Vina Sitha's page

Vina focuses on her meditation, ignoring the scroll and the being that carried it. There will be time for more reading afterwards, but this pre-dawn time was for herself, her feelings towards Kortos Island and the Inner Sea, and her current place in the cosmos.

Reality is like an onion. It has many layers. The magical, the natural, the ethereal, and many more. You can live your whole life looking at the outside of the onion and be fine. Some like to see the other layers, so they peel them, one by one. Some go right to the middle with non-subtle means, but those are usually ready to shed some tears, as they know they're using a knife to cut into the onion directly...

I think the typical expectation is that players have access to the scenario summary blurb for prep purposes. This is why I picked up this druid for this scenario, fyi. Unless the scenario specifically prohibits water spells I had been planning to alter my list with a few changes. Part of my build also depends on a one hour morning seance (spirit class feature) so I will join The Rock for that much needed one hour break if the module is vague on how long we have to get there...

Vina has a puzzled look on her face and finds a nearby spot to meditate outside, cross legged in the grass under the branches of Lakadee, who appears to be taking root and settling for his morning nutrients intake...

Devoid of any clothing in the traditional sense, at the exception of humble looking yew wood headband, pearl earrings, jade bracers, a simple bronze ring and a braided alpaca wool belt holding a two short sticks of darkwood, the only noticeable feature she wasn't born with which drew people's eyes immediately was a cluster of emeralds on her chest attached to a delicate golden clasp arranged in the likeness of a five-petaled blossom. Oddly enough her favorite oak tree outside was also marked by a similar gem flower along his trunk's bark...

When not scouring the Grand Lodge libraries, she had most often been seen outdoors in the nearby gardens that day, devouring a borrowed book while strangely speaking or softly singing to 'her tree'. Things got perhaps a little bit stranger later in the evening for any who may have witnessed the tree deciding to uproot itself and give her a ride towards the north part of lodge's grounds...

As the odd duo went along, now well past midnight, Vina had heard the general hum of a small crowd gathered to discuss among themselves. She was uncertain and didn't wish to intrude on a private meeting she was not invited to. Following the growing noise with caution, she arrived at the vestibule of a smaller building to see Pathfinders of all stripes and levels of skills...

She waved Lakadee forward - she seemed to have named this particular tree for some reason - and motioned for her oaken friend to lean over so as to avoid defoliation by door-frame. Shrinking to small size, Vina climbed down a few feet lower, nimbly jumping from branch to branch, and settled upon a small tree swing swaying through the canopy. From the perceived safety of her companion's foliage, she then dared to listen further. After she spotted a few familiar figures down below she managed to shyly ask, "I... I'm not sure you remember me... my name is Vina. And this is Lakadee. Do y-you know why you have been summoned here exactly?... do you need our assistance?"

Vina casts a spell on Lakadee and opens the door, then instructs Lakadee to exit the bar and head towards the street.

Shrinking to small size, Vina climbed down a few feet lower, nimbly jumping from branch to branch, and settled upon a small tree swing swaying through the canopy. After she spotted a few familiar figures down below - a tall human, a tengu, a half-orc and an elf she had met days before - she managed to shyly ask, "Anthys? Kahwen? Krelin, Xilt and T-t-tzleztor? y-yes? We talked a few days ago as you enjoyed the beauty of the gardens remember? I... I'm not sure you remember me... my name is Vina. And this is Lakadee. Do w-we know why we have been summoned here exactly? I have heard whispers of a t-t-tournament being organized near the Docks..."

Caster druid with treant pet; both have the ability to move normally in overgrown area (incl. Wall of Thorns spell) via Woodland Stride ability. Her non-instantaneous touch spells are shared with the pet at half their normal duration via belt of spirit vines (i.e. stuff like bull's strength, cat's grace, etc.) She uses her Empath feat quite often, so I recommend you take a look at it before the game, as well as the Read Aura occult skill unlock (Empath allows her to do that as a full round action with unlimited use; don't worry I don't abuse this! :) ) The feat only applies when reading emotion auras, as follows (she can still read other types of auras once a day as any psychic caster does):

Read Emotion Aura: The colors within the target’s aura reveal its emotional state. If successful, you learn the target’s disposition and its attitude toward any creatures within 30 feet of it. For a number of rounds equal to the amount by which you exceeded the skill check’s DC, You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks against the target.

