Well, one of his main uses is existing, allowing Xara to steal enough of his evolutions to gain at will flight for herself! :) The caster level 20 dispel magic wand is hugely expensive, though I can see its value. Have a look at his current wand selection. Are there any first or second level spells you can see him wanting to add? Bless and divine favour, perhaps? @GM Yes, normally the eidolon of a 20th level summoner would be equivalent to a 20th level character in is own right, but Xara decided I just wasn't good enough for her, and wanted the ability to summon a whole bunch of other monsters, so she took an archetype that reduced me to half effective level, meaning I'm only as powerful as a 10th level normal summoner's eidolon. And people wonder why I have inadequacy issues...
I prefer that ruling as well, even though it does sometimes cause summoners to use their eidolons as safety deposit boxes. It's such a nuisance to always be picking up dropped equipment and handing it back out. In that case, can I have a custom belt crafted for Trig that can hold his array of wands and scrolls (though he doesn't have any scrolls at the moment, I see him being more of a wand guy)? Nothing terribly fancy or magical, just a leather belt with some loops for attaching wands, normal move action to retrieve, etc.
Trig begins savaging the gnoll in front of him. Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12; damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
He then takes a 5-foot step closer to the next rooftop gnoll.
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Trig would delay until after Xara, but it doesn't look like he needs to, since he would go right after anyway. He looks about for any assailants on the roofs, and if he spots one, takes off into the air at him (fly speed 70 with haste. Possible attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27; damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
"Un, oh," Xara whispers. "Magical thingy pet!? Magical thingy pet!? Indeed! I will show you, pet!! He sets aside his staff, unfurls his wings, and takes to the air...only to quickly bump his head on the low ceiling of their shanty. He growls at the roof beam a moment, then grabs on and pulls himself up on to it. "Come on then, mister Important Human. Take your best punch on the group pet. Ask Jazismus if he thinks all I am is some magic lap dog!"
Trig, who has been going around all day scanning people with his detect undead stick, doesn't seem to hear Xara, as he's currently watching Belros very intently (not taking his eyes off him) and closely (from about three feet away). Once it looks like he's gotten on Belros' nerves enough, he asks casually, "So, Belros, is there perhaps something you should be telling the rest of us?" He gestures meaningfully with the staff. Bluff: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 His giant smirk gives himself away.
Trig follows along, using his fancy new staff as a walking stick. "I feel I should get myself some sort of hooded black cloak to go with my necromancy badness." Trig amuses himself casting detect magic out of the staff on everybody they meet. He auto succeeds on his Use Magic Device to activate wands and staves.
"Wings?"
"F*%& ME!!" the eidolon says, and starts flapping about. |
