Knowledge is indeed a valuable currency, but the value depends on one's desire for such knowledge...Without knowing what is of value and to whom, it makes for a volatile exchange rate. Perhaps favor in the future or immediate support in a current endeavor could be more easily measured in our short time frame.
Tyboris listens intently to the conversation regarding forcefields and offers up some of his own opinions and experiences with ancient patterns.
After getting their attention with juicy tidbits of information he staggers his spill of knowledge in exchange for details of their stations and positions on footfall or a rival dynasty. Should either be familiar with Emerald Green transport, he would inquire more in exchange for his in depth knowledge of the current conversatiion.
Tyboris did not mind the mistake in his introduction, he preffered to keep a lower profile, which is difficult for a Magos and man of his size. Adding a title such as First Officer would have been unnecessary. Perhaps he might blend more easily and converse more freely as Chief Enginseer. He makes his way around and checks for any Mechanicus brothers of importance and merely tries to blend in, hoping the Orks might be a bigger distraction. He does not try to engage in conversation, but will be polite if anyone approaches him.
That Jade Green ship gives me concern, as do the men in ancient power armor guarding it. Clearly that Dynasty has significant resources and has come to do business...One way or another. He orders the men staying behind to keep him updated of the ships nearby and their escorts guarding them, wanting to know immediately if they move or take any action besides standing guard. The things I could learn from such a piece of Archeotech thinking of the ship as much as the power armors. As they exit, he checks to make sure his MIU is linked to the shuttles vox uplink with the ship, so he may maintain communications as a secondary precaution, while uploading layouts of the interior spine that he plans to construct with his auspex and relay back to the ship and men standing by to act should things go wrong. His paranoia, while perhaps to a level of some embarrassment to some goes without saying to those used to serving by his side. He scans each ship with his auspex for any unusual energy signatures and heat patterns indicating additional bodies inside the transports. Slowly working his way from the closest ship to the furthest: Ship 3:Tech use for Auger: Int 51 +10 (61)vs 1d100 ⇒ 77
Ship 2: Tech use for Auger: Int 51 +10 (61)vs 1d100 ⇒ 97
Ship 1: Tech use for Auger: Int 51 +10 (61)vs 1d100 ⇒ 71

Originally I had PM'd the GM to take that Alt. Rank from DH, but he didn't want to allow it. Its a level 1 alt rank, Factor Of Lathes, I believe the name is, always wanted to play one in a game and for RT could have been really really fitting. I do have the "False Man" background that kind of supports such a thing for possible transition later, but it being a rank 1 alt. means theres a whole lot of training and body work, history and fluff into its preperation... Wish you had been here in the beginning to consider such requests. Perhaps if you take over permanently later on, I'd be completely fine starting a new pc, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
I'm fine too, just remember I've got Auspex and can use tech use to detect things not normally able to be seen like gas, heat signatures, etc. I guess that's not a bad idea as GM, just need to gather up everyones Per/Awareness stats and then make a single roll? Or do you roll for each person? Lets see how it works.
Sorry I was slow to post, I would have assisted Iota in research, but I was beat to the punch. Tyboris acknowledges the commands of the Captain, he had accompanied him back to the library to see if the ship contained any valuable information regarding the men in question. Search (Untrained) Per 17 + Auger (20)?? vs 1d100 ⇒ 65 Fail
Being of little use among the library, his size unable to handle and search with ease, he wastes time on useless books that do not help the endeavor. Once his orders are received, he attempts to search the ships cogitators for more information, using his MIU to access them.
@Iota: We can attempt non advanced skills, just at half our characteristics. Things like search or inquiry. In preparation for the the event, Tyboris selects his finest Mechanicus robes, slings his power axe over his back and does acquire 2 las pistols to tuck away. As First Officer his duties are also to make sure the ship is well guarded during the party and that in any event resources are ready at a moments notice to aid the party at leave. He readies additional transport and men who to be stationed and full armed, all on stand by should the need arise. He assigns medics and some tech-priest as well to accompany them, preparing for any eventuality his paranoid mind could conjure. Lastly, he orders men stationed on the ground near the even and in the surrounding areas, all on the look out for deception or treachery. This many Rogue Traders together on such a backward world, presented too good an opportunity for deceit. He would not allow his crew to be caught off guard and the mission and Captain compromised.
1d100 ⇒ 97 tech use
Tyboris tries to configure his internal Auspex to scan for any listening devices or anything that is transmitting a signal that isn't recognizable as part of their dynasties frequency. He carefully searches the room and monitors the servo skull he left outside.
Tyboris takes watch near the door of the bar and doesn't order a drink. Even if he wanted too, he's sure the size of the furniture would not support him or his weight. He keeps his servo skull near the captain and Orks so he can hear anything important, while he maintains distance and scans the patrons and bar for any signs of a trap.
