"Yes, of course." Vanizadi steps up and patches the worst of Maddegan's wounds. He also causes a strawberry to blossom into existence in her hand. "Eat that," he tells her as she revives, "It is infused with vital essence."

He also blasts the big one with more vital energy.

Vanizadi moves quickly to help surround Kalagemmon. Against this greater foe he focuses more on defenses, keeping his shield up, but he does still blast her with vital energy. It's been working so well, so far.

Vanizadi does not object as other medics reach Sethinnol first. It seems the Venture-Captain wanted this team well prepared for medical emergencies, which was prudent but also feels slightly ominous.

He does distribute healing fruits, including to Sethinnol once they're conscious enough to swallow one.

He understands whatever Maddegan is talking about at least as well as she does, but that is not of immediate importance.

"The water is still running," he notes as he gets out the materials for the rubbing, "That is interesting."

That seems entirely normal by Pathfinder standards. Vanizadi pushes himself upright.

In more crowded quarters now, he stays where he is and pushes out another forceful burst of vitality-infused flowers. The need to aim around the other Pathfinder agents, however, means he's slightly off-target. Unfortunate.

Vanizadi got 2 temp HP from his infustion junction and then another 8 from Plant Banner, which I don't think you've accounted for in your total.

...but if that was the Knockdown ability it wouldn't have MAP, so I was successfully tripped.

The enemies are nicely grouped... but spraying creatures that don't bleed with splinters isn't as effective. Instead Vanizadi moves forward and repeats the same trick of blasting the first one forcefully with vital energy.

His usual signature is wooden spikes, but as this assailant seems to be some manner of undead... he thrusts an arm forward, and a vine grows from it, the end blooming into blossoms that burst with vital energy.

He keeps his bark shield up, especially now that he's so close.

Vanizadi is a conrasu, a creature that appears to be formed of wood and bark with a dark orb of glittering specks like starlight in the night sky.

As he rights himself, more bark grows over him protectively. Roots spread out around him in geometric patterns, though they don't actually dig into anything, and occasional blossoms appear around him. He draws his mace with one branchlike arm as a wooden shield forms over the other.

"I am undamaged. It is good that our team is equipped with medics." Vanizadi faces the sergeant, somewhat concerned. "No, my name is Vanizadi. These are Knox, Zdenek, Bramblespine, and Maddegan. We are Pathfinders. You may have experienced a blow to the head."

Should they prioritize finding Sethinnol? Or would it be better to secure their own escape first, to conduct a search in a safer and more organized way? That was usually preferable, but in the icy conditions they might not have the time to spare--though with something approaching they'd likely have more immediate concerns requiring immediate address first.

Ugh, sorry. Illness + holidays = what day is it?

He doesn't object to being in melee, especially to help flank, but all else being equal prefers to staying 10 feet away to attack with reach.

He usually uses impulses of course, but has a decent melee Strike (mace +7, 1d6+3 bludgeoning damage)--though probably rarely the first choice in this party.

Fresh Produce is a bit of a quirky healing ability--it only costs me one action to use, but the target must spend an action to eat the fruit and they have to have a hand.

Hello!

If you're new to pbp here then perhaps I should explain this "dotting in" thing. From your profile you can access a campaigns page, which gives you easy access to all of your pbp games. To join a game, just make a post in the gameplay thread.
Deleting the post doesn't remove the game from your list, so before people are ready to make an actual gameplay post they can still join the game by posting a . (or, well, literally anything, but a single character is enough) and then deleting the post.

That will also add your main profile to the "Players" tab and the profile you use to post to the "Characters" tab. Oh, right! This forum lets you create aliases that are sub-profiles you can post from. Every Society character is automatically an alias, so you can generally just use that character's profile to make your posts. That way you can add your character sheet to your profile, and a stat block to the "race" and "class," which show up under your name in posts in gameplay threads.

(This forum actually has some pretty decent pbp tools!)

Here, I'll make this post with one of my character profiles instead of my GM profile so you can copy it if you like. When you make a post, you can switch to an alias sub-profile from the dropdown near the Preview and Submit buttons. Once you've added a character to a game, they'll also move to the top of the list when you make a post there--which can be very helpful once you have a few of 'em.

I see you've already added your token on the Slides, so thanks for that. On the third slide there, there's a marching order diagram. If you put your token on there, I can use that to help put together starting positions on any battle maps we may use.

