Breathing a sigh of relief that the major threat has been dispatched, Shigeru draws a second wand. With a sharp stabbing motion he jabs it into his thigh, discharging a bolt of positive energy that causes some of the inflammation across his face to fade away.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Shigeru mutters under his breath as he draws out a wand and a piece of licorice root.

Standard to cast haste on everyone but Karasuma, move to draw a wand.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

As Chomper sets the waterlogged Samsaran on the ground and begins tearing apart the ropes binding her, Shigeru eyes the seagull warily. After a moment's pondering he blinks and says "A bird feather token?"

Trotting over while keeping an eye out for more bombs and flinching as the fire flares, he unties the parchment from the avian's leg and reads it.

"Lady Li is in trouble. We need to find her quickly."

Hearing the anger in Chomper’s voice, Shigeru keeps an eye around the corner of the doorway as he begins to ready his crossbow for another shot. Glaring defiantly at the Xun as Kensaku dangles out the window, he points and incants, “Avian agility defies gravity. FEATHER FALL.”

Immediate action off turn.

Shigeru draws his crossbow from his bag, knocks a bolt, ducks around the corner, uses the alchemist's red scarf as a target, and fires. However, in attempting to keep out of the way of his foes' bombs, Shigeru fails to take enough time to aim and the shot goes wide.

Crossbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Gritting his teeth as his inflamed hand scrapes against the insides of his pocket, Shigeru draws out a shaving of licorice root. He holds it aloft and incants.
"Temporal flow is mine to command. Against our power you shall be damned! HASTE."

The root explodes into a cloud of dust as the final word is spoken and a shockwave of force emenates out from it that seems to slow the world down as it washes over the party.

Satisfied that the spell worked, Shigeru ducks through the door into the tea room.

I trust everyone knows what haste does. I have no line of effect to Karasuma and Chomper is out of range, but the rest of the friendlies get buffed.

"How the hell did they get by you!? Get in here!" Shigeru yells out the window to Chomper as the explosions begin to concuss him.

Reflex for fire: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

"Much appreciGAH! Kensaku!" he stammers as he beats at the flames singeing his jacket, "I'll help in SONOVAHOT!"

Would like to wait to see where Pratts and Darshan move before I take my full turn, if possible. Placement will determine spell usage.

"Hrm. It's always frustrating when fanatics are unwilling to negotiate. You weren't able to convince him to tell you how many more enemies we might be facing, did you? My magical resources are somewhat limited, so I have to be judicious in it's use."

I have rope and a pokey stick of feeling better that we could use. Only a 10 in UMD though.

"Wise thinking, friend consult." Shigeru replies as he walks into the room. Then as he pushes the eidolon back out the window, "Chomper, please be a dear and go patrol the area."

While the rest of the party works to mend their wounds, Shigeru searches the unconcious man for any distinctive markings or gear that might clue the group in on who he works for.

Shigeru sprints the final distance across the courtyard into the main building and yanks open the dining room door just in time to see the man in orange get slammed to the floor.

"...huh. Guess I missed all the action." he remarks.

Shigeru rounds the corner of the tower's doorway, preparing to head into the second floor when he sees the makeshift barricade. With a curse he sprints down to the first floor. On the way he mentally gives Chomper instructions.

As Shigeru chants the words of his spell and pours the iron powder he rotates slowly in a circle. The dusty substance falls slowly to the ground in intricately linked geometric patterns, directed by his magically charged will. Upon completing a full 360 degrees the lines connect to make a full magic circle which promptly bursts into flame as Shigeru incants the final words of "ENLARGE PERSON". The smoke from the fire quickly flows together into a single stream of gas and snakes its way down the side of the tower to engulf Chomper.
The spell complete, Shigeru rushes to make his way down to the lower floors in a much more mundane way than his eidolon.

Finish full round cast, double move to head down a floor. I assume the trap door would have been left open by the others in their hasty rush? Feel free to adjust my position as you feel to be appropriate for a 30 foot base speed.

"Oh, gods, how did they get so close without being spotted? Bloody mist." Shigeru mutters to himself as he pulls out a small pouch and gestures casually over the wall.
He begins an incantation as he pours a dull reddish powder out of the pouch in intricate designs on the ground around himself. "Size and mass magnified, square and cube now defied. Size and mass magnified, square and cube now defied. Size and..."

Shigeru collects his eidolon companion and the pair make their way to the top of the lighthouse tower. He stops short as he breaks the landing and sees Rika's spell being cast.