That's the weirdest scenario ending I've ever witnessed. LOL

As a soft aside to Vina, Vina, not all humans are as much slaves to such desires.

"Uh... ahem... of c-course Ser Chedwidden..."

Looking surprised that someone overheard her, she shyly retreats within her hanging tent to prevent any further embarrassments to herself.

Vina shakes her head, and quickly retreats to the branches of Lakadee upon detecting the overpowering scent of Morgoth's pheromones, whispering to the sapling treant, "Humans... and their half-breed spawns... relentless in their need for reproduction... constant is their search..."

Vina doesn't have any prestige with Dark Archive or Cheliax; all of the prestige is with the Grand Lodge, but she says this:

"D-dear Zarta. It is a sign of p-personal growth that you no longer feel a slave to your old desires of revenge. You have experienced much in your years with the Society and you now correctly see it as a path of true knowledge and enlightenment. Leave the games of revenge and cloak and dagger to the less educated and pursue the nobler path. Stay with us, sister."

"I am not familiar w-with this expression, but I am in favor of facilitating her freedom. Is she... a soul or petitioner which may require relocation to another plane or is sh-she still mortal? wh-what about the other Hellknight souls waiting in the Ghetto?" Vina asks, her stutter returning between gasps of pain...

Vina stops the Lakadee's bleeding, noting some clear sap soaking the bark on his left side.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

She then tends to Gilgrim's wounds using his wand when he returns from the previous room, unless a more proficient healer decides to use his/her spells instead.

When everyone is healed, Vina nods to Zarta and follows her, not saying much and wincing with every step due to the wracking pain that still courses through her body.

Checking a box in the following goal for Grand Lodge Season 9 Faction Card: "Adventure in a nation other than Absalom. You can receive credit for visiting a particular nation only once. Checking one of this goal's boxes does not prevent you from checking one box for a different goal."

I will also use my downtime to check a box that precedes the "Emilio's Family Treasure (Grand Lodge Faction)" boon.

"Gilgrim, let's go! forget about this statue! we can come back for it later if you need to!" says Vina, hopping back unto Lakadee and directing him back towards the scroll portal.

Vina delays, unsure what to do at this time, and says "Leventi just teleported away from this room... short-range t-teleport magic based on the magical runes that surrounded him... I think he's trying to escape! Morgoth or Zarta: can you alert Vetrivides? I'm not sure we should waste more time here on this statue: I think it's a d-d-distraction!"

Yeah, and it even blasts right through your SR, if you have one... You got haste? *poof!* cancelled!

Is there no save vs. that slow effect? That's kinda brutal.

You only get a will save if you're unaffected by haste (i.e. if you fail your save you then suffer the effect of slow). If you are affected by haste already, slow simply cancels your haste. See this FAQ entry for examples.

Lakadee is nowhere near a wall. He's been wailing at Leventi for a while now. I think you're confusing Morgoth's blue wall (south) with the flying/cutting scroll zones all around the chamber (in pink).

By the way can Noke or Anastasia provide healing to those who have the bleeding condition right now? if there's a way to do that it would be great and would prevent severe healing problem down the line. Thanks!

@Anastasia: I don't think bless stacks with good hope (good hope is better than bless I think, and Stan already gave that to us).

Vina hops down from Lakadee's branches, out of the deadly contracts, and casts a spell on him.

Vina casts atavism on Lakadee; sorry Stan, Lakadee is locked in 'murder mode' at the moment. In regular times he could try to grapple if Vina casts lockjaw on him, but I doubt this would be useful against a major boss like Leventi. I recommend you switch to melee and use smite evil to bypass all DRs. Lakadee is 5 feet off the floor so Stan could fit right underneath him...

