but the First Seeker Ilyastre Memorial museum is a major Lorespire tourist attraction. You know what it needs to liven it up, though? A theater, showing views of Live Action Extreme and Pact World Warriors!

  • Lezosk, Slogan unknown.

    SFS 1-08:
A portrait found on Arniselle showed he was an intense ysoki in military uniform. About 150 years ago was a time known as the "Time of Uncertainty." First Seeker Lezosk took command of the Society during the later end of this troubled time and was responsible for various reforms. That all seems a bit noble and yawn-worthy until you realize that Lezosk's last known act was to construct the Perplexity, a mysterious and deadly proving ground that exists to this day on the grounds of the Lorespire Complex. And you all call me extreme!

  • Lanrah, No personal data known other than her gender.

    SFS 1-25:
In 160 AG, the Starfinder Society Forum elected Lanrah to the position of First Seeker. Lanrah made it her mission to solve the Gap. The results of this unachievable mission were disastrous for the Society, and after only 2 years, Lanrah had expended much of the Society's capital and resources in foolish missions that cost the lives of countless Starfinder field agents. Her death saw the coming of a tumultuous time for the Society, which took the organization almost 10 years to fully recover from. She was a gal after my own heart!

  • Roheas, No personal data known. Roheas, a First Seeker from early in the Society's existence, was focused on making the most of available resources, protecting pre-Drift civilizations, and later on, starship advancements. I like them mainly because they spent so much time upgrading the Starfinder fleet, which gave you all better ships to explore the unknown with, and to use to blow up space sharks. Ba-ba-boom!

I'm glad we finally get to see an avian race to play with in addition to having Sazaron and Dirindi to round out the common Pact Worlds races (outside of some missing children of Golarion).

Really excited to see how the Sazaron look as well as dig in and see some of the other races.

One deliberate design choice that I find interesting is that 2e has made it harder to communicate across linguistic barriers.

What I have noticed so far:

    1) Magical means of communication are much reduced:

  • Share Language is gone.
  • Comprehend language is a second level spell, and only by heightening it to 3rd can you actually speak the language.
  • Tongues is a fifth level spell, and uncommon to boot.

    2) Non-magical means of communication are much reduced:

  • Society Skill allows learning languages only through the multi-lingual feat.
  • Society Skill only allows you to decipher languages in writing, not speech.
  • The only way to create pidgin tongues is through a 15th level feat, Legendary Linguist.

    3) There is no reduction in the sheer number of languages in the world.

There are so many languages, and we travel to so many places.

    ★ --- ★ --- ★ --- ★

If we can't communicate, we're going to be fighting more often, and having trouble making new friends and allies.

I think we're all going to be hiring a lot of translators. As someone who is used to hearing the patterns in a new language and deciphering it quickly to communicate, this feels way too high level. Will the society be offering guidance for hiring translators or getting translator ally boons? I realize that one of my first actions as a society member in a new area will be looking for a hireling who speaks the local language and my own. Being proactive about hiring translators and guides may be the best solution.

The religion chapter of the 2E core rulebook defines what alignments PF2 gods accept in their followers, and there were some surprises there for me.

Abadar -- Only lawful alignments, which makes sense, given how that deity interacts with the world. I like this change, since I don't think Abadar is impressed with neutral people.

Asmodeus -- Lawful Evil only. This was my biggest surprise. No more lawful neutral Asmodean Advocates in PFS for now. (I'll miss them, because they were always interesting to have at the table. Barristers, go apply to Abadar and Torag!)

Lamashtu -- Chaotic Evil only. No more mother of monster midwives in society, folks. Take your midwives and go apply to Pharasma.

Norgorber -- You want an evil god in Society? This is one of your two options. He accepts N followers in his Reaper of Reputation aspect.

Urgathoa -- The Pallid Princess only accepts evil followers now.

Zon-Kuthon -- The other evil god still legal in Society play, provided you are Lawful Neutral.

