Clever ideas get spoiled. A throwing shield is a great idea. It should be something someone can use to trip or distract people. It should not cause damage, or if it does it should cause less damage tham if you were holding it. For that matter, all thrown weapons should do less damage if You are not holding them.

A magical item should not provide MORE benefit to someone with a "handicap" than someone else. I agree with ryric, a purchase needed to combat the drawback, with a little bonus. On a side note, I think it would be great to allow a sorcerer to take "Zealous" but would house rule a RAI (is that the correct abbreviation for "Ruled as Intended"?) Perhaps a Zealous sorcerer would make an unwise choice regarding who to attack, or get to close, or decide to use his claws instead of a ranged attack. For flavor and to minimize the penalty, I might even decrease the penalty. Getting up close might be bad enough already.

These ideas make Hunter seem broken.

Female Human Cleric/3

Seeker yawns, but tries to hide it. This group she is with does not seem interested in resting to require spell abilities and she does not want to push the issue

Female Human Cleric/3

are we going to rest to get spells back?

Female Human Cleric/3

Volk, devils are clever and like to limit how much the help you. You may need to ask him questions very carefully
It seems like he should be able to help us more. Do you think it is worth the trouble of my character help you him questions?

Female Human Cleric/3

Seeker of Light stands back, frowning. I assume by the mutual consent that this may be the best form of justice in this city.

Female Human Cleric/3

Yes, I was thinking of the Circlet. Do not know how the loot will be divided up, with new characters and dead characters. If we find the scroll we can try to find a druid.

Female Human Cleric/3

sorry for being out of touch. Have had wife in ER two nights during the past week. Multiple tests and Dr visits between. Possibly scary stuff. Anyway...
So, if I understand, there are two living? Assuming so...

During the time people are looking around, looting etc. I cast detect magic several times in different directions, to see if anything has been missed. Are the living guards awake, able to hear the discussion, etc.
Are we planning on trying to rest to restore spells before we look for more trouble? I could see if any of these guards have any helpful information, without torture.

I believe I have a charm person prepared. One of the soldiers might know something he might otherwise not say. Also, I would love to have the ring, but I do not know how these decisions are made in this group.

Female Human Cleric/3

There are still forces at work in this city that we do not understand. We could be attacked. What is our relationship with the man who killed Saul, and where is he? Who would be best at searching this place while others guard the doors? Who would help me barricade the entries until we know more of what is going on. Is anyone good at building traps? First, she goes to each body, to see if anyone is still alive. If so, she stabilizes them and asks the group if they think he could be helpful. If not, she heads to the front door, picking up wood and things that could be used as tools (surely there is a hammer somewhere) to build a barricade at the front door.

Female Human Cleric/3

Seeker of Light pauses and nods to Shade. Gramlag seemed to be one who is ready to move on, and less likely to be pleased to be returned in a different form. Though I would hate for this group to loose such a warrior, it would seem that Sabola would more likely desire to return.

Female Human Cleric/3

I do not feel my character has a say in it, but I would think release him with as much security and gain as we can get. I would not want an imp bound to me. For all we know, Saul's downfall might have been manipulated by him.

Female Human Cleric/3

Seeker of Light sits on the edge of the platform, pulls out a flute, and begins playing a quiet melancholy tune. Tears still rolling down her cheeks.

Female Human Cleric/3

Does anyone know a Druid nearby, or a high level cleric? Maybe we could repay them with some kind of quest that would get us out of this disgusting town.

Thanks, I was thinking Resurrection the whole time.

Female Human Cleric/3

silently to Ternock:
Wishful thinking. There could be treasure here he knows about but plans to take with him. Your experience in these things is greater than mine, but I can be convincing at times. Let me know if I can help.

I am still a newcomer to this group and uncertain of my status, but if this proves true and there is a scroll of reincarnation, there will be a difficult decision to make. Who should make it. And who should use the scroll. It is above any of our abilitie.

Female Human Cleric/3

Seeker of Light looks around to see if anyone needs healing. She looks to Volk to see if the comfort he is being given is effective. If there are no needs, she walks over to Sabola, places his body on the platform, straightening his body, placing his arms across his chest, closing his eyes, quietly praying as she does so, tears roll down her face as she does so. She retrieves her club. She then does the same for Gramlag while asking, Does anyone know enough of their beliefs to know what they would have us do now?

silently to Ternock:
It is possible he has more than he would tell us. Can you negotiate for two scrolls?

Female Human Cleric/3

If so, I will provide healing, either by channel energy, or healing spell of the proper level, whatever is most efficient.

Female Human Cleric/3

Does anyone still have any damage?

There needs to be some form of cooperation or more of you may/will die.

Sorry. I am not used to playing with such a large group and did not consider all the factors. Will get advice more in the future. I can fight/threaten with my cestus. I can step back 5 feet, and channel. He will face adorations and attack of opportunity to attack me.

Always feel free to suggest actions. I am used to playing in person, in a setting where people are able to freely talk ooc about ideas regarding actions in a battle.

