How are we handling health?

my update is that I'll be a fighter dipping into monk for better disarm and full-round action abilities. They'll be a Swordlord/Gladiator Fighter with 1 level in Maneuver Master Monk.

Focus on combat maneuver disarm and the bonuses that stack with fighting defensively.

I'd like to dot with a half-elf swordlord.

Seems appropriate for the setting and party.

Alexandra moves to get the remaining skeleton in view before extending her hand, a ready of ice bursting from it and towards the burning undead.

"Let's see what is stronger. Fire or ice."

Attack Roll (ranged touch attack): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Ouch. Nat 1

Dotting interest but can only play of we play Tuesdays due to time zone.

It's late here currently so I'll see about rolling up something tomorrow.

Are there any alignment restrictions other than non evil (I assume no evil anyway)

I love evil characters.

My favorite campaign I'm the only evil in the party!

Clever evil is so much more satisfying than stupid evil.

Definitely dotting.

Was going to pitch my LE Inquisitor, but he is an Aasimar. I did make a character for a Seven Deadly Sins campaign... But they were an Orc.

Buuut everything can be rewritten ;)

Character Concept:

So my idea took a turn after looking at variants and the like. Was going to do a Hulk, so professor that teaches at the Academae and Brute alter-ego.

But the variant I chose has minus intellect.

So now I have a famous fashion designer/diva whose alter ego is Brute. And when he gets angry he grows into the massive hulking demon looking thing, and when it ends, he is very upset about his ruined clothing and shoes.

Even thinking that there's something like the better dressed the person trying to calm him down, the easier it is lol

Took bonuses in Bluff because he tells people they look great a lot when they don't. Very stereotypical fashionista kind of guy who happens to turn into a Hulking Monster of Destruction when in alter-ego.

Variant Tiefling
1d100 ⇒ 9

You gain an additional +2 racial bonus to your Charisma score.

lol that's kinda useless for my planned build, but I do have a back up. I guess Social identity can never have too much Charisma.

Experiment on Tiefling table for Vigilante appearance:

Arms: 1d5 ⇒ 3
stony forearms

Build: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
emaciated

Digits: 1d5 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
extra digits

Ears: 1d5 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
other (wolf?)

Eyes: 1d5 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
other (solid black)

Face: 1d5 + 25 ⇒ (1) + 25 = 26
canine muzzle

Hands: 1d5 + 30 ⇒ (1) + 30 = 31
backward-bending fingers

Head: 1d5 + 35 ⇒ (5) + 35 = 40
other (stony)

Horns: 1d5 + 40 ⇒ (1) + 40 = 41
draconic

Legs: 1d5 + 45 ⇒ (4) + 45 = 49
froglike

Skin: 1d10 + 50 ⇒ (9) + 50 = 59
variable color

Tail: 1d5 + 60 ⇒ (3) + 60 = 63
mammalian

Teeth: 1d5 + 65 ⇒ (3) + 65 = 68
metallic

Other: 1d20 + 1d10 + 70 ⇒ (4) + (1) + 70 = 75
bony ridges

Wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for emaciated and frog legs XD

ANOTHER FOR FUN!
Arms: 1d5 ⇒ 1
elbow spurs

Build: 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
unnaturally light

Digits: 1d5 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
abnormally long

Ears: 1d5 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
other

Eyes: 1d5 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21
cyclopic

Face: 1d5 + 25 ⇒ (2) + 25 = 27
insectile mandibles

Hands: 1d5 + 30 ⇒ (5) + 30 = 35
other

Head: 1d5 + 35 ⇒ (5) + 35 = 40
other

Horns: 1d5 + 40 ⇒ (3) + 40 = 43
ram-like

Legs: 1d5 + 45 ⇒ (5) + 45 = 50
other

Skin: 1d10 + 50 ⇒ (1) + 50 = 51
feathered

Tail: 1d5 + 60 ⇒ (3) + 60 = 63
mammalian

Teeth: 1d5 + 65 ⇒ (3) + 65 = 68
metallic

Other: 1d20 + 1d10 + 70 ⇒ (2) + (3) + 70 = 75
bony ridges

What are the chances of getting 75 from 70 + 1d10 + 1d20 TWICE?
They start out so well and then it's like you have one eye and insect mandibles lol

lets just roll 5 100 and see what I get.