    Hello Sentients!

You should know that there are 2-3 reserved seats at this table. They've been reserved for cool people, some of whom are new to PBP. The rest of the seats will be filled with -- well, potentially, you. I reserve the right to pick characters any way I want to for this game. I might pick them to balance talents at the table, or just to get players that I think might be good with a group with a significant number of new players.

    Still Interested?

Great! I plan to make decisions by July 16th or even sooner if I get enough good people!

My skittermander, Xeeter, is a professional card dealer from the Vestrani Gaming Complex in the Solar Archipelago, Verdeon. Since Verdeon is filled with gorgeous floating gardens, I figured that my little skittermander works as a card dealer there in the evenings so that he can have his days free communing with the some of the most spectacular gardens in the Pact Worlds. Plus he worships Oras, and I feel that the randomness of both evolution and card games appeal to him on some level, and that he sees a synergy between the two.

But I am having trouble figuring out my theme for this guy. Xenowarden, Xenoseeker and Biotechnician are nice, but I don't want one of the obvious Xenodruid themes here. Same deal with Priest. Yep, he worships Oras... but I don't think I need to dive into the priest theme for this little guy. Themes are where I pull out the twist that nails the character and makes him really interesting to me.

So... What should be his theme? Should I go Solar Disciple? That seems more Sareraenite than Orasian. I'm looking for some suggestions that can give me a better idea of who this little guy is.

So my boyfriend Bret and I were known for coming to PFS games with paired builds that had shared story, purpose and goals, and that together helped balance a table.

This hasn't happened in SFS so far because the two of us have been GMing so often! But now that Season 2 of SFS is fast approaching, we finally have both a Ryphorian (from playing SFS) and a Dragonkin boon (from GMing a convention online) and we've decided that it's finally time to build a shared pair.

We already know some of our pair's crunch.

Bret's Dragonkin is going to be an Exo-Cortex Melee Mechanic -- basically, a skilled fighter. In Starship Combat, an engineer or science officer.

My Ryphorian is going to be a geneturge mystic, either summer born or transitional, with a bit of a rebellious streak. In Starship Combat, I'm aiming for gunner because I have a mystical systems boon.

    ★ --- ★ --- ★ --- ★

But great characters are built not on crunch, but on story. I will never play these characters if I cannot grasp who they are and where they came from and what makes them pop -- and I am drawing a blank.

This is a rarity for me, but I'm hoping that some of you folks will have ideas that will help me spark off ideas of my own. There are so many interesting places in Triaxus to be from:

Cumo, capitol of black market trading and smuggling!

    Ning, a wonderful merchant paradise.

    Preita, a cut-throat graduate school!

Sephorian Archipelago, home to top-secret research teams that when their project is over, are magically banned from ever speaking of their work...

Or perhaps one of the Allied Territories that is being ravaged by Dragon Corps wars...

I'm looking for ideas. Help! Help!

Back when they started with level one character creation, my players decided that they all wanted to be a traveling heavy metal band. They named their group, We Ate Golarian. Even the Solarian has spent precious skill points on Profession Musician, and upgraded his instruments. We have arranged to have a plot-appropriate major rock concert in every book of the AP so far. I have no idea how I will fit a rock concert into Book 5, but hey... There's got to be an opportunity, right?

Early on, they had a concert where they met Zo! The Pact Worlds's most famous vidshow host took a shine to them, and introduced them to the Eoxian Ambassador, and has had regular appearances in my game while they were still in the Pact Worlds. Zo! has been both mentor and comic relief all through this A.P.

When they visited Eox, they learned about a Battle of the Bands gameshow (because one of my players claimed to see an advert for it, and I loved the idea). They then demanded that Zo! enroll them as contestants. It was ONLY the threat of the impending destruction of the Pact Worlds from a super weapon that dragged them from this idea... Zo! told them that if they saved his production studio from armageddon, they were badass enough to be on his show.