"A good ramble is nothing to apologize for, Karasuma. One can glean so many interesting tidbits if they listen properly." Shigeru comments warmly. "Perhaps you could tell me more of that trip to Ustalav later? I had not heard about it before and am most intrigued."

He then turns to the guest of honor. "Well met Master...ah...Tsuneo, is it? I couldn't quite follow along with those introductions very well as my studies fail me much the same as our tengu friend's have failed him. Rika has agreed to help teach your tongue though, so maybe we can make it a group session." He smiles as he seems to day dream about this for a moment before snapping back to reality. "Ah, forgive me, I am Shigeru Kotabe, native of the city of Absolom and member of the Society's dangerous research division."

He takes his cup of tea and peers into it before turning a serious and level gaze upon Tsuneo and continuing. "You will find that Lady Li's assessment of the Society's variety of experience extends beyond its members and even influences our structure. This allows for targeted resource allocation to best suit the needs of our friends and to ensure successful protection of the weak from those who would exploit or injure. How does this align with your Way of the Kirin?"

Following Amara's instruction, Shigeru has Chomper attempt to hide in a side room before their guest arrives and follows along as the group makes their way into the tea room. He places his bag on the floor near his cushion.

Linguistics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

With a slight smile on his lips he listens to the unfamiliar language intently and waits to be called upon before speaking, though he does nod in agreement at Amara's assessment of their organization.

Shigeru, somewhat worn from all the preparations, has Chomper to carry him down the hill towards the pier.

Shigeru, utilizing his empathic link with Chomper for coordination, sits on the ground and ever so slowly pushes the cauldron of hot water with his feet until it lines up perfectly with the murder hole in the master bedroom.

Wiping his brow, he hears the frustrated swearing from his compatriots as Karasuma calls for help. He and Chomper head up to see if there is anything they can do.

As Darshan and Karasuma explain the issue, an idea strikes Shigeru. "Hm. This might be a bit unorthodox, but I may be able to get Chomper to help out with this."

He pulls out a small green lizard scale and rubs it between his fingers. The dry and brittle thing crumbles to powder and Shigeru smears it on one of Chomper's tentacles as he incants. "Deep in the ether knowledge abounds, to find it one needs but look around. This wisdom now in the mind will fill, giving my companion needed skill. EVOLUTION SURGE."

As Chomper and Rika place the barricades on the second floor, Shigeru works to light up the fireplace using his flint and steel to begin boiling whatever liquids we have on hand, searching as necessary for firewood/oil/a water source.

Perception/Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Once the barricades are complete, Chomper focuses on weakening the floor of the master bedroom and front landing.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Not sure which rooms those are exactly. Can you mark them on the map and ensure that the barricades don't block them off, TOZ?

"The underground cave could be a viable escape route should we need one, assuming any enemies do not come out of it. Can we see about making a lock that would be easy to open from this side, but not the other?" Shigeru asks as he direct Chomper to help Rika with the furniture.

Are we worried about fliers? All the suggested barricades I see are on the second floor. And does anyone have Craft(Carpentry)? I assume we can't roll it untrained, so the catapult would be a lost cause.

Shigeru sub-vocalizes and his companions hear a buzzing voice in their ears. "I've found a secret passage in the fireplace on the ground floor. No obvious magic, so hopefully it won't explode on me here."

His companions informed, he gives it a once over for traps and locks before stepping back while having his eidolon open it.

Shigeru take ten perception: 10 + 10 + 2 = 22
Chomper perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Chomper take ten disable device, if needed: 10 + 12 = 22

This will need adjusted if there is a magical trap, as Chomper does not have Rogue Power(TM)

Shigeru and Chomper enter the lower floor's main room and work in tandem to search it thoroughly but quickly, utilizing Detect Magic/low-light vision combined with an Elixir of Vision and dark vision respectively.

Shigeru Perception: Detect Magic & Enhanced Low Light: 1d20 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 10 = 20
Chomper Perception: Dark Vision: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

The elixir will last for a hour. Please let me know when it wears off. Ideally Karasuma will enter first and check for traps, but posting now for expedience. In any case, Chomper will take point before Shigeru. Gotta protect the squishy.

Noticing Karasuma carefully working his way through the door frame of the lower floor in search of traps, Shigeru directs Chomper to follow, with himself just behind.

"We'd best catch up, Kensaku." he calls over his shoulder.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

"If time is of the essence, then we should split up gang to cover ground more quickly. Rika and Darshan can take the upper floor as Kensaku and myself take the lower while Lady Li and her helpers stay outside where it is hopefully safe. Preparations, however, are in order first." Shigeru states as he draws out a length of copper wire.