5d100 ⇒ (71, 71, 38, 59, 50) = 289
2x Androgynous, bald, skin variable colour, legs (other)

Think I'll just make up my own appearance lol. But that was fun!

Inspiration has struck so dotting I am.

Also I like the idea of VMC to create variables even if only the Vigilante can use theVMC skills

Dotting. I'm considering applying with an Inquisitor/something of Asmodeus into Hellknight, but that of course depends, GM, on your willingness to accept an evil character.

I already asked.

Naw, thanks for thinking about it though :3

I'll get him into a campaign one day.

Am I allowed to make another character?

Question:

Would Carrion Sense apply to sniffing out undead made from corpses?

I'm dotting with Alpha, a scar ridden Winter Wolf who watched as one by one his pack was ripped apart and raised to be undead mounts for the unholy armies.

Many times, they were faced with undead immune or resistant to cold, making their breath attacks redundant. They were hunted by exhaustion techniques, the undead never needing to rest or eat, and weren't slowed by injuries unless a leg was missing.

His scars were many, from countless battles with that army. Even when aligned with frost giants or orcs, they all slowly fell into undeath.

So they trekked to the Sanctuary. 12 started. 2 arrived. The new Alpha, and the pup he could hold and run with. He had grabbed the first he had seen.

His hatred for the undead runs deep. His alpha title a stinging reminder that every other member of his pack is undead.

So he adopted that name. And he fights to earn it.

So my character is a Gray Maiden; a Sister-in-Arms Cavalier.

She gets Order of the Lion (commitment to a sovereign) and Order of the Dragon (commitment to a group) but doesn't get a mount.

I was also wondering if, with traits, those that fall under faith could just be changed to Arthurian?

As a home brew, with the majority of traits, we don't meet prerequisites. Can we change the prerequisites to for so long as it's not evil based like from Champions of Corruption or have an evil deity requirement?

While your race would match Loralai's ideal of creating a kingdom for the shunned of society, I'm not sure a CG would mesh well with an LE/N. It would be amazingly interesting if we took on the premise of them being good friends so that they weren't trying to kill each other or backstab, it would really depend on how he viewed necromancy.

They're even around the same age!

But pretty sure that pesky alignment would get in the way, especially if he doesn't like the idea of undead. :P

Are we allowed to rewrite trait flavour to fit our character backgrounds so long as we keep the prerequisites and stick to only one from each trait type?

I having a bit of trouble finding any flavour that suit my character just because they are mostly written for like younger characters having limited past influence...

Another question.

With archetypes I have 2 Wizard archetypes and Wizard is my static class. Am I both archetypes for that one class or do I need to choose which one I am?
I think I already know the answer but I'm triple checking because I've put a decent amount of research into how to optimise this character and don't want to go forward if it turns out she's not allowed to be that way anyway.

In addition to what was asked, I also cannot get a familiar but I am just checking about animal companions?

Also, because gestalt is still a bit crazy for me if I wanted an ability a class gained at like level 10 would I get it when I hit level 10 if I made it my secondary class even if its the first time I gestalted with that class?

Righto.

I'll just make her anyway but she isn't that character, just someone who wants to be a Knight and serve the King.

oooooh! I love Arthurian legend!

Stats:

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 3) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 3) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 3) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 6) = 14

And just like that my excitement is gone. 20 point buy is meh. But oh well. Maybe I'll make something but with stats like that I doubt they'd be very interesting.

Especially with ol' Superman a few posts above mine.

DM Question:

Can I make a twist on Guinevere? I checked through the NPCs first and didn't see her name, but then again you might have changed it like you did with Merlin...

Her thing would be maybe a childhood friend or even just a secret admirer of Arthur when he was a squire. She's trained to be able to help and protect him, even if he doesn't know who she is. She'd more likely than not be a paladin, or a cavalier.

Even if she changed her name so he wouldn't know who she was, or didn't need to cause she never actually meet him just admired from a distance.