I want to create the whole Eoxian Idol experience -- interviews, back stage shenanigans, skill challenges, RP challenges and some sonic battles with angsty creatures from the abyss. I intend to use some of the SFS adventures 'Live Exploration Extreme!' and 'Star Sugar Heartlove!!!' for inspiration and setting material.

I'd love suggestions and scheming for this, which will be the capstone to our Dead Suns tour. We're just about to enter Book 5 so I have a couple months to plan this out.

Poshkettle Tea proudly presents a campaign mode, play-by-post run of Against the Aeon Throne. I've been having such fun with this campaign and my players so far. Yes, they are flying a ship named The Teapot that is full of squox kits because housekeeping skittermander player decided that Cedona's squox, Cubber, had babies. We also have a prince, a spy, two academics, a brain-damaged skyfire centurion who is being tended by his exuberant AI, and a youthful and enthusiastic Astrozoan who just wants to make friends.

I am one of those GMs who is aching for high-level Starfinder play, but ABSOLUTELY does not want to do a corrupting horror campaign. So... I've been thinking about how to use campaign mode to offer a far less horrific version of Signal of Screams.

Player Buy-In: Obviously this would be critical. This run would need to advertised as a Campaign Mode run that is intentionally defanging horror elements and shifting the tone. That's why I am playing with the 'Signal of Scooby-Doo' name. I want it to be obvious what sort of tone I am reaching for, so that I don't recruit people who actually want the full horror.

Finding alternate challenges to the Corruption Sub-Plot. Are there tone-appropriate moral dilemmas and choices that I can find to replace the personal corruption plot line to keep things interesting for the players?

Maintaining sense of threat: I do want the players to feel challenged by the monsters and obstacles, and motivated to stop the strain from spreading.

Looking for spots where I can shift the tone and yet keep a good portion of the story: Where can I make small shifts to affect big changes in tone?

I'd be interested in the thoughts of other GMs and developers on these challenges, since I am thinking of doing this once either my Dead Suns or my Aeon Throne campaigns complete.

Against the Aeon Throne -- Campaign Mode, SFS credit

    The Adventure

Against the Aeon Throne starts out with all the characters at level one, and ends with everyone at level 6. It’s a heroic adventure with a distinctly Star Wars feel. You’ll be a thorn in the side of an evil empire!

    The Blurb wrote:
Hired to transport supplies to a fog-shrouded world in the Vast, the heroes discover that a small military force from the Azlanti Star Empire has invaded and occupied the Pact Worlds colony there. The heroes must liberate the settlement from its merciless oppressors, but when they do, they learn that the Azlanti have taken both an experimental starship drive discovered on the planet and one of the colonists—an old friend of the heroes—back to the Star Empire!

    About me as a GM

I’m an experienced Play-by-Post and Starfinder Society GM. I tend to GM one game at a time, and give it my all. As a GM, I am fast-paced and story-oriented. I reward both enthusiasm and roleplay, and love to share adventures with my players.

What can you expect from a GM Hmm game? Teamwork. Laughter. Discovery. Roleplay. Sound effects. Filks. Whimsy! I hope that you'll have a good time, get a chance to bring out your character's quirks, have good chemistry with your teammates and a chance for self-discovery.

    About this Campaign

I intend this to be a fairly fast-moving Play-by-Post, averaging 2-3 posts a day. My hope is that we will get through the entire 3-volume adventure path and have a lot of fun along the way. We’ll be doing this campaign mode, meaning that your chronicle sheets will be applied to actual Starfinder Society characters, but that there is a little more freedom for me in how the campaign is structured. There is also a little more freedom for you in creating your Campaign mode characters.

    About this Campaign Recruitment

I am not taking the first six to apply. I am going to be looking for an interesting, balanced group who wants to roleplay and who embraces the Starfinder setting. In order to achieve that balance, it’s likely that I’m going to have to reject some excellent candidates. Please do not take this personally!

