"You said the mammal was to the south and something else is west, right? Well, west is definitely right, and right is certainly not left, so we can rule that out. Now, straight isn't left either, but left involves walking into those stones." Viorec pats to the wall on his left. "Given the alternatives, I'd say not-right is close enough to left in this case." He pauses. "So can we proceed?"

No cover for Mr. Bones this time, and if Devlin is in fact down, then I'd drop the -4 from my attack roll. I'm pretty sure it's a hit either way.

The way everyone is crowded in, I'm going to cast on Emil. He seems to be the only one with room to grow. At that point, he'll occupy 2x2 squares. And there he'll stand, grasping his enlarged club... which deals 1d8 damage. Viorec finishes casting and gestures toward Emil. He takes a step and cranes his neck, trying to see past Devlin and Eve. Catching a glimpse of flailing, dusty bones, Viorec flings a ball of acid at skeleton #6. ranged touch: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 1 - 4 = 11
Gorum's left buttock! he curses as the acid narrowly misses Eve but sails past the skeleton. Oh the futility of firing into melee through cover, even with a touch attack. +4 AC for Mr. Bones, -4 for my attack.

I tried to post from my phone earlier. Apparently that failed. I'm not loving enlarge person. The one round casting time is awkward, and you lot have mostly beat the opposition into the dust before it's cast. Edit: It should be good against BBEG though.

I'm also headed out of town. Going up into the mountains. I'll be back by Monday for sure. However, the weather looks poor, so I could well be back sooner. Viorec's got two more enlarge person spells that he could cast... have fun.

I'm assuming that wolf one is dead (since he apparently exploded). If he's not... well, I wouldn't be enlarging Eve or moving as indicated below. With a final shout, Viorec throws his hands toward Eve. In the blink of an eye, she suddenly looms 13' tall and several times her former weight. Eve, you have 10' natural reach, +2 strength, -2 dex, -1 AC and -1 attack. Your weapons are large, so your nodachi does 2d8 damage. Sick. It lasts a minute. "Good thing that won't last long, or she'd eat more than all the rest of us together." Grinning, Viorec casts mage armour on himself (bringing his AC up to 15) and moves past the fallen wolf.

I'm new to play-by-post. If there are things that I could be doing better, please tell me. For example, in combat, do we need to wait for our initiative to come around before we post? As long as there are only PC's going before me, it seems nice to get it up there so that nobody has to wait on me. Just assume that it doesn't happen until my initiative rolls around. Is that common practice, or is it too confusing?

Viorec eyes Emil warily, then shifts his focus to the wolves. "Enough talk of eating others. Those creatures mean to make a meal of us, I think." He starts chanting, low at first, but with increasing volume. "Kupanua mtu, kupanua mtu, kupanua mtu...". With each repetition, he clasps his hands together momentarily, then pulls them apart, wider and wider. This will be Enlarge Person. It will come into effect at the start of my next turn.

DM Jelly, if I have out-of-character questions about the situation our characters are in over on the gameplay board, or rules questions relevant to that situation, where do you want that discussed? Here or ooc in gameplay? Over on the gameplay board, was that pair of eyes more than 60' away? Darkvision and all...

You wouldn't need to find or be given one in an adventure in order to purchase one. So we might as well use the potion if the need arises.

Some feats, spells, and what not are not legal in PFS. Most everything in the core rulebook is in (except some things like crafting and leadership). This lists what's legal and what's not. There's also a link there to the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play (free pdf) for all the details. There are differences about how we gain XP and levels. Played in the flesh, each PFS game lasts 4 hours during which you play one module (or whatever those short PFS-specific modules are called). At the end, you get 1XP. You level every 3XP. Rather than rolling hp when you level up, you gain half your hit die plus 1 plus con mod (plus favoured class bonus plus toughness etc). Loot works differently as well. During the session, it's as per usual. At the end, however, everyone gets the same amount of gold (as dictated by the chronicle sheet for that module) and has the option to purchase items from a list. The items are things that you found during the module. If you found a +2 longsword, and you used it to slay the BBEG in that session, it doesn't mean that you get to keep it. You have to buy it at the end. And your buddy can also buy a +2 longsword. (Getting certain items on your chronicle sheets matters because there are restrictions on what you can purchase. Certain items are always available. Lots of things aren't.) No crafting is allowed in PFS. You can't take feats like Craft Wonderous Item. What you can have is a day job. It's a check that you make after each session to earn extra gold. Usually, you need a craft or profession skill for that. Eventually, we'll have to choose a PFS faction. Usually, we'd do that when we create our characters. In this game, if we're waiting for a connection to the Pathfinder Society to appear, I'd rather delay picking my faction until then. At some point, we'll have to register our characters on the PFS website. And there's more. In the guide. Oh ya. And unless I'm mistaken, every character--regardless of class--starts with 150gp.

For Eve and Devlin... I'm still thinking. It's a small town and we're close enough in age that I'm sure we know each other. I don't imagine Viorec has enemies, unless anyone has a problem with half-orcs. He was bullied for that reason when he was younger and living in Lastwall.

Viorec opens one of the packs and rifles through it. He pulls out the tent and hefts it. Sighing, he looks at the sky. He packs the tent, blanket, and map into his own backpack. Viorec eyes the rest of the communal gear. "Well, I can see in the dark, so..." He takes the brandy, stowing it in the top of his pack.
DM Jelly wrote:
One of Viorec's earliest memories occurred the day after he and his mother left Roslar's Coffer. Having departed without waiting for a ship to take them downriver, they had hiked east and slept by the riverbank. Viorec awoke in the morning to find that he was being observed by a lizard. He fetched a bit of jerky from his small pack and was delighted when the lizard darted forward and took it from him. "That's a compsognathus," said his mother. "They're very quick, and usually quite skittish." The compsognathus continued chewing on his breakfast. Suddenly, the lizard's head snapped up. He opened his mouth and sniffed the air, then darted off into the bushes. Viorec didn't hear anything, but his mother quickly gathered their few possessions. "Get behind that log. Quickly now." No sooner had they hidden than a party of orcs came tramping along the riverside trail, heading west toward Roslar's Coffer. Viorec's mother held him close. They stayed hidden and silent for several minutes after the orcs had passed. Then his mother sighed. "It's a good thing you met that little guy," Viorec's mother said. Years later, the time came for Viorec to call a small animal to aid him in his magical pursuits. He didn't have to consider long before he decided on a compsognathus. He knew that the world outside the walls of Kessan was a dangerous place, and he would benefit from having a vigilant companion to help him explore it.
