I know this is an old thread, but does anyone who ran this remember roughly how long it took?

Several posts say 5 hours, a few say 7. But anyone else who remembers, I would love to know.

I agree. Keeps him back and helps us out.

Try 5-99 Paths We Choose.

This was it. Thanks for the help. Both here and GM Shared Prep.

@TwilightKnight and Nefreet: It's a new character with an old bonus. I played "The Paths We Choose" almost 6 years ago. I just never used that part of the chronicle until (apparently) I made this other character.

Also, it's a total my bad for not following the instructions and "providing a copy of this chronicle" as per the instructions.

2/5

Library of the Lion is the only scenario I've played that is kind of like what I'm looking for. Sneak in, find the hidden thing, grab it and get out, no one else knows. The Disappeared also has that sort of feel, sneaking in and all that, but are there any others that would work well for this sort of thing?

2/5

So I was reviewing one of my lesser used PFS characters and noticed that it has 3 traits (one combat, one social, one faction). So I thought, why does it have 3? Then I remembered that there are some chronicles that exist that let you give another character (usually new ones) free traits. I started digging through my chronicle sheets and couldn't find anything that did that. The trait in question is Whistleblower, a Liberty's Edge faction trait.

So I'm hoping the collective knowledge of the Pathfinder world can help me out and point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Farmageddon

I would say that if Paladin's got this ability at first level, it would be vaguely worded. But since they get it at 2nd level, it would without a doubt be 1d6 added every even level.

Thanks to all for all the suggestions.

I used to be really good at this stuff, but nothing compares to the gold that can be dug out of the hive mind...

So here is the synopsis of the class: Luck
The class focuses around a core ability that I am calling Twist Fate. It allows them to re-roll some dice and add bonuses to d20 rolls. This obviously starts out really low, but then increases as they go. They also get a lot of "didn't hit me" stuff (evasion, uncanny dodge, resiliency) and some skill based stuff (jack of all trades, a modifier inspiration mechanic). Also some other smatterings of abilities (deep pockets renamed The Right Tool for the Job).

The feeling I'm going for here is an always prepared sort of character; has the ability to fill in skills, has minor spell-casting, survives things that they shouldn't. (Might make it an archetype, haven't decided)

So, after the rambling, any ideas on a name?

Farmageddon

I won't be around much until Tuesday. The convention I help organize is this weekend, lots to do. I should be able to get Kar leveled up by then, though. Who'd have thought, level 10 already?

You possibly had an Extra Trait boon of some sort, whether the generic Extra Trait, or something earned in a scenario such as 5-99. Check your more used characters to see if you had such sheets?

I've been checking their chronicles, to no avail.

But I was hoping to get more scenarios that specifically that give those (like the 5-99 you mentioned) so I could check in a more targeted fashion.

I can't say that I honestly have been keeping track. I don't remember what (if anything) was decided. I don't have a problem with the return of the Lady Vampire.

Farmageddon

Jack should get first pick of defensive stuff since he's the front line fighter here, my opinion.

Guys, just putting this out there - I'm tinkering around with some 2nd edition in Roll20 on Saturdays - probably be early afternoon EST. I barely know anything about 2E, but enjoy figuring it out by playing. If anyone's interested let me know. Tap tried it once and may still be speaking to me...

Give me a heads up on when, and I might be available to jump in.

I'm available to play live this weekend. Especially easy because my wife is out of town (i know I know). I've love to have a session, if people would be interested.

I'm afraid I'm out this weekend. I've got my normal IRL group on Saturday and Easter on Sunday.

Farmageddon

Weekends work best for me. Rotating Saturdays and Sundays (which I know is annoying) since my IRL games are still going.

session via Zoom or something?

I would be very interested. I can't commit to any sort of regularity, but I'd be down for even a few one-shots until all of this is over.

It would, however, probably destroy the vague images I have in my brain of all of your appearances. But that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Also, I'd recommend discord.

Farmageddon

I was surprised at the things missing here in IL. NO CASES outside Chicago area (which is over 2 hours away) and there is no toilet paper, pasta, rice, liquid hand soap, peanut butter, or frozen pizzas. Orange juice, milk, eggs, bread, potatoes are in abundance. But not FROZEN PIZZAS! Who tries to survive a pandemic on Jack's pizza?

But I hope you're all doing well and not getting caught up by the chaos. I'm just waiting for the first panic related crimes to start being commited.

Yeah, so much drier, in fact, that you get rampaging fires. Too much water in the south. Here in the middle of the country, we just get out of control winds.

Hope everyone is safe and sound, though, no matter what happens around you.

Good idea. I don't think I mentioned it, but Rush has been carrying around about 300 books this whole time.

Farmageddon

Got it on Sunyata.

I am around, I just don't check the games much on the weekends because of life stuff. Also, I won't be able to level up until tomorrow (Tuesday), just an FYI, but I'm good to continue regardless.

Farmageddon

I'm going to be going dark for most of next week; family, holidays, travel, yada yada yada. Feel free to bot me as needed.

Farmageddon

I once GM'd a PFS game with a witch and a mesmerist in it. Between the two of them every combat basically came down to waiting for the PC's to kill off the bad guys.

Farmageddon

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Yeah, I know, I listen to the GCP and A&A, caught up on both. Been to a live show too. May become a patreon donor, we'll see.