Factors that make you a stronger candidate:

  • Having a solid, well-thought out character with plenty of background hooks and a great personality. I want to see a fully-filled out character sheet in your profile, as well as background and personality.
  • Having a botting spoiler on your character. Have a spoiler with dice expressions of your favorite attacks, starship combat rolls, and other talents.
  • Having a personal tie-in in your story to an android named Cedona who retired to Nakondis colony. You can build off of one of the tie-ins from the AP, or create your own.
  • Having a history of great play-by-post characters, or being brand new to PBP and very enthusiastic.
  • Being a cooperative player who helps others shine.

Some potential tie-ins to Cedona, as suggested by the AP:

    Ace Pilot:
    Spoiler:
A few years ago, you received an emergency commission from an android named Cedona. She needed quick transport into an asteroid-choked section of the Diaspora, no questions asked, and couldn't find anyone else able to navigate the complicated route quickly. Cedona was impressed with your flawless piloting and contacted you a few times for other jobs, even when another pilot would have been more convenient for her to hire.

    Bounty Hunter:

    Spoiler:
You had a high-paying job that seemed to have gone bust, as your quarry had slipped away to another planet without leaving behind any clues. You were about to admit defeat when Cedona contacted you with some information—your quarry's location. You collected your quarry and your pay without any difficulties. Cedona has provided you with unexpected but useful information from time to time ever since, and the two of you have become friends, although she hasn't ever revealed her information sources.

    Icon:

    Spoiler:
Cedona happens to be a fan of your type of performance or field of study. The android is polite and friendly, and the two of you have bonded based on her appreciation of your work. She asked that you come visit her in Madelon's Landing if you ever found yourself out in the Vast. You could tell that she didn't really think you'd find the time in your busy schedule to get out that far, and you look forward to surprising her with your presence.

    Mercenary:

    Spoiler:
You took a job a few years ago clearing some invading forces out of a ruined factory, and one of the mercenaries working alongside you was an android named Cedona. It became clear to you that she was no ordinary mercenary but was seeking a particular individual you later learned was an escaped convict. Regardless, Cedona was cool under fire and very professional, and you appreciated that. She saw the same in you, and the two of you became friends. You have an ongoing, good-natured dispute about which of you could take the other in a fight, but you've never pushed it to the test—deep down, you might worry that you'll lose.

    Outlaw:

    Spoiler:
Despite your back-alley dealings and efforts to avoid legal entanglements, you kept running into an android named Cedona. You might have thought she was a bounty hunter or a police officer, as she so frequently seemed to know where to find you, but she didn't seem interested in capturing you. She was more interested in finding out why you were charged for your crimes, and whether you had done illegal things for the right reasons. Cedona seemed to actually like you, when so many others were willing to cast you aside or turn you in, and you struck up a friendship with her. She once showed up to provide you a transit pass and fake identification documents when forces of the law were closing in on your home, and you feel like you still owe her for that.

    Priest:

    Spoiler:
Cedona was a friend of a friend whom you tended through a difficult illness. Although Cedona doesn't share your religious conviction, you learned over long hours at your mutual friend's bedside that she is a good and caring person. When your friend passed away, you and Cedona both agreed to keep in touch, but you drifted apart nonetheless. You heard she retired to an AbadarCorp colony in the Vast, and you resolved to rekindle your friendship.

    Scholar:

    Spoiler:
You attended a short series of lectures a few years ago about the business of religion, but you found the presenter's conclusions ill-founded and lacking in intellectual rigor. You met another attendee—an android named Cedona— and struck up a friendship while complaining about the lectures. Cedona was primarily interested in learning about AbadarCorp colonies; she hoped to join one of those colonies once she retired from her current job, although she didn't mention what that job was. When she was approved to join AbadarCorp's colony on Nakondis, Cedona asked you to come visit her when you could, to see “religion and business in the field.”

