OK, so this was a mental thought exercise rather than a real trip, but still, who on Earth would have the time, money, and inclination to do a year-long road trip?

We did a 5-day road trip to Seattle and it was a blast, but by the end we welcomed the chance to sit still for a few days. I just love my home too much to leave for an entire year, especially to be on the road and constantly on the move.

But I'm sure that now that it's been posted, someone is going to try it. And I have to wonder: Who?

Takes notes on where to find job calls at certain times of the year.

Cant cry over a haircut if you don't have hair to cut.

The Midwest is basically Britain of the culinary US. Except worse.
I grew up hearing horror stories about my maternal grandfather's cooking (circa mid-1960s, Madison, WI), especially of "meat loaf sauce," which was watered-down ketchup mixed with sugar (served with Midwest-style meat loaf).

The only positive is if there is someone who knows how to cook lives there. Or at least have access to a smoker.

Lifes not bad. Started a new trade last year, about to start my second year of apprenticeship classes soon. Looking at starting a new group in shackled city in the next month.

*wakes up from deep slumber* evening all

First day without my old cat, it was hard. Sleeping is a little problem because of the routine of having him take up half the bed as I sleep is a conditioned response.

made it to Houston last night. Arrived at my cousins just after midnight. Now to find stuff to do, for example find a welding job, maybe apartment hunt. Apparently I go stir crazy if I don't have something to physically do.

Huzzah!

Hey! Aren't you a welder?

Why yes, oh brain consuming one, I am. Good job market down there.
Yes it is for welders. You can start looking online now. Two companies that come to mind are NOV and Exterran off the top of my head. Also, I'll keep an eye out for you for things in the Houston Chronicle.

Thanks, I'd appreciate that. My cousin has pointed out Deep South Crane.

Just made a 145 dollar sale. SLINGIN THAT H!!!!!!!

** spoiler omitted **

Now; calculate the FaWTL thread income tax, the LPM's oblitory tithe, calculator fees, my salary, upkeep for the navy, shells for the VP's shotgun for his "hunting trips". Subtract that from the $145 sale and you are left with $7.47 net income.
The naval upkeep is paid in Swedish meatballs. Just saying.
So we just take you to Ikea?
I imagined a longship crushing right into Ikea with vikings spilling into the various areas of the shop...

Sounds like my typical shopping trips.

Mmmm donuts sound good right now.

Ok Not my worst, in my nightmares its my mental image of Jersey doing this to me, but still it was close.

Houston is nowhere near Jersey for "get me the hell out ta here" vibe