We need a battle commander. If I survive this encounter, I have a suggestion. It seems that Endoralis(Volk's player) has the best handle on things. Seeker of Light is a natural leader. We could have Endoralis guide the stratagy, with Seeker (or some one else, that is fine with me!) implementing it in the roll play.
Just a thought. C

well, im thinking of going ranger perhaps, though ill note that i find spell casting on rangers to be thematically out of place so i like taking the architype to drop casting. and i need to look through the styles too as i understand they have more than just dual wield and bows for them now which is cool

edit:oh i also take infiltrator, cuz ill be damned if favored terrain isnt like the most niche class ability there is

I have been looking at the hybrid "hunter". I have never liked favored terrain and favored enemy for a player, since you never know where you are going. There are things about it I did like. I think someone in this group is very negative toward rogues. If so, why?

good night

Female Human Cleric/3

Seeker drinks the potion of enlarge person seniko gave her earlier.

Female Human Cleric/3

How stable is the catwalk? I want to use my Windblast(essentially a 30ft line of wind causing Bull rush). I have a great line hitting three enemies, but I would rather get Saul. I expect he can manage it on the ground, but if the catwalk is unstable...GM would have to decide the effect. But my character should have some sense of what it would do to a somewhat unstable platform.

Female Human Cleric/3

Quietly to Naranae "We must kill some of these before I channel energy"
Seeker of Light takes a five step back.

Female Human Cleric/3

Sorry, I misunderstood who was going where.

If I have killed one, I hope you will adjust Seniko's charge.

Female Human Cleric/3

Since I am getting help, I will not drop the stone Shield.

AoO
Masterwork Cold Iron Glaive Hit: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 22(PA) Reach
Glaive damage: 1d10 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10

Female Human Cleric/3

I am putting this here so, if I am doing this wrong, someone can correct me.
If the man I attacked fights back, I will get an attack of opportunity if I can (when he reloads, draws a weapon, or backs up.) If that does not work, I will try to block his attack with adoration and drop a stone shield blocking the other guard. I am hoping to get rid of these two so I can hit the others with a line spell.

DM Tuyena wrote:

Not sure where your numbers are coming from there Gramlag but they're wrong.

Gramlag's attack misses the Gendarme, Seeker however is able to strike hers, but her target is left still standing.

Volk's blast takes down a second Gendarme.

Just waiting on Naranae now.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Which number seems wrong? His attack is +8 because he has bulls strength. Bummer of a roll though. And boy they have a lot of hit points!

Female Human Cleric/3

I intend to block the first attack against me with adoration, will wait on decision about shield of stone til I found out what 11 damage does to one of these guys.

Female Human Cleric/3

Damage should be...Glaive damage: 1d10 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 = 11

Female Human Cleric/3

Seeker of Light charges forward 25 feet(toward the two separated Guards) and attacks with her glaive.

Masterwork Cold Iron Glaive Hit: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 21(PA), Reach, Bless, inspire courage.

If I understand correctly, Bless gives a plus one to attack. Inspire courage gives a +1 to attack and damage.

I am attacking someone who is holding a crossbow. I do not remember if that gives me an advantage?

Female Human Cleric/3

If that's the case, then I still would have room for a move action that I didn't make because I was waiting for my turn in initiative.

Female Human Cleric/3
Volk Tulmere wrote:

Basically, the X means they are down and died/dying. Eyeball isblinded and yes that one is stunned.

Those Lines last forever until Volk gets rid of them, if you are behind it, it gives cover and blocks line of effect. Though not line of sight.

Nel and Volk went before the Gendarmes, then The enemy went. once that happens pretty much the party goes post-wise in any order but actions resolve based on initiative. So people have posted their actions including yourself in this case channeling. We wait on Gramlag and Sabola.. then The enemies go.. then we go.. and it repeats this fashion until combat is over.

I am confused then, I thought my channeling was for the prior round.

Female Human Cleric/3

For the previous round, I take a double move forward. If they shoot at me, the first must make a saving throw to attack. It seemed most of the shots went toward Gramlag.

Female Human Cleric/3

Never mind regarding my following Gramlag. I will see what people do first. I am last on the initiative.

Female Human Cleric/3

@GM Tuyena
and to Volk
Map One enemy on the platform has a funny symbol. Blinded by Mudball
One enemy in the back, stunned
Lines in back showing what Volk did. What does it provide, how long does it work?

Unclear about where we are in our round. Nel, Volk and the Gendarmes have acted, the rest of us have not. Ternock and seniko are next. Correct?

Female Human Cleric/3

What can Seeker see that is flammable in the room? Might want to start a fire, especially behind the enemy.

Female Human Cleric/3

Nel's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Volk's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Gendarmes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Ternock's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Seniko's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Sabola's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Naranae's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Gramlag's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Seeker's Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Just needed to see it all in order.

Female Human Cleric/3

Never mind the stone shield. Will continue to keep close behind Gramlag.

Female Human Cleric/3

Never have face this many crossbowmen before. It feels like they can reload to fast. Hope we close with them soon!

Female Human Cleric/3

Here is where PBP gets complicated. I would have, as an immediate action, dropped a stone shield in front of Glamdrag, where ever it would have blocked the most shots. If you don't want to go back in time, please keep him alive and drop it now. In any case, when I do so, I say "Take a moment and get readythat is, ready action, for when this shield drops. In the meantime, I will provide some healing."
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

Female Human Cleric/3

Someone said I had one to many orisons. Cannot remember what computer program had me set that up that way. Fixed it now.

Please note that (Adoration) as an immediate action, I can attempt to thwart a melee or ranged attack that targets me. This functions as sanctuary, but only against one attack. I must use the ability after the attack is declared but before the roll is made. So I must know about an attack before you roll the dice.