    Spacefarer (or Abadar Corporate Agent):

    Spoiler:
You're the reason Cedona came to Nakondis in the first place. You've been to the system before, although it seemed to have little to recommend it to anyone. Sure, Nakondis is lush with beautiful, healthy forests and thick with sparkling fog, but you aren't the sort to consider settling down on a rural planet. Your acquaintance Cedona agreed it seemed pleasant, and you weren't surprised when you heard she retired to the AbadarCorp colony there. You would like to see her life on the planet you first introduced her to.

    Xenoseeker:

    Spoiler:
You chafed at the confines of civilization in the Pact Worlds, finding your center in remote gardens or little-traveled wildernesses. On these journeys, you occasionally encountered an android named Cedona. She never told you what she did for a living, but she talked often about how she was looking forward to retirement on a wilderness planet far off in the Vast. When she was approved to join the colony on Nakondis, she invited you to a going-away party to celebrate her good fortune, and she asked that you look her up some day.

    Themeless (or Other Theme):

    Spoiler:
You were Cedona's neighbor for a few months, and she was the only person in the neighborhood you really considered a friend. She had a pet named Cubber—a vulpine creature known as a squox (see Starfinder Alien Archive 2)—that she occasionally asked you to feed while she was away for work. You never learned what Cedona did professionally, but she seemed glad to retire from it. She was happy when she told you she'd been accepted to join an AbadarCorp colony on Nakondis, although it meant she'd have to find a new home for Cubber. Whether you now own Cubber is up to you.

    Special for Starfinder Society Characters:

    Spoiler:
Fitch is a close friend of Cedona, an expert that she sometimes pulled in for mission briefings that took place in the Vast. You got to know Cedona fairly well from these briefings, and always appreciated her sense of humor and the knowledge she brought to mission briefings. You know Cedona’s not a Starfinder, but you have no idea what she actually did for a living. She was usually introduced simply as a ‘subject expert.’ Still when you saw her out and about on Absalom Station, you always had great conversations. The last time you met, she was very excited to tell you about her upcoming retirement in Nakondis, and asked you to look her up when you were there.

    CHARACTER CREATION

All characters should be 1st level, built according to the rules in the Starfinder CRB. Playtest is over, but this is campaign mode. If you have an idea for a Playtest class character, I'll consider it.

I normally request that campaign mode characters be 1st level clones of the Starfinder Society characters to which you will be applying credit, and I still enjoy seeing characters that have played a couple times already and have a strong sense of who they are. It’s also less work for you if your character is already built and going out on Starfinder missions.

There are some advantages in this campaign to at least looking human. However, if you have a vibrant idea for a character of a race not currently allowed in Starfinder Society, feel free to submit it. I will tell you straight up that Azlanti subject races will be a hard sell -- but if you have an amazing idea for a character from an escaped Azlanti slave race, by all means share it. I will not be impressed by strange races selected solely for mechanical advantage.

All races should be from Paizo Products, with one possible exception. I will also consider characters from one third party product, the Xaursi. Why this one product from Rogue Genius Games? Because I wrote it, and this is my one chance to see one of my glow-in-the dark owls in play. Since they are clearly from somewhere in the Vast, any Xaursi candidates should have some background explaining how you made it to Absalom Station.

I will be closing Recruitment on February 1st, 2019 at 10pm Central Standard Time

    Hey Tech Team!

Since both of these adventure paths have product pages, can we have sub-forums in the Starfinder Adventure Path forum for them? Please give us a place to indulge in wild speculation and occasional squees of anticipation!

    Hello Fellow O.P. Enthusiasts!

I need some recommendations for some great scenarios that are pivotal story-wise and connect up to Season 10. I'd like no more than 10 recommendations per poster, and it is okay to repeat something another poster posted. If you only have 1 or 2 recommendations, that's okay too.

Basicially, I'm setting the game schedule for Outpost, and looking for some great PFS classics to offer in addition to Season 10. I already know that I want to offer King Xeros of Old Azlant in order to connect with Statfinder's King Xeros of Star Azlant.