He points at each member of the party and Amara as he intones. "Gentle winds carry our words. To only our ears shall they be heard. As if on fluttering wings quick do they fly and through their sounds we are all the better to spy. MESSAGE." With a flick he silences the wire, which had begin to vibrate and hum as he cast the spell.

"There, now we should be able to let each other know if we run into some-...where's Karasuma? I didn't get him with the spell."

Shigeru sighs and looks off into the distance. Shigeru replies jovially,

The half-elf falls in line next to the tiefling as the group begins to make their way up the slope of the beach. He speaks in a slow and deliberate manner. "Excuse me, uh, Rika, was it? I notice your Taldane is a little bad. Are there languages you are more comfortable with? Other than what you spoke yesterday. I did not recognize that one."

Shigeru sits quietly as he listens to the discussion, methodically cutting into the fruit, pulling out another as he finishes the first, then the second, then the third. Finally finished, he tosses the cores to his eidolon who greedily devours them in a comical display of tug-of-war between their various mouths. He wipes his hands and blade on a clean handkerchief pulled from a side pocket on his backpack.

One by one he distributes the slices evenly among the gathered adventurers, smiling warmly at Darshan and Kensaku as he gives them their portions, and whispering a comment to the tengu to keep from interrupting the flow of the conversation.

At a lull, he finally interjects. "Shigeru Kotabe and Chomper reporting, Lady Li. Again, my apologies for being late. I have two questions thus far. One, what do you know of the contact you have alluded to? Have you had communication before, or was his letter out of the blue? Two, you have said that the Golden League is a criminal organization. Should a conflict with this Mikogu be unavoidable, is their clout with the local authorities sufficient enough that we should refrain from using lethal force?"

An exceptionally thin half-elf man of average height ambles into the room. He is dressed in an open red-chested white-sleeved shirt over shining mithral chain, a tight-fitting black shirt visible underneath. His durable looking blue cotton pants show a good deal of wear and tear, patches sewn over both knees; clearly the man is used to walking long distances.

"Sorry I'm late," he comments as he swings an excellently crafted backpack of white cured leather off his shoulder. The outer flap is embossed with two blue concentric circles, the larger one bisected by a vertical line. He removes his hat, colored to match his shirt, to reveal jet black hair and puts it in his bag. He then draws out a knife and apple and begins using the former to slice the latter.

"Chomper. Go collect the bodies of the fallen and put them in the main square. Be gentle about it too." Shigeru directs his eidolon before heading over to Becher. "I have no healing skills of my own, but I can ensure the bodies burn clean and complete. Chomper will direct the living to fetch someone to perform their last rights, but we cannot take too much time. Ghouls typically don't rise until the next midnight, but I have heard of the undead rising within minutes before. In the capital city no less. We can't risk something like that happening here."

"It would be best for you and your own to make the decision on what to do with Grald, I think. The Society holds no jurisdiction here." He pauses and looks out at the mist, obviously uncomfortable. "And that jurisdiction...I don't want to be insensitive given the tragedy that has occurred here, but it would be appreciated if we could discuss the reason my group came out here in the first place. If you feel up to it."

"Chomper! Ride by buff!" Shigeru calls out as he draws another piece of licorice root. He begins casting and waits for Chomper to get close enough to haste everyone in the building.

Standard action to ready to cast haste, no need for a move action.

Shigeru hears the moans of the undead and gives a mildly panicked look out the door as the temporal spell fades. "Dead deities, ghouls!" he swears and draws a wand.

"You!" He points at the unfriendly soldier, "Your captain is unconscious. Help us fight those monsters and I'll include you in my haste spell!"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

This is season 0, so I can totally use 3.5 diplomacy rules and standard action to make a request, right?

I believe you target squares with the Haste spell, so if you hadn't moved I could have buffed you, Darshan. :P Luckily I have an in character reason to delay a turn and have you become visible first.

Shigeru follows his eidolon in an attempt to stay within its protective reach. Moving up behind Kensaku he realizes he doesn't have a clear shot on the soldiers and opts to reload his crossbow instead of throwing a hunk of ice at them. "Where are you at Darshan!?" he calls out. "Haste is about to wear off, but I can cast it again!"

With the southern door open and Chomper dealing with the western threat, Shigeru reloads his crossbow, sidesteps, and fires at the soldiers distracted by Darshan.

Shigeru puts his shovel away and pulls his crossbow off his back. Taking a knee, he draws a bead on the soldier dressed in green accents and fires.