"I cannot heal unconscious people with fruit. It can be done with potions or elixirs, but stuffing fruit down people's throats while they are unconscious tends to cause additional complications even if those fruits are infused with healing energy. I can attempt to stem their bleeding, however."

Which is fine. Vanizadi doesn't particularly want the violent brute who attacked them unprovoked to regain consciousness.

He treats her first, as she went down most brutally. ...but perhaps he should have stared with the disciples, who'd been down longer and were less guilty.

"Eat this please," Vanizadi instructs Ma'elo, as one of the blossoms in his aura bursts into a berry and drops into the elf's hand, "It will heal you."

"This will not heal you," he adds to Meleeka, as he swings a twig that grows into a wooden club at her. "Though that option does remain if you cease your attack."

"Perhaps you simply misheard me. We are not thieves, we are seeking a thief. I can heal your disciple if you stop attacking us."

While he tries to stay polite, the conrasu also cannot ignore that the Pathfinders are under attack. Nor that the monks have so kindly arrayed themselves in front of him. He pushes his elemental aura forward, all the roots and bits of wood exploding away from him and showering the monks in a hail of splinters. As Vanizadi reopens his connection to the plane of elemental wood, his aura reforms. This includes a thick branch in the shape of a heavy cudgel punching up at Meleeka from the ground.

◆◆ Hail of Splinters. 30-foot cone catches Black, Red, and Meleeka. They can make a DC 18 basic Reflex save against piercing damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 and 1d4 persistent bleed.
That's a two-action wood impulse, so Vanizadi gains 2 temp hp from his aura junction that last until he start of his next turn.
It's also an Overflow impulse, so his kinetic aura deactivates.
◆ Channel Elements to reactivate his aura. This also lets him use a 1-action blast as part of the action. Elemental Blast: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 for bludgeoning damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 (in the unlikely event Meleeka is already down, he'll use a ranged blast at the most injured monk; same attack and damage roll, but doesn't get the +3 from Strength)

Something occurs to him, a possibility they should have considered: Master Sanvara may be a real person, but not the thief. The criminal could have given someone else's name to mislead pursuers.
But either way...

"I am afraid that as visitors go you may not wish to see us. We pursue a thief to recover stolen items. We know she came in this direction, and have reason to suspect she came to this location. If you happen to be the thief, ma'am, I must request that you return what you have stolen. Otherwise, we apologize for the intrusion and ask if you might have any information that may help us."

Vanizadi focuses for a moment, then with a crackling sound hard bark grows over his already-wooden body. Roots spread out from him along the ground in a geometric pattern. As he moves, they grow in front of him and wither to nothing behind him. The occasional blossom appears in the air near him, also withering away as they fall. A wooden shield forms over one arm-like branch.

"A thief who tells everyone her name and where she lives, but lurks in hiding in the basement below the building? An odd person, I think."

The next Pathfinder is not an elf. He is, instead, some kind of plant. Branches twist around a globe of darkness with points of light like a starry sky, forming a wooden exoskeleton and limbs.

"Understood, Venture-Captain. We will apprehend the thief or thieves."

The conrasu turns to acknowledge the others. "I am vanizadi. I am a healer and medic, and I will attempt to keep you alive, or undead in the event you are already undead. I have some command over elemental wood."

He turns back to the Venture-Captain. "A thought occurs. How large is this statue? Is it something we can carry with us?"

Two Glyphs.

Vanizadi uses the Hardwood Armor impulse, which means his armor is a magical effect that has to be periodically activated. It lasts 10 minutes and only takes an action, so restarting it every time it starts to wear off while exploring is easy enough. But it requires him to have his kinetic aura active, so if ambushed in town or another setting where that would be inappropriate his AC drops to 17 until he activates it.

I'd normally put him in the front, but we seem to be a melee-heavy party and he can also be effective at range. He can slot in anywhere, if anyone wants his space in the marching order feel free to move him out of the way.

He has the somewhat awkward Fresh Produce. It's a healing ability that only takes one action from the user, but the recipient also needs to spend an action to get the benefit and needs a free hand. So, does anyone have a free hand in combat?
On the plus side, he's a good out-of-combat healer.

Nobody has treated the "Head Pathfinder." Perhaps this group is not effective at magical healing. They probably should have discussed that. Vanizadi has some magical healing... but it requires either cooperation from the patient, which is less helpful when they are unconscious, or time and exposure to sunlight, which is also currently inconvenient.

It is good to note this limitation.