What else do you want to recommend for us to feature in Outpost II: It's the End of the World as we know it (and I feel fine)? Bonus points if a scenario is apocalyptic or has an end-of-the-world theme!

Dear Thurston, John and other awesome developers:

I have noticed now as a GM that several high-level Starfinder Scenarios employ custom maps with the scale of 'one square equals ten feet.'

This unconventional scaling keeps surprising me in the worst possible way. I had to redraw an entire map (that I had lovingly drawn at home and made pretty) in a fast and furious fashion for an in-person game -- stopping the game for five minutes while I furiously erased my map and started over, creating a serviceable rush job that was the correct scale.

In online, it's even more frustrating, because I do not have the skills to redraw a map to the correct scale, and have to use a printing of the image with 10 feet grids. Please... Please.... Please. Can we talk with the fine folks who are in charge of commissioning or creating the custom maps for scenarios, and ask them to grid for five foot squares?

I think you guys are great. I love Starfinder Scenarios and custom maps. But I need a consistent grid size.

    Hugs and happy new year,

I really want the 3-Volume AP format to flourish. I love it! Unfortunately, horror is not my genre, though I love the idea of a short adventure with high level play options. I want adventure, problem solving, derring-do and humor in an AP. I don't mind scary fights and horror elements, but I really have a problem with concept of corrupting PCs. As a result, I'm debating ever GMing Signal of Screams -- even though I desperately want some high level Starfinder content.

This is my humble request begging you to keep experimenting with the three volume format -- just maybe with a non-horror option next time?

I got a request from my regular in-person Organized Play group to start a thread about how Playtest characters are breaking scenarios. They all wanted to post about their experiences in the same place. We just had a really interesting experience with a Playtest ability (those no-save biohacker confusions) totally upsetting a boss fight.

    ★--- ★ --- ★ --- ★

    1) If you are a Society GM, what's been your experience with Playtest characters in your scenarios?

    2) If you are a Society player, have you broken scenarios? What sorts of shenanigans did you use and how did they effect the outcome? (Please mention your type of character and relevant build choices.)

Take it away, guys! I promise to post my own thoughts on all of this after you've had a chance to talk about it.

So I am now in the process of GMing a PBP group of all Playtest People through SFS #1-27 King Xeros of Star Azlant. I will likely have an all Playtest group for a live run of 1-00, Claim to Salvation this Wednesday.

Both adventures feature starship combat, and now I'm wondering where the starship combat skills are for the Witchwarper and the Vanguard. The biohacker has engineering and computers, but where is the Biohacker's piloting skill? The Witchwarper only has the social skills, so can fill in a Captain role, but nothing else. Oh, I suppose there's mysticism, assuming that everyone eventually figures out the Azlanti trick of having mystical systems for gunnery, but that probably won't happen until you release your next starships book. The Vanguard only get Intimidate and Diplomacy. Now, granted, they have full bab so that they can be gunners too... But please give your Vanguards another option!

What's even more disturbing is that Witchwarpers get only 4 skill points as a charisma caster, and they get insight to only one skill -- fortunately, they can pick that skill -- but Vanguards and Biohackers don't seem to get insight bonuses to skills, which means that they will all fall behind in high level space combat.

I have run lots of Starship combats and I find that starship combat works best when most of the players plan for more than one role in Starship combat so that they can flex between roles or cover gaps in a group. This is not only true in SFS, but in my home game when we sometimes have absent players, our players can shift to other roles if needed.

But this only works if the classes have things built in that they can do in Starship combat. Give starship skills as class skills. Provide insight bonuses. Give us options.

At the moment, the only way to get some of those alternate starship skills is to take the right theme (and did you know that no theme currently grants engineering?) or to take Skill Synergy to open up new skills as class skills.

Please, let all classes be able to be good at Ship Combat! We've already had issues with Strength Solarians and non-Star Shaman Mystics. Don't repeat this issue with the playtest.

    Thanks,
    Hmm
