Hi guys, yeah, sorry...it's been fun but I really am not able to keep up anymore. Feel free to keep Sigrun around as a NPC if you wish. Best of luck to everyone!
Sigrun catches the guard's blow on her shield, but the momentum throws off her counterstrike.
Seeing the dogs go down, Sigrun moves up towards the guards, swinging her shield clumsily as she goes to disrupt their crossbow fire.
"Even if it is the same Thora, we don't know for sure that she's dead", Sigrun says with her brow furrowed, "though perhaps it's likely. We should tell Nadya what we know, she probably knows more of what the witches are capable of."
At Paldo's words, Sigrun let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. "That's great. Let's get moving, then."
Sigrun nods with an expression wavering between confidence and nervousness. "Let's go, then we get out of here quick."
As fight draws to a close, Sigrun wipes the blood and brains off her shield, looking down at the corpses at her feet. "So much for not being fugitives. Let's get out of here." she mutters to herself.
Seeing as the fight is basically over, Sigrun moves back around to cut off the sergeant's last way out, blocking the stairway with her body, shield at the ready.
Sigrun is caught off guard as she follows behind the group, fiddling with her gear. Once she notices the fight start, she rounds on the closest guard to her, bludgeoning him over the head with a mighty two-handed blow from her shield.
"Hrm. Outsiders does sound like us. I don't think any of us are fugitives, though", Sigrun adds.
Not being familiar with Heldren, Sigrun doesn't notice the resemblance as readily, but she does feel her companions' sense of unease. "Hmm...well. Perhaps it's not a coincidence that the portal opened where it did, then. I wonder what else is similar between the two sides..."
Sigrun barely glances around at the premises, grumbling a quick thanks to the woman before burying her face in soup.
Sigrun freezes as she hears Nadya say the name of her missing daughter. The witch hut, and the doll...maybe the girl was still alive, but the chances didn't seem good, if the witches were involved.
Sigrun nods. "I spent some of my childhood in Kalsgard, as well. 'Traveler' sounds good. We aren't planning on staying here forever, after all." She doesn't, however, mention where they plan on going next.
"Come to think of it, we should probably come up with a story for why we're here. The truth might be...well, the truth, but it's not that believable, nor is it likely to find too much sympathy with the locals. We're lucky the first people we ran into were so friendly." Sigrun nods to Nadya. "So...any ideas?"
"Thank you, Nadya. We'll keep our heads down." Sigrun joins Garran in surveying the town while the others talk.
Sigrun stays silent as the blue one speaks, keeping her discomfort inside as she mentions the black rider. It seems like the bard would be out of the way soon enough, but hopefully they wouldn't have to fight eventually...
Sigrun nods in thanks to Nadya as they settle down, staying silent through the exchange and trying to keep watch on their surroundings as she eats. As the spots the newcomer, she alerts the group while signalling down the road, "Someone's coming." Looking to Nadya, assuming she's seen, Sigrun asks, "One of yours?"
"Right, let's go then." Sigrun wraps her furs around herself more tightly. Even though it's not quite as cold here yet as it had been on the other side, the sight of the approaching storm - and her memories of the winters of her childhood - send chills up her spine.
Sigrun stumbles up through the snow and swats at the mantis's claw with a heavy blow from her shield, hoping to get it to drop Horn.
Sigrun continues to move up carefully towards the giant creature, shield at the ready. [ooc]same as last round, can't reach the thing yet[ooc]
Don't worry about it...I think my last 3 posts here have disappeared as well. I blame those hungry little server goblins...
Seeing the rest of the party rushing to engage the giant bug, Sigrun instead moves up cautiously towards the downed man to see if she can help him in any way, shield at the ready to intercept any attacks.
Before stepping through the portal, Sigrun fiddles with her shield, making sure it's strapped on properly. By the time she's done and looks up, she's all alone. Quickly stepping through to join the others, she glances around at the surprisingly calm scene before turning her ears to the shouting.
"I can't make a thing with wood, either." Sigrun shrugs and watches as Garran improvises himself some protection. "Let's head back, and hopefully we don't see any more scary creatures out."
"The bandit's lair might be a good place to check. I don't think it'd be useful going back to town, though. Strange as it may seem, we are still in sunny southern Taldor. Wasn't much use for cold protection here before the portal opened."
Sigrun also jumps a little as Eladorn suddenly shifts into a giant black-armored figure and back. Responding to Paldo, she says, "Well, from what the Rider said, the hut itself is on display in the capital. So a bit less needle in a haystack, and more stealing the crown of the Grand Prince...but no less difficult, of course."