Victus Rex wrote: everything should be in this profile now. Does a ship have base stats? I mean for example, a detection test: I saw the +5 to detection, but didn't see our ship's base stats...Detection would be my scrutiny+detection+bonuses... Could be way off, I'm still working on the ship actions for the profile, just put it on the back burner while planet-side.
Not sure how to RolePlay with orks. Are they going to spread spores just by being around so people shun them for that on top of being xenos? I'd imagine they're sanctioned? They are full members of our dynasty and crew and should be respected as such... Though people will be people regardless. Just not sure how to reply IC...
Tyboris keeps pace behind the captain until they pause and he takes a step forward to listen. Standing tall with his armor covered in blood red robes and two servo skulls following him above his shoulders. His axe at his side, though mostly for show, he much preferred the efficiency of his back slung Bolter. I will inform the crew he replies to the captain when he finishes speaking. Tyboris then connecting through Vox relays he messages the ship and issues the orders through ship wide Vox. He then orders servo skulls aboard the ship to roam and relay the message on set intervals, particularly near exits to remind every crew member. Command 40 vs 1d100 ⇒ 35
Once entering the system, Tyboris orders full auger sweeps of the system, paying close attention to any hiding spots for ships. This could be a trap. he thinks to himself as he pours over the readings, but then he felt that way about most things, and rarely even found comfort on the ship. His sanctuary was among his experiments and designs, those realized and those yet to be dreamed up. While his duties as First Officer took time away from his own pursuits, he found it suitable cover to conceal anything others might consider risky. He still commited himself to machinery and aided in maintaining the ship when time allowed.
Victus Rex wrote: Everything about the Victus rex should be in this profile. I can PM when I am not on my phone. That profile is empty, no ship stats. Things like augers and such we need to do not based on our characteristics, but the ships detection+skill, etc. I'm gonna try to work up a post with those ship actions spoilers, maybe broken down in some better order than the book. I'll paste here and you (Both RT) can cut/paste into the ship profiles and/or your own PC alias profile. That way you won't need to books to check them. I'll also update my Alias to show what ship I'm aboard and my position.
Tyboris and Hexa both watch intently as the auger reports stream in. Tyboris carefully archives and records anything necessary for their current mission, as well as anything that could be useful or demand further investigating. The trip to the core of the system to scan the major bodies is slow, but Tyboris doesn't leave the bridge, his body sustaining him beyond normal human limitations. Don't think we need to roll, seems were just jumping ahead?: Just in case: Per 35, MIU+10, Any ship bonus? or is it just vs my own PER? Need to re-read ship actions and rules.
Tyboris squeezes through the entrance to the command bridge followed by a servo skull, but it's barely visible behind the hulking frame of the Explorator. Robed in crimson, he towers over the crew and stands tall next to the Ork. His face covered mostly, he speaks loudly, his voice carrying throughout the bridge. Forgive my delay Lord Captain, the machine spirits were upset once again by our Ork companions soothing touch the intended sarcasm lost in his monotone voice. A large tool belt wraps around his waste, full of tools he often finds necessary to repair and secure the ship's systems. On his back a boltgun is slung around over his chest, but it too is only visible from behind, his frame eclipsing even his potentia coil from the front. Not one for sitting, he merely stands in silence and begins to commune with the machine spirits of the ship, monitoring all vital systems with his MIU, overseeing subsystems and the slow approach to the core, ready to report anything of significance before anyone stationed could speak. The crew knew better than to pay him much unnecessary attention or to question Tyboris, he had little patience for ignorance and idleness. Even conversing in Gothic seemed to test his patience, much preferring the logic and preciseness of binary. The bridge and this ship were one of the few places in the universe where he could let his guard down slightly, his paranoia often at the forefront of his thoughts, even now his mind raced in potential dangers that lay in this system. Having some Orks and questionable technology on board did little to alleviate his fears, but he trusted in the Lord Captain implicitly, and would tear down any man or machine on order. He often did not carry his axe, though he had been known to use it. He usually defaulted to dealing with insubordination bare handed. Underneath his skin and robes lay more than any one being could understand, including himself. So much unknown and yet to be discovered. What do the active augers show? I want auger reports from the Victus Rex as well never truly trusting a single glance, always searching for some invisible threat he was convinced would befall them.
A good navigator is crucial, even if we only have one for both ships... And a good Astro telepathic choir on board will be necessary. I'm up for creating another pc if that's allowed... Otherwise we got quite the list of important things to get. My brother GMs here on Paizo for wh40k, might be a bit late for submissions, but he could plug a hole if we need. MIU sounds good for me, it's quite useful. Unfortunately don't have piloting, but that will come later.

Yea, should be fun to see what I can get away with while on board a ship full of Orks tinkering with standard designs, plenty of excuses and scapegoats if the Mechanicus comes knocking. |
