I have a disc where they pair up metal bands with rappers, Big Pun is on there, I forget who he got paired with, but it's a great song.

Though pairing Rage Against the Machine and Wu-Tang clan was kind of cheating.

But in fairness, I think they also have a song with Wu-Tang and Ozzy, so.

I had that album in high school. It was Incubus, and they did "Still Not a Player". I know this because I only got that album because I am and was a huge Incubus fan.

It was actually pretty by-the-numbers after that. Just a few Heavy Floaters and two Mutons, which didn't prove to be too much trouble. Though that dang Sectopod prevented me from getting Excellent on everything, thereby reducing Panic everywhere. Which I really need right now.

Fog is fun! Especially coastal fog. :-)

It's almost alive, you haven't been scared until you've driven through the Redwoods on a really foggy night.

And then the backwoods motel we stayed at was even scarier. :-)

Edit: very nice, love the illustration you found, and love the way spells affect it. :-)

Does it have gaseous qualities? It's not clear from the write up. Can it pass through small spaces and such, even though it is a huge creature, or does it have a fixed shape?

I keep hearing the rumor that France may not be famous for whiskey, but they make good whiskey. We got a case of French whiskey in to work, and I just had to figure out if this is true or not. Dropped more money than I ought to be dropping on liqour, but I'll be damned if everything I've heard isn't completely true and then some.

This is an awesome monster!

I've some questions though... (if you don't mind):

1) in the second line of magic immunity, does it imply that there is a way to make solid fog deal elemental damage? Or just that any elemental damage spell it's not immune to works against it? It's probably clear - aim just blerg at present...

2) is the elemental composition shift voluntary or automatic? In other words, does the golem go, "oh, the master says 'ice' so I'd better chill" (and if so, is there an action? I'd imagine not, but Infeel compelled to ask...), or does it only happen when it runs into something immune to (say) fire - and if it's the latter, how does is the element "chosen" (involuntary as that selection is)? Is there any particular duration before reverting to acid? My impression was that it was non-voluntary (that it merely happens), and my instinct would be to pattern the choice on: non-immunity>non-resistant>(weakness/vulnerability)>alphabetically chosen (making fire relatively rare - much to the world's relief). Does that sound right?

3) The spells, man, the spells! I was going to recommend a number of more specific spells, like river of wind, or wind blades, or even control winds, but the last doesn't allow SR, sooooooo... I was wondering if you wanted to note a general weakness to [air] spells and strong wind - maybe noting that all spells with the [air] descriptor slow it, as the spell, or something, and it's treated as two categories smaller v. wind or wind effects? (Vaguely similar to a living mirage or vampiric mist.) You might have specifically intended that it not be vulnerable to those other effects - I'm not sure - it just feels like that's what you were designing toward with your choices and and statements. I could be way off base, though...

4) no matter how many times I scanned it, until I noticed on its monster page that it was both huge and in constant gaseous form, and even then until I looked at the name for a few seconds, I thought it was a "frog" golem and was getting very confused... oops. XD

Anyway, sorry if that's already clear; I can be dense!

EDIT: for clean up!

No! NO! NOOOOO-

Dammit. All I needed was for at least two of the three countries that were near-Panic to not be together in the same Alien Abduction mission. That was all I needed. And now it's bloody Game Over, because the Council Report is five days away and I don't see how lucky I would have to be to get another Alien Abduction mission with Brazil as one of the targets.

I was so close to finishing, too!

I'm still wondering what happens when it enters an antimagic field. Its gaseous form would be dispelled, so what does it become? It's such a minor thing, but could be a quandary under the right circumstances.

Thanks for the comments! I'll clean up the wording for the elemental damage. I also need to indicate a hierarchy of reactions (and mention that its controller can direct it to change its composition). I also need to expand gust of wind to include all spells that generate high winds.

Why would you think leading thousands of Walking Dead to the army compound holding your family so you can rescue them is a good idea.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Alright. Alright. Since I've gotten sleepy-time now, I think I know what they were trying to pull. I still don't like it, and it wasn't done well, but still.

Spoiler:

They were, in essence, trying to pull a BioShock. When you first start the Atlas Path, and start finding the Interfaces, it seems mysterious, but ultimately benevolent. But the deeper and deeper you go, you start abandoning some of your "friends" and the Interface choices start making it seem like you're character is losing their grip on sanity as you progress. One of your friends starts even getting worried about you and calling you out on it. But, the thing is, at each Interface there is still a choice: abandon the Path and start free-roaming. Despite this, nearly everyone, simply for the lust for knowledge and the potential for power that the Path is promising, continue going forward, despite the Atlas' obviously malicious intent. Like what you're character is going through.

And, at the end, it was all for nothing.

A new solar system is generated, and you get propelled to the next galaxy over, and start off pretty much exactly like how you started the game: with a critically damaged ship, a suit yelling at you that nothing's working, and on a strange, mysterious new planet, implying your character has been going through the Path, on loop, for nearly infinite times.

Do I like how they handled it? No. Do I respect that they managed to merge the feelings of the player and the character, all while having the courage to not give the godmode for completing the Path? Yes.

Welp. there's my opinion.
