M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah will move to get a clear shot and take a shot at the rats not in melee. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9, damage1d8 ⇒ 5
M Ifrit Bard 2
"Indeed, forward it is. Don't worry Riggar, we shall make it out of this alright."
M Ifrit Bard 2
"Let us be careful, I can still hear something... somewhere. Does anyone else hear it?"
Perception Check 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah starts laughing in relief "Well, it seems that if something is big and scary, odds are good that it's an illusion here! Well said Sunset, that is very true!"
M Ifrit Bard 2
I must have missed an in and out of character knowledge check here. I didn't think scorpions were that bad.
Edit: I missed that it is large. Oops.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah fires a bolt from his crossbow at the scorpion 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9. "Be careful! Let us conserve our strength to take care of this creature."
M Ifrit Bard 2
"Halt friends, see these runes? They seem recently carved and are charged with some sort of conjuration magic. We should try to disrupt them, stand back. " Utarah stands back 15 feet and tosses the gnoll's sword across the runes to see if anything triggers.
M Ifrit Bard 2
"I agree, let us move on for the time being. Rescuing the Shiek's daughter is our immediate concern."
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah will hang back 50 feet from the door, not wanting to be anywhere near if a trap goes off again.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Indeed, I want no additional surprises from this point, let us investigate those areas"
M Ifrit Bard 2
To the Gnoll "I am sorry that things must end this way. We will give safe passage to you and your young pups, and I shall speak to the Shiek that you are not hunted in exchange for this information. I shall say a prayer for your mate, and we shall hunt this Magic Man who brought trouble to us all. Perhaps next time we meet there might not be blood."
He turns to his comrades. "Let us ascend and end this trouble."

M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah advances forward, putting his crossbow away. "We mean you and your children no harm. If I had my way we would claim the captives and leave in peace, without any bloodshed. Your raiders attack the sheik's camp and started this. So please answer my questions.
Where are the captives located? Is there any way of getting them without bloodshed? Why did your men attack the Shiek's camp? Who is the magic wielding leader here?"
Utarah is casting Hypnotism (DC 16 will save) on the gnoll, using Spellsong to disguise the casting as a move action so no one can perceive it(at least without beating his oratory check with a perception check). Also I'm solely targeting her, so she takes a -2 on the save. Basically that fascinates her and makes her friendly for the purpose of one non combat related request/bargain. It's basically a limited version of suggestion, with the suggestion being: answer my questions. It lasts 2d4 rounds.
Diplomacy roll(oratory) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Spell duration 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 rounds.
M Ifrit Bard 2
"Hearing the cries and sudden odd speech coming through the door, Utarah moves forward towards the door. "Don't do anything rash if they don't want to fight. I can help persuade them to talk peaceably."
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah waits fretfully. "Hurry up dwarf!" he calls softly. He positions halfway between his comrades, his crossbow at the ready.
M Ifrit Bard 2
"That's a bit better. Let's go deal with those mangy mutts"
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utharah grimaces, "That would be most appreciated. I do not want to trust these "gifts" the merchant foisted on us unless things become truly desperate."
M Ifrit Bard 2
"gods, that hurt! Oww. Is everyone alright? I knew that was a trap!"
sheesh, that's half of my hp. Stupid freaking nat 1's.
M Ifrit Bard 2
"careful, I've heard stories about statues like these hiding traps. On your guard, in case we spring them."
M Ifrit Bard 2
"Hrm, an odd assortment of statues there." Utarah stares at the statues. "They seem familiar from somewhere, but I just can't place it."
Knowledge Check(whichever is appropriate) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
M Ifrit Bard 2
"You would think with the fabled dwarven knowledge of stone you two...dwarves wouldn't suffer such confusions about caves!" Utarah jests as they head down the corridor.
M Ifrit Bard 2
No sweat, life happens man.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah stops his performance and fires off one last bolt, hoping to slow the dog down so his compatriots can take it down. "Finish him quickly!"
Attack 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 4 = 17, damage 1d8 ⇒ 6
M Ifrit Bard 2
You are totally right, sorry, I normally never play an archer, modified that now.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah recognizes the holy man from the caravan and calls "Always nice to see a fresh face!" He then shoots at the wounded hyena on Gloin.
to hit: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 4 = 21, damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Edit: Woohoo that's a crit threat, rolling confirmation
1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 4 = 3, damage 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (7, 7) + 2 = 16
Also, not continuing performance after this round, make with the stabbing while the stabbing is good
M Ifrit Bard 2
Haha! Utarah fires away again, then reloads and maintains his performance. Aiming at the hyena barely on it's feet.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Yeah a cleric/oracle would be awesome. Also man, after 8 hyenas, fighting 3 of them just isn't as scary.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Sorry, guys, I thought I had a post up, but apparently the boards ate it.