Either way, she set out to help him rebuild her beloved country in whatever way she could, even if that meant being a Knight against her families wishes.

She should be married by now, but she's not. She's got to get over this infatuation first.

I'm thinking like Brienne of Tarth had with King Renly Baratheon in Game of Thrones.

Question for DM:

In regards to the giving up the bonus feats for an archetype without giving up class feature, does this mean that I could take another Wizard archetype?

Not wanting to go in a major different direction, Dhampirs just have a nifty racial archetype for Wizards that complement the idea of a Necromancer called Cruoromancer and have nice additional abilities that don't overlap like other undead focused classes or archetypes do (getting Command Undead a million times lol)

Character gist:

Pitching my idea for a female Dhampir who wants to found a kingdom where not only can her kind, but other misplaced races like changelings and half-drow, can flourish using undead for the grunt work.

She'd be a Wizard (Undead Master)/UC Monk (Scaled Fist).

The class combo plays on a Dhampir's longevity. She was raised in a monastery, and lived there for a good while, until it became clear that her interest in death and the undead was beginning to unsettle the others. She remained long enough to become sufficient, over 50 years, but she felt the draw in her blood to seek out what she was.

This lead her to her second Master, a Necromancer who was more than happy to take on a Dhampir apprentice. This was how she learnt about her blood's abilities to enhance the undead. Since he was an Undead Master, that's what she became, but she inevitably uses the pros of her blood as it was something that her Master did regularly.

That's how it'd play out if I was allowed both archetypes anyway.

And the alignments match, with monks only needing to be Lawful and Necromancers needing to be Evil (though I think that's pretty judgy seeing as she just wants to use them to help people pursue greater things than farming.)

Dot!

This sounds awesome and Discord is the best to run games over!

I've decided to go with an Elven Cavalier (Green Knight)/Oracle (Nature) OR Druid (Leshy Warden)

Her premise is that she has lived long enough to see the damage that human expansion and settlement does to the natural world. Her goal is to prevent the lose of natural spiritual and sacred sites in the new frontier while also trying to encourage co-habitation and sustainable practices that incorporate the environment, rather than replacing it.

I actually wanted to do a water-based character until I saw all the Undines and Hydrokineticist, so I went this route.

Wow we can VMC in a Gestalt!?

I did not know that...

Dotting interest.

Would love to finally get into a Gestalt :)

Fangirling over own character:

I'm not at my computer right now but I need to tell you guys that I love this guy.

Like, I even have the spell history. His first one was Spark when he was 4, which is why his parents are still wary about him and flammable things.

He was told that he couldn't see his new little sister and mother after she was born because they were sick. In reality, his parents were worried (and feeling pretty guilty about it too) that he'd hurt her accidentally.

So little Trace began to help around the house a lot. Now 5, he learnt Open/Close to get around easier, Mage Hand to help him get things down from high cabinets and shelves, put things away, and cook. He only used Spark to light fires to cook with. Finally, he learnt Prestidigitation to do laundry, clean things, and make the things he burnt taste nice.

He also made a collection of little, strange looking toys for his baby sister. Animals, tea sets, fairies.

Needless to say, after less than a month his mother and younger sister Venice 'recovered' and since then he has leant Unseen Servant and Mount to help out more, though he does miss fire, a Big Brother has responsibilities.

Noooo
I'm stuck at the doctors and not going to make it!!!

Being in different timezones sucks ass.

10 hour warning at 3:50am Saturday morning. My punishment for sleeping in :c

I'm amazed of how distracted I keep getting from this character.

Her name is Veronica Belle, an Empricist Investigator and a Green Hag Changeling with the Witchborn alternate trait for more INT.

I'm going in the direction of either Missing Child or Drug Addict.

Missing Child would be another Changeling, either one she adopted because she saw herself in the child.

Drug Addict only became an option when I found out there is an extract I can make that makes a creature addicted to a certain stuff, and thought her end goal having Lamm get addicted to his own drug was an interesting idea.

She is being built to be a duel wielder, gun and dagger, though that sword cane is super tempting and thematically awesome.