Shigeru hears the incoming and looks over his shoulder at them. Sidestepping to get a better view, he points the small shovel in their direction. "DIGGY DIGGY HOLE." he incants, and a 30 foot pit opens up underneath them. He then looks meaningfully at Chomper, who smiles and waggles their tentacles in agreement.

DC 19 reflex to jump out of the way. This is my 4th action after casting haste, so it should be up for another 3 rounds. Darshan should have 5 rounds of invisibility left.

"Maybe don't kill him. Questioning him might be worthwhile." Shigeru comments to his enlarged allies as he pulls a tiny shovel out of his pocket. He draws upon his arcane power and prepares to cast a spell once the mooks finish chopping down the southern door, humming to himself as he does so.

Move plus standard to prepare to cast my last 2nd level spell, Create Pit.

"...we shall now unbind. ENLARGE PERSON." Shigeru slams his hand down among the powder as he finishes his incantation. The iron bursts into flame and lights the smoke trail. Like a fuse, flame travels down the trail and ignites a flash of light around the eidolon. As the light and smoke around Chomper fades it is apparent that they are now twice as tall and eight times as heavy.

Shigeru then pulls out a bit of arabic gum and begins rolling it between his hands as he starts a new incantation. "A shadow cannot be seem within the light and this shall now be your might. Obscured from view none shall see even as you make them bleed. GREATER INVISIBILITY" He slaps the semi-transparent sap onto Darshan's back and the investigator disappears from view. He then steps close to the eidolon.

If you don't want to be invisible for some reason then I can adjust my actions, Darshan. We can also open those doors if we want to advance things a bit. I've gotten off the important spells.

Shigeru crouches, pours the powdered iron out onto the ground, and begins writing numbers and symbols into the dust. "Size, surface, weight, and volume, all inextricably intertwined. Unto this mundane world we shall now unbind." he chants repeatedly. On the second verse the iron powder begins to smoke, and that smoke swiftly flows over and begins to swirl around Chomper.

"It likely needs replaced at this point already and I rather like the opportunity to cast more spells." Shigeru responds as he pulls out a small pouch of powdered iron.

Shigeru draws out a shaving of licorice root and begins incanting. "Our foes close in to deal mighty blows but soon will see they are too slow, for the flow of time is but a dream and by my will it shall be as I deem. HASTE."

The temporal distortion sweeps out and washes over the party and their compatriot, causing the world to appear to slow drastically around them. Shigeru smirks. "Big damn FAST heroes."

"As much as Cayden would be pleased with your adherence to his tennets, alcohol is not the friend of the injured, Agraic. Shigeru says dryly. "You are right about the healing, though. Kensaku, get out those scrolls and use them on these gentlemen. Use the cure moderate potion on that man over there as well. To the best of my knowledge no one here has died yet and it''s going to stay that way."

"Oh! Good find, big guy!" Shiger exclaims. He rubs his hand through the eidolon's fuzz, eliciting a sound like the fizzing of champagne in response. He then begins searching the areas as carefully as he can for hidden passages that could have been used to escape the ghasts as he calls out. "Hello! Becher! Can you hear me!? Dalard sent us to help!"

Shigeru and Chomper take 20 to search for a 22 & 29, respectively.

Shigeru surveys the areas as he catches up with his eidolon. "Hm. Not much seems to have survived the flooding down here. It's a shame, extra supplies are always useful." He ponders the situation. "How did those barrels get stacked up in front of this cave portion though? It's uphill here, so the flood wouldn't have pushed everything into the mouth. I doubt the undead would have bothered taking the time to stack it all up. There must be something special about this place that I'm missing."

Shigeru stares blankly into the distance for a moment before speaking. "...Chomper says the area is clear. We can follow now." With that, he trudges after the outsider.

The summoner and eidolon swim briskly through the water to catch up to their companion. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Agraic. We were simply trying to be thorough. You say there is another alcove to check?" Shigeru asks as he drifts through the open grate. With a flick of his chin, he sends Chomper off to investigate while he inspects the gate for any available locking mechanisms.

Casting a light spell upon his headband, Shigeru and Chomper give the undead creatures one more looking over for anything valuable they might be carrying before heading down to the southern side of the cave to check the boxes and stonework there.
"I wonder why this cave flooded. You would think that the miners would have set up some drainage system to keep the swamp water from filling it like this." he wonders aloud as they work. Then, calling back to his companions, "Hey! Did the villagers say there was a earthquake or something around here? I'm fairly certain that's not something very common for a wetland."
