All good! If *Trokkus* of all people needs to succeed on a UMD check in order for us to survive, things are pretty dire indeed :)

Lugging his backpack over one shoulder, the half-orc follows the nearest servant out into the corridor.

@GM: I've now got Trokkus leveled up and the tagline adjusted--sorry it's taken ages :)

@PCs: Just FYI that if you're within 10' of me, you automatically get a +4 morale bonus vs Fear (and I can spend some resources to give you some additional bonuses).

Trokkus lingers just inside the doorway, thinking that after a week stuck aboard ship, a hot meal and a hot bath would be preferable to talking. I'm gettin' soft . . .

Trokkus walks right up to the front door and tries to open it.

Obviously, flip-mats and precautions mean something bad is going to happen, but Trokkus has never been attacked on the way in to a Lodge before and after a week being vigilant about an ambush, would probably let his guard down here.

We're already pretty OP, so how about we go with a fun and rarely-used skill, like Sleight of Hand, Linguistics, Knowledge (nobility), or Appraise?

A burly half-orc with a broken left tusk nods. "Name's Trokkus," he says gruffly. His left arm easily bears the weight of a shield with the angelic ankh holy symbol of Sarenrae etched into its surface, while his right hand is encased in a spiked gauntlet. "Hope the Decemvirate knows what it's doing in sending the Pale Maiden to Galt. Place is a real mess."

@GM: I still need to level Trokkus up to 12, and once I do I'll update his prepared spells in his profile list.

Trokkus is, I guess, best described as a "support paladin" (he is not a true melee frontliner, but can hold the line for a bit while helping with some healing, condition removal, etc.) He is definitely *not* optimized, which will help to balance the party out ;)

"Ya did sumptin' dumb, and might've gotten some folks killed," Trokkus says to Colson. "Good ta reckon wit' that. Then, get back at work and do better. There's always a path forward, just hard ta see it sometimes. Dawnflower taught me that."

Bruised and battered by potatoes and rocks, Trokkus is pleased to see one of his allies magically disappear with Colson!

"We ain't need to fight the whole city!" he calls out to his allies. "Head on out and I'll hold down the rear and catch up wit' these fancy boots!" Tiny wings on the half-orc's boots begin flapping furiously and lift him into the air!

Fort Save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Activating winged boots as a standard action.

@GM: That's okay, I'll stick with Trokkus' action and just imagine he didn't realise just how out of it Colton is.

Trokkus jogs forward. "What's happenin' here ain't right!" he calls out. "This ain't justice, 'an the heavens know it!" A ray of light emanates from his shield and seems to loosen the manacles around the bound and suffering Colson!

Move action to move and then casting liberating command as an immediate action. This gives Colson an immediate Escape Artist check with an extra +20 bonus. As a standard action, I'll try Diplomacy to sway the crowd to stand down.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Bleeding in multiple places from the pikalchi's thorns, Trokkus only grunts as he continues to slam away with his spiked gaunlet infused with Sarenraen's holy power!

Continuing to attack Green, with the smite still active. I'm going to use Fortune for my last iterative attack.

"Pakalchis! My specialty," growls Trokkus. "But watch out for their poisonous thorns!"

I'm going to use Fortune (thanks Percy!) to roll the save twice and take the better result.

Trokkus stays out of the way, knowing that the civilians will be at much less risk if they can be rescued without the need for a bloody battle.

Trokkus half-whispers, half-mumbles to the others. "Gotta either be real sneaky or try an' take out these mooks fast, a'fore they can alert the whole base. Mebbe one of youse have a silence to lay down?"

Trokkus reads over the note, and nods. "It figgers. Creeps usin' final blades and such probably ain't adverse to consortin' with even worse."

Trokkus moves as quietly as his awkward frame allows, trusting his allies will let him know when the time for action comes . . .

@GM: I think the main thing we need resolved first is how we're doing in terms of in-game time. Do we have time to visit the family and return to the prison before the scheduled executions?

I know what you mean, but we've raised the issue a couple of times and haven't gotten any word that we're on a clock per se, so I figure the gather info check is a direct way to sort out whether there are hostages or not. If not, we can concoct a plan for the prison.

"Guess we better ask around to figger it out one way or another."

Trokkus once again hits the streets, hoping this time to learn whether Estinne's family is still in the city.

"Eh, I think that other guard's working in the prison! Long shift, so gettin' in ta talk wit' him would be as hard as breakin' ta free the prisoners. Lest I'm misunnerstandin', which ain't exactly impossible."

Getting back together and sharing what we've learned might be a good step towards figuring out a plan.

After getting turned around and a little lost in the streets of a foreign city, Trokkus lurks in an alleyway near the tavern where they met their contact.

I'm still here--I'm just not sure what to do, so I figure I'll stay out of trouble until needed :)

"Yeah, that sounds like a good step. So long as we ain't take all night wit' it, on account of heads'll be rollin' soon."

Trokkus hits the down-and-out sections of the city near the prison and subtly mentions it to see if it sparks any gossip.

I'll Take 10 on a Diplomacy (Gather Information) check with a result of 18 to see if I can dig up anyone with memories of the layout or entrances to the prison.

Sounds like a plan. If it suits, I'll do a gather information check to see if any locals were ever in the prison.

@PCs: I happen to have a boon for a +5 bonus to one Bluff or Disguise check against someone from Galt! I've had it for several years and never thought I'd get to use it :) I also have a boon that allows me to cast possession once, which could be useful depending on the plan.

Trokkus nods. "Yeah, that'd be great. More info we get 'bout guards, secret ways in and out, mebbe passwords or disguises, the better. All that good stuff. Ain't never done a prison break before."

Trokkus furls his brow at the question. "Pal, I ain't seen nothin' further from an elf 'cept a troll one time." He shrugs. "Hope that ain't a disappointment to ya."

Trokkus downs his mug of ale, and then observes to no one in particular. "Ah, I gotta take a leak." He ambles towards the exit to see if the coast is clear.

Trokkus nods knowingly as he looks around. Taverns like this are the same anywhere in the Inner Sea (except when they're not).