What I love about Investigators is that they have access to all extracts in their list if their INT is high enough, they just can't make them until higher level. Which is kind of weird when you think about it.

She wears gloves that are meant to hide but really kind of flatter her clawed fingers. I'm imagining more Gargoyle claws than sharp fingernails.

Ever since the disappearance of her daughter, she's focused completely on finding her, and her extracts reflect that.

In process of reading a few guides about Talents and what feats, traits etc go well with the character, campaign, and class.

As we aren't level 1 does this mean we don't get anything that says 'at level 1' I our classes?

Eg my sorcerer doesn't have the bonus feat or bloodline power?

If I can find the sources I'll definitely make a character.

Gotta get me some sci-fi pi :D

** spoiler omitted **...

I think we would make awesome BFFs. Her needs someone who gets his love of fire, though your character looks like she's a little bit more haphazard than mine. He doesn't accidentally burn things very often, especially since his little sister came along.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So I'm planning on making an Ifrit Sorcerer who's personality is kind of a cross between Rainbowdash and Peter Pan.

Easily excited, thinks that they can do anything, gets bored easily, loud and upfront, talks a lot. Party trick of picking things out of fires (fire resistance 5)

- How would you describe yourself in a single sentence?
"Awesome! No, wait…! Definitely awesome."

- How did you end up in Sandpoint? Born here, moved here...?
"We moved here right before my little sister was born. For work or something. And to be closer to the water. We go to the beach a lot. It’s super boring, things don’t catch fire very well at the beach. But Venice needs to learn to swim, so that’s ok."

- Who do you live with? Family, foster parents, siblings...?
"Mum, Dad, Venice, and soon another one! Mum says it’s the last one though. But that’s what she said about Venice. I don’t think Mum and Dad know what they are doing sometimes which is why I help out a bunch."

- What do you want to do when you grow up?
Uhhh. Travel! No! No! Travel and fight monsters! I wanna slay a dragon! Or a lich! Or a dragon lich! Dad says I should be a blacksmith, which I will definitely think about thinking about. You do spend all day melting stuff… Which is cool. But not as cool as fighting a Lich Dragon!

- Who is your best friend? (hint hint, you may do joint backgrounds...)
Leaving open

- What is your favorite scary tale?
"Pff, I don’t get scared but Venice’s favourite scary story is Sleeping Beauty, cause it has a dragon. Really don’t like the ones about the haunted island."

- Who is the most awesome person ever, and why is she Shalelu Andosana?
Miss Shalelu is the bravest, strongest, most mysterious and beautiful person in all of Varsia. Maybe even the world! She does what she wants, flying through the trees like woosh except you can’t hear her.

She can shoot the wings off a fly from 500ft! And her bow has secret magic powers. I heard she can feel when someone is looking at her from across the room. She doesn’t care what people think or say about her, even though it’s all good stuff! And she lives in the forest! How cool is that?! I’m not allowed in the forest, ever. Cause I might set it on fire by accident."

Creating a Halfing Gunslinger (Techslinger) with the Stargazer campaign trait.

Bases of chick who loves her tech and really likes using it, specifically to blow holes in things, but disintegrating them works well too.

Was already working on a ranged focused character for another campaign so have feat tree pretty sorted, just need to add in those lovely bonus feats.

Rolling HP

HP: 4d10 ⇒ (10, 10, 5, 1) = 26

Very nice

Well done to all that got selected!

Dotting again for my Investigator Changeling!

@DM waz up?
What's the deal with the Gather Information skill?

Dotting interest fr an Aasimar Inquisitor

Rolling wealth

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 3) = 16 * 10 = 160

A little above average, which is good.

Array 1:

4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 3) = 16 - 3 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 3) = 15 - 2 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 4) = 15 - 2 = 13

4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 2) = 12 - 1 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 4) = 17 - 3 = 14

13 pt buy

Array 2:

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 5) = 19 - 2 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 4) = 18 - 2 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 2) = 8 - 2 = 6
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 5) = 13 - 2 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 5) = 13 - 1 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 1) = 13 - 1 = 12

A little less than a 24 point buy (doesn't go as low as 6 lol)

I'll take array 2!