It's the way they phrased it doesn't make any sense, hence the confusion.

Fair enough

I know these exist elsewhere (see bottom of post), but I figured instead of every single actual play posting their own thread, we could try and condense them to make them easier to find. And I'll start with ours.....

SHIELD BASH on PodBean
An actual play podcast playing the Serpent's Skull Adventure Path.

When do we post?
Every two weeks on Saturday mornings. Next one will be 11/16/2019.

Where can the episodes be found?
Google podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, PodBead, and iTunes (of course).

Other details
We have 5-6 players. Started at the beginning of the story.
We are also one all of the following areas:
YouTube
Twitter @bashshield
Face Book

Also, for those of you interested in such a thing, this was linked to our Twitter a while back, but I can't remember who made it. But it is not us, so no credit claimed.

Guys, if you're cool with it, I'd like to start using these rules:

1. I'd like to use some variant crit rules - here
2. Crit hits that are not confirmed are MAX damage
3. Crit fumbles when shooting into melee with a ranged attack could hit your ally...just need to figure out the percentile for that

I'll carry over my opinion from the Skull's and Shackles post.

Summary:
1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Strong no

Farmageddon

Forewarning on vehement opinion.

I HATE SHOOTING ALLIES. It makes shooting into combat, throwing into combat, etc, not fun. It makes being in combat not fun having to worry about your allies accidentally hitting you. I'm cool with the other two rules (we use the critical hit and fumble decks IRL).

Can I ask for a compromise? Fumbles when shooting into melee if you don't have precise shot.

Farmageddon

Alternately, what if instead of a ship, you make the image of a creature? That way it can partially submerged and you won't need to use as many squares to show it.

Something like a sea dragon or something.

Farmageddon

Okay, the +1 armor that I mentioned before, I'd like that to be a +1 Studded Leather. What would be the wait time on that?

Also, does anyone object to me taking the Ring of Swimming? Rush is pretty terrible at swimming.

Farmageddon

I'm not in any rush to get moving. Still trying to figure out what all to buy. Since no one has expressed an opinion on the split for the harpoon, I'm going to add the 2,250 gp from a 4 way split to my gold total.

Now with my Ring of Sustenance, Rush doesn't have to worry about going hungry any more.

I'd also like to pick up a wand of Air Bubble (1st level spell, 750 gp).

And probably some +1 armor (I'll have to research on type).

Farmageddon

RAW, the ability to do the hydraulic push doesn't count as an enhancement bonus. So it is a +1 weapon with an extra ability. Taking it up to an effective +2 weapon would only cost you the difference in cost, so $6,000. Still short, but not by as much. And again, that's rules as written, Nayr obviously has final say.

That being said, I'd be willing to chip in some gold. Probably around 1 to 1.5 thousand.

We never got any input on splitting that Vindictive Harpoon. Are we splitting it just between the characters, or some for the ship fund as well?

Farmageddon

That's 4090.5 gp, 562sp and 8pp per PC.
Plus an additional 2,250 gp from the sale of the harpoon split 4 ways? Or do we want to split that up into the Ship fund as well? That would be 1,800 gp split five ways.

Now I need to find out what to buy....any suggestions? I don't really do combat stuff, so a weapon would not be super useful. Maybe a metamagic rod........

As for the ram, I like the idea of a thunder cloud with a lightning bolt coming out of it. Or a giant fist with an extended middle finger. But the cloud/lightning would be more thematic.

Farmageddon

So you just want to do a "party fund" out of the plunder instead of the loot? I can go for that. Six one way, half a dozen the other.

Farmageddon

Sale Totals:
2,810 SP
14,362 GP
42 PP

OPTION 1
If split 4 ways:
702 sp each
3,590 gp each
10 pp each

Leftovers: (weirdly, always two)
2 sp
2 gp
2 pp

OPTION 2
If the "ship and crew" get an equal share (so split 5 ways):
562 sp each
2,872 gp
8 pp each

Leftovers:
0 sp
2 gp
2 pp

I know we don't have to cut in the crew, but a group fund is often a good idea. Or we could consider it the Rickety fund, money to pay him back.

Dont think it was your fault. I tried the link in her profile to see about that amulet. Didn't work for me but the one she just posted did.

Farmageddon

I'll happily take the amulet. Won't ever turn down an AC bump.

That being said, I don't know what Sunyata's AC is. If we're tied, she should take it being the more front line person anyway.

Farmageddon

Thanks for doing that Jack. I looked through the list and didn't see any of the items I claimed. So I'm good to sell it all (mostly). I think Sunyata should take the Bracers of Armor +1 if she doesn't already have any.
And the "1 spider climb" and "1 disguise other". What are they? Potions? Scrolls? Either way, those are pretty useful. We should keep those around.

All jokes aside, I also don't have time to dig through it all to figure out what we are and are not selling.

Farmageddon

Or even better than 100 pairs of boots, 200 right boots.

The peg leg doesn't need a boot.

Farmageddon

Been trying hard to think of what to buy with my 1,000 gp. It's a lot of money, but at the same time, very little when you get into magical items and equipment.

Do we have any restrictions on what we're allowed to buy?

Farmageddon

I did make it up. Nsyr got it, sparkly skin. Just keeping the joke running because I like dry humor