@GM: please add 6 pts. of dmg from Lakadee's critical hit due to inspire courage +3 (competence) stacking with good hope +2 (morale). I got confused with Stan's non-stacking discussion but now realize he was talking about heroism. Sorry for the late correction...

Whatever you guys do, don't protect him against our attacks! lol

Vina ignores Noke at this point and focuses on Stan and Gilgrim. She is furious but tries to keep her emotions secret.

"Noke: you can make deals with Leventi when he's in prison or in transit to be destroyed, as he so aptly said. You can then roll the dice to see how long the deal will hold up. You shall not make deals with this fiend in our name or on behalf of the Pathfinder Society: if you do so I will file a complaint against you to the Decemvirate.
Leventi: it is now time for you to come nicely. Please get on your knees and put your hands up. My colleague Gilgrim or Stan here will install shackles on your wrists, if they are so inclined to do so. Gentlemen?"

Vina is completely against making a deal with Leventi. We're here to take down Leventi: anything else is smoke and mirrors. Even Mobray who is pro-Hell has recognized here that Leventi is desperate and *against* Hell, so any deal with that fiend will be null and void in the eyes of Hell's authorities at this point.

Vina shakes her head at Noke. "Do n-not play into his hand and give him a w-w-window for making deals... especially deals that would bind the Pathfinder Society t-to Hell!!!"

If he doesn't surrender as Vina proposed, my vote is fight. Vina would not be in favor of making deals with devils, especially Leventi, as his deals are sloppy and resulted in freaggin Hellknights being bricked into Dis' wall!! I can't imagine how bad his deals would end up for more upright citizens such as our PCs! lol

Morgoth's familiar warned us about the next room so I think we should be ready with both magic and weapons. H-here, l-let me protect us all against fire to start..."

Vina casts an enchantment on the entire party then proceeds to cast a few more on Lakadee and herself. She also readies a potion with her prehensile tail.

Ok. Read the rules on Haunts before using it, so thought it was AC 10. I guess I was wrong. No biggie.

Vina brings up walls of thorns around Gilgrim from floor to ceiling. See map for locations; if it matters, dark green is up to 20' tall and light green is up to 10' tall.

If that's ok with you Vina would have just used the first boon (to lay on hands as paladin 9) and not pulled the Ruby Feather then. Lack of feedback on its damage had me think I had to pull a big one on this...

@GM: I don't quite understand... did the Cure Critical have any effect on the haunt or not?

Cure serious is 3d8 I believe, but maybe you meant to cast cure critical?

A bright radiance suddenly surrounds Vina and she reaches out to touch the battlement scene and its sea of assembled ghostly warriors.

Vina's eyes widen in terror, "A haunt is manifesting! UNLEASH POSITIVE ENERGIES!! You too old man: WAKE UP!"

Following her advice, an old monk that had been sitting within Lakadee's canopy all along, is startled awake and starts waving one hand frantically from its comfortable resting position, almost falling off the living tree, and announces, "GAH! uh... yes, yes my child... let me... uh... proceed yes... In the name of the The Open Hand of Harmony, Of the Dream Lotus and the Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment, DISPERSE! FOUL HAUNT! and return to the state of entropy you so yearn to achieve. All that happened has passed, and all that *IS* now rests within the cosmic equilibrium... so BEGONE!"

Checking one box of my 'Savior of the Tapestry, Traveling Priest' boon as a standard action to have that old man that was with us all along 'Damage a touched haunt, as if a paladin of your character level used lay on hands'

Lay on hands, 9th level paladin: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 3) = 10 pts. of positive energy into the haunt that is currently manifesting.

Oh man... a lot of show for nothing! hopefully Stan's rolls are better than this! :P

Vina shakes her head in disappointment upon seeing the old man waste half of his positive energy harmlessly into the ceiling, missing most of the moving combatants from the gathering haunt by several feet.

Vina casts Guidance on Lakadee and herself, then motions to her tree friend to follow Noke into the scroll leading to the Thrune Museum.