I too have started WotR at least twice, never made it very far at all.

Now what to do with that 6...

Thinking maybe an Ifrit Inquisitor of Sarenrae. Maybe going Immolator.

All her domains and even the Redemption Inquisition look tempting XD

What I'm reading sounds more like an mmorpg than a tabletop or paper and die roleplay.

Like a grind without a deeper story.

Probably because you can't definitely finish it. Getting to the top is the goal for every player, so that then creates conflict in between players.

Most probably because it started as a Deadman Wonderland fan game, it sounds a lot like a shonen.

It would be interesting to add the aspect that your crime determines your 'class skills'. Though I guess if its DMW based then they might be innocent.

I'd be interested in seeing what the leveling system is for each power. Some sound really unbalanced. Like why can one person create smoke or spores from their body but the water person can't even when the human body is mostly water?

It would be interesting to see a multi talent tree or something similar. Lead to combining of abilities, like gestalt or VMC.

I would like to see what you habe before I keep spouting stuff you might already have XD

Rolling health

1d8 ⇒ 2

Boo.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

This is what got me the right level of pumped to really make a character. Cause Dwarves are awesome! If anyone wants some inspiration :P

So my idea for a character is that a short, timid, workaholic who always gets pushed around or knocked over just because she doesn't speak up and is really short (like 5'3") dies and becomes a huge (not sure on exact height but definitely over 10ft tall) barbarian/brawler chick.

She is a massive bookworm, and uses it as escapism. When she decides to change her life, she signs up for a self defense class but misses her stop due to being absorbed in a book.

She gets off at the wrong stop and gets mugged, where she is stabbed and bleeds out. When she's dying a crowd gathers and she thinks it's typical that when she's covered in blood is the only time people notice her.

Still shy, but her body has all muscle memory so she auto-reacts to being attacked. But whoever is responsible didn't want her running away again, so she has relatively low intelligence, and can't read. Even when someone casts a spell that allows her to read, her low intellect makes it super boring.

I'd like her to be the massive chick that just adventures with a bunch of other people who get her into all kinds of trouble. Like using her to win money for arm wrestling or strength challenges and stuff.

Well if this doesn't sound interesting.

I think something that'd be fun to roleplay would be an average guy, the kind that isn't capable of killing people. He wakes up and just finds that he's completely immortal. Tarasque regeneration levels with the whole slew of immunities. No real way of killing folks, just an average guy that cant die. I can just see, the whole group is standing in front of the Ruler, crazy lookin, cool characters. Then there's me, just standing in the middle of all the craziness. The Ruler asks "An what's his deal." and my character just shrugs and says "Well I can't die it seems." The Ruler asks "Well can you show me?" to which I respond "Hell no... Bloody hurts."

So yeah, level 1 Immortal commoner. Sounds fun too me.

Have you read and/or seen RE: Zero? It's a manga and anime. Your character concept makes me think of it.

Lol it made me think of the Yellow Dragon in Yuna of the Red Dawn XD

Just so I can panic accurately, when's the deadline?

Took me ages to find a class that I connected with that wasn't already chosen.

Am going Investigator (Cartographer)

So core divine casters are paladin and cleric right?

I'll go cleric as you seem to have melee sorted with the fighter and barbarian.

Dwarven Cleric (Ruins domain) with an interest in archeology? He'd second as a doctor with curing wounds, because he is technically a Doctor, as in has a doctorate but in archeology not medicine.

If Ruins isn't allowed seeing as I can't find a god of that domain then it'll be Travel (exploration) probably of Abadar or Artifice with Torag.

Ruins seems more flavor relevant.

When you say bonus points to a certain thing does that mean that we get actual bonus spending points or you're just more likely to pick our Character?

Could you include the timezone for the deadline please?

Are we rolling wealth, taking the average, or the max?

I know we are doing x100 not x10 but don't know what I'm multiplying :P

Dwarves are great.
What about Duergar? Will they be considered too?

Sweet thank you.

See today is Wednesday here so there's like 8 hours left of Wednesday.

Good to know that it's tomorrow.

Could someone let me know how long we have left in hours?

The DM didn't include a timezone.
