INACTIVE - GAME DIED
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Ah, epic boxed text, as was handed down to us by our ancestors from times of yore
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Light crossbow attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
*plink*
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Small light crossbow attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
*doink*
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Light crossbow attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Tam misses again.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam takes the opportunity to take a shot at one of the hill giants. Why not? They're blind for the moment anyway.
Light crossbow attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Moving and unable to use PC currently.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam starts making weird, slow gestures that leave bright contrails in the air.
Hypnotic pattern, hit dice affected: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (3, 4) + 9 = 16
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam drops greater invisibility on Mouser once more in anticipation of more stabby violence.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Why do we need to activate it if it's evil?"
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam shoulders his crossbow, saunters up to the fallen troll, and deploys an acid splash cantrip.
Acid splash damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Remember that the troll is blinded by my gloomblind bolt, so he has a 50% miss chance on all of those melee attacks.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Tam idly fires a crossbow bolt at the troll, but he doesn't really try that hard as he figures that the team has it handled.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Gloomblind bolt ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Gloomblind bolt damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 4) = 22
Tam slams a bolt of shadowy illusion into one of the other ogres to slow it down.
Ref save DC 21 or blinded for 1 round.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"If you want," says Tam.
Honestly pretty unhappy about the s#!! railroad.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
I can always cast it twice back-to-back for 18 minutes of duration.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Everyone ready or do we need some last-minute preparations before I cast the spell?" asks Tam.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Up to nine minutes, if we don't screw anything up," replies the gnome. "So we'll have to hustle, but we will be able to see each other. Everyone will need to stay fairly close to me, but at least we won't trip over one another's feet."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Also, as bad as the smell is, that might help disguise us from guard hounds or giants with an unusually keen sense of smell," says Tam. "Plus the noise of the cart-wheels can cover for the sound of our footsteps." He nods to Mouser. "Smart thinking."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"I can use group invisibility again, assuming none of the giants have especially keen hearing or vision," suggests Tam.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Too large for me to just turn the bodies invisible," says Tam. "Honestly I'm a bit stumped. It seems like we want to get to the head of the leadership so that this army will fall apart, but I don't know the best way to do that."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Someone wanna murder these guys... ?"
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Well, that answers my question of why all the giants are gathered here.
"Looks like Volstus already has his army," says Tam. "This is... bad."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"I wonder what's brought so many giants together in the first place?" muses Tam. "A central strong leader? A story or myth that's brought them all here, now? A magical artifact exerting influence on them?"
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Glad it worked," whispers Tam. "But, uh, now that we're here... where do we go next?"
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam squints, strokes his goatee, and thinks.
"I could try another rainbow pattern on the giants," says Tam. "Might keep a few of them occupied, and the others would of course try to figure out what's going on. Unfortunately I don't really have a spell to create a specific image or distraction."
While Tam's an illusionist, he focuses principally on spells that enthrall or grant invisibility, and he doesn't actually have any spells that make images!
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Can your big hammer smash the gate down?"
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Can try for the shift change, or I can drop an invisibility sphere and we can go in now and try to catch them immediately," says Tam. "We have no idea how they're organized in terms of alarm response and reinforcements."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
I think this team is gonna have Tony for breakfast before I finish casting that phantasmal killer.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Hit it while you can!"
Knowing that the rainbow pattern will last a short time without further concentration, Tam next fires off a phantasmal killer at the retreating cat.
DC 21 Will save. If that passes, no effect; if it fails, DC 21 Fort save. If THAT passes, 3d6 damage; otherwise, instant death.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
As soon as Tam sees the cats starting to circle and wander, he releases his rainbow pattern spell. Shimmering lights like a moving aurora flash into existence and slowly continue to move away, enticing the cats further from the barricade and closer to the group.
DC 21 Will save. Any who fail will follow the rainbow pattern, fascinated by it. Hopefully if at least one follows we'll get all of them to come over.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"I can cast a rainbow pattern out by the tigers and then make it move to come out to an ambush spot. Any tiger hypnotized by it will follow it. It'll be visible to other guards, though—can't do much about that."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Hmm. A fortification. One might even call it a hill giant steading," says Tam after Mouser reports back.
"How do we want to do this? If we can get up onto the ridgeline, we might be able to ambush the ettin and hill giant, perhaps we can take them out quietly without alerting the fort."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Ranged touch attack, into melee: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 4 = 17
Tam beams another flash of blinding illusory light into the cyclops.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Was outta town over the weekend, got second vax shot, now dealing with the low-grade side effects, sorry for being scatterbrained.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Since the cyclops seems to favor a ranged weapon, Tam decides to return the favor with a brief blast of intense illusionary light.
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Blinding ray: If this hits, the cyclops is blinded for 1 round. No save.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"I suspect the manticore will hate everyone equally, but we could see if it at least claws up the giants a bit if we cut it loose," says Tam.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam moves out of the cloud and tries to regain his composure.
"Well that went well enough, I think," he says, "aside from all of the gagging and retching."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Concentration check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Tam gags, retches, and loses his concentration on his spell.
Notably, though, rainbow pattern has a duration of Concentration + 1 round/level, so it keeps going for now.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam continues concentrating on his rainbow pattern.
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Hmm. Firbolg and ogres. Right."
Tam wiggles his fingers and throws down a rainbow pattern to hypnotize the ogres.
I believe that's Will save DC 21!
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam says, "I could definitely use a nap and a sandwich. Maybe we'll learn more about this building as we search it further. For now let's just find a safe place to rest."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
"Whew."
"Balmir I think you're gonna need some new trousers."
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
A flat +4 will hit.
Gloomblind bolts damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 6) = 12
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Sure. I keep forgetting about hero points because I'm never in games that use 'em. What do I do?
INACTIVE - GAME DIED
Tam mutters imprecations about mindless creatures and unleashes another salvo of gloomblind bolts.
Ranged touch attack, into melee: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 4 = 5
Oozes typically have a low touch AC, but not that low, so wasted a 3rd level spell.