Utarah Starts a performance, yelling at the hyenas and encouraging his comrades. +1/+1 for everyone. He will then reload his crossbow.
That's all I've got for this round. Bonuses for everyone!
M Ifrit Bard 2
"I thought your abilities came from magic. How interesting." Utarah shakes his head and continues on, detecting for magic.
Learn something new every day
Treasure hoard? Aww yeah!
M Ifrit Bard 2
Quietly to Gloin "Can you feel any presences? I do not perceive any magic. Let's keep moving"
Utarah continues concentrating on detect magic.
M Ifrit Bard 2
I can keep track if everybody wants. We're currently at 2085xp, and need 3,300 to hit 3rd level.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Rolling his eyes at the dwarf's rough jests, "Let's just get this over with. Let's see if I can find some any more enchantments... Gloin, take point if you don't mind? I agree, let's finish this floor first. This time you can be the one to open the door."
Utarah begins using detect magic looking for any more illusions or other enchantments.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah blinks of looks again and realizes the dwarf and elf are perfectly fine... "What is... how... Oh thank the stars!" He breathes a giant sigh of relief and walks back towards his friends. "Cursed illusions, I need to try my hand at those some time. Hey, it's not that funny, I'm not that scared!" He grins at his companions.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Seeing his companions die Utarah cries in horror and starts to run. Then, hearing voices still speaking, he becomes confused and slows, looking back at the scene of devastation.
I assume I get another save with a bonus in response to hearing their voices?
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah sees the hyenas and calls to them. "Down with you, DOGS!" As the word leaves his mouth it transforms into a stream of crystaline shards, which strike both of the hyenas.
Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5) + 1 = 8, hyenas need to make a reflex save DC 15 for half. After that Utarah will move back 10 feet.
Chord of shards is a wonderful spell at low levels. Too bad the damage doesn't scale.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Oppa Dwarven style cracked me up.
Also, in other news, Dire hyenas are kind of terrifying.
M Ifrit Bard 2
I'd take a new car! Or at least a new car's worth of treasure.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah readies his crossbow, advances quietly to the door, then after waiting for everyone to take up positions, starts exhorting his companions and yanks open the door.
Let's see what's on the other side. Hopefully this won't be too crazy.
M Ifrit Bard 2
Hey, so I'm kind of a newbie at PbP, but it seems like we're down to three players. Is that right, or are the others out for a few days for some unknown reason?
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah picks up the weapon and attaches it to his pack and says quietly "Let's head right this time"
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah falls silent and looks at the gnoll, then at the hammer that felled it. "Well... that went better than expected. We should continue on and catch them by surprise before they miss him. What do you all think?"
I'd like to search the gnoll to see if he's carrying anything of note and see how fine his scimitar was. Also, the comment cracked me up Sunset.
M Ifrit Bard 2
As Utarah steps back to clear the door, he starts a performance (Inspire courage, +1 to hit/+1 to damage).
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utharah will motion to the others and whisper "prepare yourselves" and creep forward. When everyone is ready he will yank the door open and step aside so they can attack.
M Ifrit Bard 2
only if the door is made of lead!
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah follows sunset down the corridor and says quietly "What a convenient place that illuminates itself for those who need it! I wonder what sort of magic was wrought in such a temple? Why would gnolls bring a captive to this place?"
something is going to jump out at us, I just know it.
M Ifrit Bard 2
"Well, the legends I have heard always say left to horror, right to treasure. Let's get the horror over with. Let's head left, and be wary of any more traps." Utarah heads down the hallway slowly.
Knowledge (Dungeoneering) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah takes a second position, after Sunset as the head into the cave. "I would prefer to not split up, in case they are laying in wait below. Sunset, if you wouldn't mind leading the way?"
Utarah holds his crossbow at the ready and scans the area around.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Since Sunset is going first and said to post for her, perception for her as well?
M Ifrit Bard 2
Utarah ponders what to make of the sudden "gift". He examines the potions and says ""That was most strange indeed. I might be able to... hrm... what is that...?"
Spellcraft rolls for the "healing" and "wine" Using detect magic.1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
M Ifrit Bard 2
Well, those two levels of Barb will give you some good HP and BAB to start off with. Also, the larger damage dice and cool crit range of elven curved blade work great with magus.
M Ifrit Bard 2
True, but we've got more options now, and with a little more HP a single bad roll won't put you at zero (like what almost happened to akaash).
Also, I picked up chord of shards, so I can actually do 2d6 AoE damage now in addition to grease. Should hopefully help a little.
