![]() Let's say my slayer's bonus to will saves was -3 at level 1 due to very poorly rolled stats* (and they wont be getting much better due to low class save progression). What ways would there be to cope with / bypass this weakness? For example, I have already chosen to make the character an elf in order to become immune to magical sleep effects, covering that corner of will-based saves. Are there simple ways to become immune to other will-based effects?
Also curious to see what people's opinions are of how much the character's low will is likely to hurt him throughout his (possibly short) adventuring career. * We used 3d6 (no rerolls or dropping): My lowest stats were two 5s and an 9, so I dumped charisma and wisdom and put the 9 in intelligence (elf boosted to 11) because I really didn't want my slayer to be thick as a brick... the stats werent all bad mind you, getting 17(dex, elf boosted to 19) 16(con, elf dropped to 14) and 12(str) suited the martial nature of the weapon finesse/ranged slayer I was wanting to play. ![]()
![]() Planning on making a oni-themed bloodrager, specifically one with the elemental (fire) bloodline that uses high strength and a Tetsubo. Recognizing that the elemental bloodline has quite a few weak powers, I was thinking about trading out most of them using the primalist archetype. What rage powers would you recommend I pick up if i trade out my 4th, 12th & 16th powers? (Thinking I'd keep the extra speed from the 8th level power) PS: This is not for pfs, so suggest anything paizo-based. If you'd like more info to help you make informed suggestions, let me know :) ![]()
![]() Other than moving around, what are the best uses of your move action when using vital strike? Off the top of my head I can think of (improved) feinting, but what else do you think is a good use of your turn's move action? (I'm aware that many people don't think vital strike is very good, but please refrain from starting up conversations about why you do/dont think vital striking is a waste of time/feat investment, i'm merely looking for ideas on how make the most out of otherwise unused move actions during your turn.) ![]()
![]() Regarding the "must worship and receive spells from a deity" prerequisite, obviously you can qualify for it by being a cleric or other divine class, but are there any other ways to qualify for it? For example, deific obedience boons grant spells as spell like abilities from your deity, would that count? (Regardless of the answer, does anyone know of any/other ways a rogue can get Weapon of the Chosen without multiclassing?) ![]()
![]() I keep seeing conflicting things for this, so I'm asking if theres been any conclusion officially or otherwise regarding whether or not an arsenal chaplain can take the AWT feat. Specifically, i'd like this question answered: "At 6th level, can an arsenal chaplain use one of his bonus combat feats to select AWT: Fighter's Finesse?" Thanks in advance :) ![]()
![]() Making a true neutral warpriest that uses a kukri and slashing grace, what deities can people suggest? Are there any aligned spells, blessings, favored weapons, feats or traits which I should be considering when deciding what alignment & deity I pick? So far i've thought of two which i'm considering:
PS: This isnt PFS, so anything paizo is fine ![]()
![]() Does anything that grants the ability to channel energy "like a cleric" (or similar wording) count as the channel Energy class feature for feats like guided hand? I remember being told "channel positive energy" class features counted, but i'm unsure on things from other sources, like the empyreal archetype or the solar bloodline for sorcerers. ![]()
![]() 1) Half Orc / Half Elf:
2) Half Elf - Dragon Soul Trait: "half-elves with this trait also count as dragons for the purposes of effects targeting creatures by type"