Sigrun looks on in part awe and part foreboding as Eladorn tries the mantle. Not seeing anything happen, she whispers loudly, "How do you feel? Is it doing anything?"
Like Linge, Sigrun can't help but grin at the turn of events. Still, the weight of what is to come is not lost on her - especially considering she'd nearly been tatzlwyrm lunch at the beginning of their journey. "We'll give our best to defeat Elvanna. I'm sure we can do it." Her promise sounds oddly confident, though at the same time as much reassuring herself as the dying herald before them.
Sigrun simply nods respectfully. She may not like this any more than Eladorn and the others, but she didn't see any other way out of this. And, besides, what a story it would be to take home...
Sigrun looks over at Eladorn, before speaking up. "I don't think there's much of a choice here. Baba Yaga may have done some horrible things to our lands and our people, but this Elvanna is trying to extend that to the entire world. It has to be stopped, one way or another. But..." looking back at the Black Rider, she asks, "I'm sure this Dancing Hut is going to be heavily guarded. What makes you think we can just go to the capital and grab it? Look at what happened to you, after all."
Sigrun listens in silence at the back-and-forth between the rider and her companions, while thinking back to the stories she grew up with, in case they could possibly help her understand just what is going on here.
Seeing the newcomer emerge from the portal, Sigrun readies her shield but nothing else. Their newest companion had come from the other side as well, after all...though this mounted figure didn't quite seem the same.
In the morning, Sigrun quickly glances over her spellbook before stowing it in her pack and joining the others. Looking over at the potions as she pulls her armor and furs on, she muses, "This could make it easier to travel...but I think we should save them for emergencies. We can handle the snow when we're not trying to fight those tiny fey, or giants, or whatever else is going to emerge from this blizzard next." She's also momentarily blinded by the shinies in the chest, but shakes her head dismissively - not much use for those out here.
"Ah...thanks." Sigrun hadn't noticed how badly she was hurt until Garran healed her - the adrenaline from the fight must not have fully worn off yet. Once that's done, she helps with the poking about in the cave, standing by as Eladorn opens some boxes in case something unsavory pops out.
Sigrun shakes her head at Linge. "Too unwieldy for me to use, unfortunately." She notices Paldo getting ready to settle down, and comments while glancing back uneasily at the portal, "Perhaps we shouldn't rest within sight of the thing, just in case they send reinforcements through."
Oh, wait, two-handed, didn't even notice. I can't use it then, considering my entire archetype is based around having a shield...oh well.
Linge turns to Sigrun with a questioning look, thinking that she might want to replace her shortspear. My spears are actually my ranged weapon (for all the good that's done so far) - I don't think this one can be thrown. That said, if nobody else wants it, I could probably make use of it.
From her spot next to Hal, Sigrun looks over to where Eladorn was pointing. "Oh." She visibly starts turning red as she stays silent.
Sigrun scans around, but doesn't seem to register anything around her. "Well, I don't see a portal anywhere." She finally moves over to Hal, kneeling and looking over the broken body with a look of sadness.

Sigrun begins heading over to Hal, but stops short as she sees and hears the newcomer. She replies in Skald: "Irrisen? We're not in - wait. The portal that the fey talked about. Did you come through that?" She looks at Eladorn suspiciously, but doesn't prepare to fight. If he doesn't even know where he is, he's probably not with the fey.
I'm not too sure about how this portal to the north works and how well it's guarded (we havent gotten there yet) but could you have possibly accidentally slipped through it?
Sigrun steps back, shocked, as the troll burns to a crisp before her eyes. "Whoa, I didn't expect...ok." She turns to see their other combatant flying off, but there's nothing much she can do to stop it.
Undaunted by her miss and the troll felling Hal, Sigrun strikes again, with better success this time.
Sigrun nearly crumples under the giant creature's attack, but Linge's timely magic restores her enough to stay calm and press the attack. Seeking a little extra damage, she channels her magic into her shield, and then strikes with it as it bursts into flame.
Sigrun wheels around and spots their new friend. "Great, something I can see." She stumbles up a bit further, still maintaining her defensive posture but ready to strike.
If damage roll comes up less than 1, it defaults to 1 non-lethal (source) :)
Still maintaining her defensive posture, Sigrun moves carefully towards the sound of fighting and yelling.
Still unable to see much through the blizzard, Sigrun moves up slowly, keeping her guard up.