![]() I've got a 14th level CE Warpriest that focuses on dual wielding kukri with weapon finesse. He's recently betrayed his deity in such a way that the GM has decided he can no longer take levels in warpriest, but due to the unique nature of his betrayal, he's managed to "steal" enough of his deity's power to keep the full benefits of his current warpriest levels. (depending on whether or not I complete a side quest, I may or may not be able to resume taking WP levels before the campaign ends without worshipping the deity). Things my GM has allowed me to do:
Ideally I'd be looking at taking something full BAB that benefits from my high Dex & Wis - Monk would have been good for giving me wis to AC, but we already have a martial artist monk / rogue in the party and we all agreed I should pick something different, and the CE (possibly becoming NE or CN) alignment prevents me from taking other monk archetypes. Any Suggestions for full-BAB dips or prestige classes? Preferably that make some use out of having high wisdom? (wis to AC or something equally useful would be good but open to any suggestions.) Edit: He's also willing for my character to shift to True Neutral, as well as CN or NE. ![]()
![]() When storing a spell in a warhammer using the blessed hammer feat, can you target yourself (or the hammer) as the target of the stored spell, and if so what action is it to trigger it? I'm wondering if the normal process of "standard action to cast + free to discharge as a touch attack" means this would be "Standard action to cast + swift to store in hammer, then free action to discharge" (given that you're already touching the hammer and it would be a free action on the melee attack) which i'm sure is wishful thinking, so I'm curious what people think: free action? swift action (like paladin lay on handsing himself)? standard action? Not possible? ![]()
![]() It was my understanding that flurry of blows doesnt stack with anything that grants additional attacks, but I keep stumbling across old threads stating the opposite so I thought I'd ask here for something more up-to-date and hopefully more accurate. If I made an unchained monk 1 / Ninja 2 with "rapid shot" and "flurry of stars", how many ranged attacks could it make with a shuriken in 1 round? Silly Attacks: If all stack (i think) it would be:
Iterative = 1 Flurry = +1 Flurry of Stars = +2 Rapid Shot = +1 Ninja Ki Point = +1 Total = 6

![]() Weapon Stats: 1d4 - x2 - 20ft - S or P - Disarm, Grapple, Monk, Reach Benefit: The blade can be used as an off-hand melee weapon or thrown like a dagger, while the rope and circlet can be whipped around and swung at opponents as a bludgeoning reach weapon. - So, let me see if I understand this, the kyoketsu shoge is a Two-Handed Slashing & Piercing Reach Weapon as per its stats. (1.5x str when used in this way) But if you hold it in both hands you can use one hand to attack with it as an "off-hand" slashing & piercing weapon (that can be thrown at a range of 20 feet like a dagger). And if you hold it in both hands you can use one hand(?*) to attack with it as a bludgeoning reach weapon. (Presumably x1 str?*) - I'm assuming when using it like a dagger, since it specifically states "off-hand" you would only gain 0.5x str to damage, as per the "You normally add only half of your Strength modifier to damage rolls made with a weapon wielded in your off-hand" rule. So, what about this understanding is correct, if anything? :) * I'm also not sure whether or not attacks with the bludgeoning circlet would actually be "one-handed" since it doesnt specifically say so, so I dont know if it'd be x1 str or x1.5. ![]()
![]() "Mighty Strike: Whenever the heritor knight makes a melee attack as a standard action, she can apply the effects of Improved Vital Strike to that attack." "Dual Strike: As a standard action, you can make two attacks, one with each weapon you’re wielding, applying the normal penalties for two-weapon fighting to each." Are each of Dual Strike's attacks an attack made with a standard action and would it therefore work with Mighty Strike? ![]()
![]() "If the spelleater gains an increase to damage reduction from a bloodline, feat, or other ability, he is considered to have an effective damage reduction of 0, and the increase is added to this effective damage reduction." If you pick the Undead bloodline, at 8th level death's gift gives DR 10 against nonlethal. Someone at my table was convinced this would instead give the character DR 10/- (against all damage) thanks to the spelleater archetype adding it to its existing 0 DR. Is this the case? ![]()
![]() 1) Do classes like the paladin that get "channel positive energy" qualify for feats that require the channel energy class feature like crusader's flurry and guided hand? 2) Does a life oracle's Channel ability count as channel energy for crusader's flurry and guided hand? 3) Aside from Crusader's Flurry, is there a way to treat a weapon as a monk weapon? (mainly for the purpose of using it with ascetic style) ![]()
![]() The 12th level Abyssal Bloodline power "Abyssal Bloodrage" increases the strength granted by bloodrage and increases the penalty to AC. The Urban Bloodrager Archetype makes it so your bloodrage can increase Dex instead and removes the ac penalty. So if a character with both is 12th level, how do the two interact? 1) When using controlled bloodrage do you take a:
2) If you choose to increase Dexterity when you bloodrage, do you get:

![]() Is there any archetype that gives a character both sneak attack and access to hexes? I like the idea and was wondering if it already existed, if not i'll probably homebrew a slayer that gets hexes instead of slayer talents or a rogue that does something similar. I thought i'd ask here before doing that though. ![]()
![]() So im playing a 12th level barbarian, and we just found out the final BBEG is a dragon. Ive just gained a level, and may even gain another before facing the dragon, and I'd like to spend the levels putting everything towards my effectiveness at slaying it, or more accurately surviving it. What would you recommend in terms of dipping classes (plus archetypes) and feats to make it so my character is still standing at the end of the campaign? (PS - The dragon is likely to not be aligned to any particular element, so dont just suggest elemental resistance.

![]() Playing a CRB only game, thought I'd try a cleric aimed at dishing out damage with spells. (Ideally i'd have played an oracle for divine blasting, but what can you do.) 1) So, what CRB domains would you recommend for a cleric attempting blasting? 2) Is channel negative energy worth attention? (or investing in charisma?) 3) Any other advice you could give me? (Keeping in mind CRB only) PS, dont worry about gods, I can pick up any domains I want and homebrew a god into existence. (Bonus Question: If i have a -3 penalty to charisma, can I never channel energy?) ![]()
![]() Spoiler: I am unclear as to what the up-to-date ruling for gauntlets are, so:
I have seen many contradictory threads about what applies to gauntlets and what does not, with developers chiming in to state their intent for what similar items do, (or possibly what gauntlets do, its unclear).
Gauntlets in their description say "This metal glove lets you deal lethal damage rather than nonlethal damage with unarmed strikes. A strike with a gauntlet is otherwise considered an unarmed attack. Your opponent cannot use a disarm action to disarm you of gauntlets." they also come under "unarmed attacks" in the weapons chart. However, there have been developer comments saying that spiked gauntlets, cestus, rope gauntlets and possibly gauntlets should be treated as light melee weapons instead. 1) Are they treated as unarmed strikes or light melee weapons?

![]() Ive got a pure fighter vital strike build that uses Power attack + furious focus and Combat Expertise + Swordplay style, so my vital striking always hits and I get some nice bonuses. I'm concerned that my AoO will be much harder to land, even with the high attack bonuses of a fighter. Does anyone know of a way to do something else in place of an AoO - something that wont take the penalties from combat expertise and power attack? ![]()
![]() I'll be dipping barbarian on my greataxe fighter (grabbing 2-4 levels) and thus i'll be picking up some rage powers. I was wondering what would be good selections for one or two rage powers bearing in mind my barbarian level wont be going very high. (Ive tried looking at guides but it seems the powers they recommend are recommended because they scale well with barbarian levels, which I obviously wont possess enough of for that to make a significant difference.) Can anyone think of one or two rage powers that would be good to pick up from a dip? Bonus Question: Anyone know of any prestige classes that require rage to enter? (Preferably with full BAB and some interesting abilities) ![]()
![]() 1) Does the Rage subdomain qualify you for activating the titan's rage mythic path ability as a free action, or does it not count as the rage class feature? 2) Does a bloodrager dip qualify you for activating the titan's rage as a free action? (the wording is ambiguous as to whether or not it counts as rage for everything or just most things, and i dont know if "mythic path ability effects" is one of them) If not, what are other ways for a paladin to get the rage class feature? (obviously I can't dip barbarian - being LG, but I know some archetypes can get it like the wild stalker ranger, and the viking fighter, but they require a 4 level dip, which is a bit much.) ![]()

If my infiltrator familiar can take feats (through spirit binder, or witch archetype) can it take Uncanny Ally to grant me uncanny dodge etc? The only issue I can see is that it gains uncanny dodge, but I don't know if that counts as the uncanny dodge "class feature". |
